Lindsay Nicole Vest and Justin Matthew Cooper were united in marriage on July 31, 2004 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Studley. The Rev. LeRoy Herder officiated the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the bride are Leslie Raffelock of Albert and Don Vest of Seward. Parents of the groom are Kevin and Melanie Cooper of Hoxie. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white Mori Lee gown. A sculptured, strapless bodice was overlaid with embroidered tulle and framed with intricate beading. The multilayered tulle, ballgown skirt featured asymmetric, front and back drapes decorated with scattered embroidery. The gown had a chapel-length, tulle detachable train and matching shawl. To complete the ensemble, the bride wore a single-layered Mori Lee veil with intricate beading and a cross necklace given to the bride by her mother. Kristin Jenkins of McPherson, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Jaime McMillan of Grinnell, sister of the groom, served as a bridesmaid. The bridesmaids wore navy blue floor-length spaghetti-strapped dresses. Jesse Cooper of Manhattan, brother of the groom, served as the best man. Chris McMillan of Grinnell, brother-in-law of the groom, served as the groomsman. Hannah Malloy of Ottawa and Salyer Peplinski of Albert, sister of the bride, were the flower girls. Ian Vest of Seward, brother of the groom; Landon Simon of Colorado; and Travis Brewster and Brad Stewart, both of Hoxie, were ushers. Taperlighters were Crystal Simon and Sarah Simon, both of Colorado. The bride graduated from St. John High School. She is a December 2004 graduate from Ottawa University with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health with a teaching certificate. The groom graduated from Hoxie High School and is currently attending Colby Community College with a pre-engineering degree. He plans on continuing his education at Kansas State University this coming fall. The couple makes their home in Colby.
