Benny and Eleanor Jewell - 50th
Benny and Eleanor Jewell of Topeka will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, S.W. 8th and Buchanan.
Benny Jewell and Eleanor Johnson-Stovall were married Nov. 14, 1952, at the home of the bride in Topeka.
Hosts will be their children and their families, Ellen and George Irwin, Topeka; Barbara and Kenny Jessop, Topeka; and Kathy Anderson, Chicago.
Their son, Ronald D. Stovall, is deceased. They have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jewell retired in 1983 from the U.S. Postal Service Supply Center after 33 years of service.
Mrs. Jewell is a homemaker.
Dwight and Janice Jackson - 60th
Dwight and Janice Jackson of Topeka will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception and card shower from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Left Bank Room, 820 N. Kansas Ave.
Hosts will be their children.
Mr. and Mrs. Jackson were married Nov. 22, 1942, at the home of Bud and Lorraine Shreffler in Topeka.
Their four children and spouses are Dave and Annette Jackson, Topeka; Fred and Sandy Jackson, Topeka; Paul and Beth Jackson, Texhoma, Okla.; and Marijean and Mark Cockran, Ardmore, Okla.
They have 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Jackson owned Jackson's Greenhouse from 1951 to 1984.
Mr. Jackson also is retired from farming.
Mrs. Jackson worked for Seymour Foods Inc., the Kansas Senate, and for CG-F Grain before owning Jackson's Greenhouse.
The couple request no gifts.
Kenneth and Mary Cowan - 60th
Kenneth V. and Mary C. Cowan of Silver Lake celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner Saturday at the Hotel Jayhawk hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Kenneth V. Cowan and Mary C. Mattan were married Feb. 12, 1943, at Sacred Heart Church in Delia.
Their four children and spouses are Diane Elevier, Silver Lake; Vicki and Mike Wilson, Holton; Denise and Tom Denton, Silver Lake; and Mark and Jackie Cowan, Kansas City, Mo. They have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cowan retired in 1983 from Santa Fe Railway after 43 years of service.
Mrs. Cowan is a homemaker.
