Valerie Lynn Barnes and Paul Calvert Geier were united in marriage Jan. 13, 2001, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka with a 1:30 p.m. nuptial Mass celebrated by the Rev. Francis Krische.
Parents of the couple are Bill and Connie Barnes and Harry and Peggy Geier.
Grandparents of the bride are L.L. "Bob" Novak and Dorothy Barnes.
All reside in Topeka.
The bride's sister, Jaime Frederick, Topeka, was matron of honor.
The bridesmaids were Sarah Scheckel, Topeka; Annie Pensick, Omaha, Neb.; Katie Jo Todd, Fort Scott; and Jennifer Ternes, Topeka.
Josh White, Topeka, was best man. The groomsmen were Jordan Buswell, Pleasantview, Utah; Dean Boyles, Topeka; Scott Camien, Topeka; and David Holthaus, Baileyville.
Payton Leiker was the flower girl, and Austin Barnes was the ring bearer.
Candles were lighted by the groom's sisters, Teresa Holthaus, Baileyville, and Anne Geier, Topeka.
Serving as ushers were Tony Frederick, Topeka; Dirk Henderson, Lawrence; Larry Benson, Kansas City; and Drew Hartley, Baxter Springs.
The lectors were Jenny Kreidler, Lawrence, and Charlie Nimz, Topeka.

The soloist was Maureen Colbach, accompanied by Sandy Jackson. Both are of Topeka.
The bride's personal attendant was her aunt, Patti Kent.

A reception, dinner and dance followed at the Sunrise Optimist Club.

The bride is a graduate of Hayden High School and Pittsburg State University.
She is an e-commerce analyst for Payless ShoeSource in Topeka.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Seaman High School and Washburn University.
He is an administrative analyst for Protection One.
After a honeymoon trip to Nassau, the newlyweds are at home in Topeka.
