The bride's parents are Gene and Mareta James of Topeka.
Parents of the bridegroom are Nancy and Dr. Leonard Kupersmith of Joplin, Mo., and Dr. Terry and MaryAnn Poling of Wichita.
The bride is a graduate of Topeka High School.
The groom is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School in Joplin, Mo.
The newlyweds live in Lawrence, where both are students at The University of Kansas.
