Melanie Marie Schartz and Jeremy Devon Lewis were married on June 26, 2004 at St. Patrick Church in Great Bend. The Rev. Reggie Urban officiated the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the bride are Jennifer and Shannon Schartz of Great Bend and parents of the groom are Pamla and Charles Lewis of Great Bend. Grandparents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Duane Potter, Lillie Livingston, Thon Schartz and Doris Johansen, all of Great Bend. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white strapless satin A-line gown featuring two-tone embroidery, crystal beading and a split-front overskirt. She wore a shoulder length veil with scattered crystals and carried a cascade bouquet of white calla and star gazer lilies, white and peach roses and purple lizzianthes. Alison Brack of Great Bend served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelsey Garrett and Carol Grover, both of Great Bend, and Megan Leis of Fowler. The bridesmaids wore Victorian lilac slim-fitting, mock two-piece satin gowns. They carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet. Taper lighter was Brianna Schartz of Great Bend, sister of the bride. Mark Murphy of WaKeeny, served as the best man. Groomsmen were Casey Campbell of Goodland, Brent Mattison of Hays, and Josh Callahan of Baldwin. Ushers were Dane Schartz of Great Bend, brother of the bride, David Fitzgerald of Albuquerque. N.M. and John Fitzgerald of Byron, Ga. both cousins of the groom. The bride is a senior at Fort Hays State University, majoring in nursing. The groom is also a Fort Hays State University senior, majoring in organizational leadership. The couple makes their home in Hays. Nichols - Michelle Lynn Telenko and Charles Meredith Nichols of Dallas, Texas, were married July 10 in Kauai, Hawaii. The groom, a former resident of Great Bend is the son of Mary Agnes Davis of Dallas, and Rev. James Allen Nichols, Kansas City, Mo. He is a graduate of Hampton Roads Academy, Newport News, Va., and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas. He is employed by Rio Technical Service of Fort Worth as project manger. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Telenko, Elizabethtown, Penn. She is a graduate of Elizabethtown Area Senior High School, and George Mason University, Fairfax, Va. She is employed by Document Technologies, Inc. of Atlanta, Ga. as director of learning. The couple will be making their home in Atlanta.
