Eagan - Stretton
Janet Marie Eagan and George Michael Stretton were united in marriage at a 2 p.m. ceremony Oct. 7, 2000, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell. The Rev. John Erickson officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Leo and Marie Eagan, Axtell. The groom is the son of Cal and Kathleen Stretton, Lebanon, Mo.
Dr. Bernita Berntsen, Berryton, was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Arlene Talbert, Independence, Mo., and Mary Neigenfind and Laura Welborn, both of Topeka, all sisters of the bride.
The best man was Michael McNaughton, Titusville, Fla., cousin of the groom. The groomsmen were Kent LasKares, Berryton, and the bride's brothers, Patrick Eagan and John Eagan, both of Axtell.
The flower girls were Rylee Neigenfind and Danielle Welborn, both of Topeka, nieces of the bride. The candlelighters were Teena Neuenschswander, Lyndon, and Tina Hamlin, Topeka. Serving as ushers were Tim Rozell, Baldwin; Steve Geiss, Ottawa; Dr. Michael Pomes, Lawrence; and Kevin McNaughton, Titusville, Fla., cousin of the groom.
Karen Meyer, Topeka, was the guest book and program attendant. The reader was Roland Peschel, Axtell. Beth Reinhart, Topeka, was the soloist. Kathy Buessing, Axtell, was the musician. The bride's personal attendant was Barbara Stevenson, Topeka.
A reception and dance followed at the American Legion Hall in Axtell.
The bride is a graduate of Axtell High School and Washburn University with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Topeka.
The groom is a graduate of Turner High School, Kansas City, Kan., and attended Johnson County Community College. He is employed by the U.S. Department of Defense as a support service specialist. He also is a fire support sergeant with the Kansas Army National Guard, 1st Battalion, 127th Field Artillery, in Lawrence.
After a honeymoon trip to southern Europe and Coco Beach, Fla., the newlyweds are at home in Berryton.
