Sharnelle Kay Straub and Christopher Lee Herrman were married on June 26, 2004 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz. Rev. Ultan Murphy officiated the double ring ceremony. Parents of the bride are Kenneth and Doris Straub. Parents of the groom are Janice Herrman and the late Thomas Herrman. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin, strapless gown featuring an asymmetrical gathering at the waist. The bodice was adorned with Swarovski crystals, pearls, sequins, and bugle beading on delicate embroidery. The corset style back was finished with coordinated bead detailing. The full skirt flowed into the sw eep train. She wore an elegant elbow length veil to complete her ensemble. Melissa Swift of Wilmington, Mass., served as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Tami Christiansen of Enid, Okla., Nickie Ochs of Great Bend, Jolene Goodheart of Manhattan and Summer Schwindt, Texas. The bridesmaids wore lavender floor length dresses with an empire waist. A double satin band added detail to the bodice. The satin dresses had a scooped neckline with spaghetti straps accented with rhinestone trim. Jeff Jacobs of Great Bend served as the best man and the groomsmen were Curtis Christiansen of Enid, Eric Swift of Wilmington, Chance Bailey of Great Bend and Patrick Keller of Salina. Kendra Swift of Wilmington was the flower girl. Gage Christiansen of Enid, Okla., was the ring bearer. Instrumental music was provided by Joyce Haberman of Great Bend, organist. Jane Goodheart of Bison and Jim Bartonek of Olmitz, were vocalists. Taperlighters were Chandler Christiansen of Harper and Jericah Ravenstein of Great Bend. Ushers were Austin Soukup of Wilson and Keith Ravenstein of Great Bend. The bride graduated from Otis-Bison High School. She received an associates degree from Barton County Community College and a bachelors degree from Fort Hays State University. She’s working at Kid’s World in Great Bend as a preschool teacher. The groom graduated from Great Bend High School and is working at Superior Essex in Hoisington. The couple makes their home in Great Bend.
