Caplinger - Kerns
Elizabeth Ann Charveze Caplinger and Maj. John Eric Kerns were united in marriage Feb. 17, 2001, at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Dr. L.D. Holmes officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Sandy (Charveze) James of Scottsdale, Ariz., and the late Ted Charveze. Her mother is remarried to Larry James of Scottsdale.
The bridegroom is the son of Dr. Gerald and Sandra Kerns of Osage City.
The bride was given in marriage by her 8-year-old daughter, Jessica Caplinger. The groom was escorted by his 8-year-old daughter, Ashley Kerns.
The bride's 7-year-old daughter, Kate Caplinger, was the flower girl. The groom's 6-year-old daughter, Katie Kerns, was the ring bearer.
The couple's military wedding included eight uniformed saber bearers, who are friends of the bride and groom.
A reception followed at Jayhawk Tower.
The bride is a graduate of Topeka West High School. She designs custom jewelry for Dreams and Visions and works as a ceramist.
The groom is a graduate of Osage City High School and the U.S. Air Force Academy with a bachelor's degree in astronautical engineering. He is employed as an instructor pilot for the Kansas Air National Guard and is president of High Flight Aviation Inc. and K.A.T.E., L.L.C.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii. They reside in Topeka.
