Shelly Alefs and Chris Ramsey were married on June 5, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood.
The Rev. Andy Keltner officiated the double-ring ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Kenny and Lora Alefs, Jackie Engle, Ryan Engle and Mike and Jill Ramsey.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose an elegant bridal white matte satin gown styled in traditional Basque waist design featuring a scooped neckline and wide shoulder caps edged in matte satin banding and completely embellished with beaded medallions of re-embroidered Alencon lace.
The full ballroom skirt swept into its own semi-cathedral train and featured scattered matching lace medallions and scalloped hem lace.
A crowning touch of pearls and crystals held her elbow length bridal illusion veil.
The bride carried an arrangement of pink gerber daisies with large star-gazer lilies, along white accents of yellow frescia and wine carnations.
The maid of honor, Dawn Applegarth of Palisade, Neb., and bridesmaids Tonya Schartz of Great Bend, cousin of the bride; Robyn Long of Ellinwood, cousin of the bride and Sarah Ingmire of Hays, all wore royal blue matte satin two piece dresses with halter top accented with two rhinestone pins.
Bridesmaids and flower girls, Shaylin Ybarra of Great Bend and Haylee Dodson of Nickerson, carried mini replicas of the bride’s bouquet.
Chad Ramsey of Sedgwick, brother of the groom, served as the best man.
The groomsmen were Travis Hogan of Logan, Josh Bohnert of Jewell and Caleb Ramsey of Randall, brother of the groom.
Corbin Ramsey of Sedgwick was the ring bearer.
Taperlighters were Martha Hayes and Annie Legleiter both of Hays.
Music was provided by Melinda Alefs of Wichita and Jared Gorney of Great Bend, vocalist, and string trio Kay Werth and sons of Hays.
Ushers were Ryan Alefs of Ann Arbor, Mich., brother of the bride, Cody Engle of Ellinwood, Brandon May of Kansas City and Troy Prosser of Ottawa.
The bride is a graduate of Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s degree in music.
She is employed at St. John’s Child Development Center in Ellinwood as a preschool teacher.
The groom holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Fort Hays State University.
He is employed by Juvenile Services in Great Bend.
The couple makes their home in Great Bend.
