Lawson - Turner
Elizabeth Janine Lawson and Louis "Malik" Anthony Turner were united in marriage Dec. 11, 2003, in Topeka.
The Rev. Lee Ralph Sr. officiated at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony.
An open house will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at the home of the bride and groom, 3823 N.E. Meriden Road.
Attending the bride and groom at their wedding were Carolyn Ralph and Irvin Lee Ralph Jr., both of Topeka.
The bride has a son, Angel Joseph Finan Jr., Topeka.
She is the daughter of Wanda Delores Petefish Lawson, Topeka, and the late Douglas Mac Lawson.
She is the granddaughter of the late Melvin P. and Jennie M. Petefish and the late Oliver and Cecile Lawson.
She was very close to her great aunt, the late Elizabeth McCracken Devore.
The groom has a son, Zachary Turner, Kansas City, Kan.
The groom is the son of Mary Retha Washington Turner, Olathe, and Harold Vantrece, who lives abroad.
He is the grandson of the late Janie Washington and the late Jack Cotton.
The bride is a graduate of Shawnee Heights High School; Kaw Area Technical School in early childhood education and development; and Washburn University with a bachelor's degree in social work and counseling.
She also attended Mid America Nazarene University.
She is employed by Topeka Public Schools as a para professional and by Individual Support Systems in Topeka as a personal assistant and counselor.
The groom attended Paola High School and is a graduate of Osawatomie High School.
He attended Ottawa University.
He is self-employed as a martial arts instructor.
The newlyweds are planning a honeymoon trip to Nigeria in the summer of 2004.
