The Rev. Thomas and Dorothy Sykes - 50th
The Rev. Thomas and Dorothy Sykes of Topeka celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception Dec. 29 at First Southern Baptist Church in Topeka hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Thomas E. Sykes and Dorothy Blackwell were married Jan. 1, 1953, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Their children are Stephany and Gary Woods, El Cajon, Calif., and Dale and Gigi Sykes, Mountain Home, Ark.
They have four grandchildren.
The Rev. and Mrs. Sykes served with the North American Mission Board in 18 states for 27 years before retiring.
The Rev. Sykes served in northeastern Kansas as director of missions for the Kaw Valley Association of Southern Baptists from 1990 to 1994.
Curt and Madge White - 63rd
Curt and Madge White, Tecumseh, will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on Monday.
Curtis Ray White and Elsie Marguerite Bean were married Sept. 29, 1940 at the home of Horace Noble and Elsie Francis Bean in Osage City.
Their family includes their son and his wife, Denny and Donna White; granddaughters and great-granddaughters Denise, Dena, Danielle, Donje, Haley and Hiré and great-great-granddaughter Evelyn Marguerite.
Their son Donnie White is deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. White have lived in the Topeka area since 1944.
Mr. White retired in 1982 as a cement contractor.
Mrs. White retired in 1988 from the state of Kansas.
Rando and Dorothy Wegner - 60th
Rando and Dorothy Wegner, Onaga, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 5, 2003, at New Hope Lutheran Church, 219 Lucien in Onaga.
Dorothy Baker and Rando Wegner were married Sept. 29, 1943, in rural Onaga.
Hosts will be their children, Ernest Wegner and Lila Earle, Garden City; Richard and Pat Nott, Emmett; and Maye Wegner, Havensville; and their families.
The Wegners have seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and six foster great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wegner is a retired farmer and mechanic.
Mrs. Wegner is employed by Onaga Community Hospital in food service.
