Cori Bitter and David Burroughs were united in marriage on Oct. 30, 2004 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend. Officiating the double-ring, candlelight ceremony was the Rev. Doyle Smith of Great Bend. Parents of the couple are Mark and Chris Bitter of Great Bend and Dale and Mildred Burroughs of Ellinwood. Grandparents of the bride are Richard and Marline Amerine of Hoisington and Elmer and Aleen Bitter of Great Bend. Great-grandfather of the bride is Ted Bitter of Great Bend. Escorted by her father, the bride chose an elegant white, matte-satin gown styled in a princess silhouette, featuring a scooped neckline atop a fitted bodice with wrist-length sheer fitted sleeves all fully embellished with delicately beaded Schiffli lace medallions. The semi-full skirt swept into its own semi-cathedral train and was accented by medallions of matching lace and scalloped hem lace. Her ballet-length sheer illusion veil fell from a crystal tiara. She carried a cascading bouquet of red, plum and terra cotta roses in a silver tussy mussy holder with feather and plum crystals, and her great-grandmother’s garnet beads. Maid of honor was Tasha King of Great Bend. Bridesmaid was Lacey Bonine of Manhattan, sister of the bride. Best man was Chad Burroughs of Ellinwood, son of the groom. Groomsman was George Werdahl of Great Bend. McKenzie King was the flower girl. Jacob Amerine, cousin of the bride, was the ringbearer. Ushers were Klint Bitter of Olathe, brother of the bride, and Adam Amerine of Huntsville, Ala., cousin of the bride. Music was provided by Lacey Bonine, flutist; Richard Amerine, grandfather of the bride, violinist; and Bill Spece, pianist. The couple resides in Ellinwood.
