Bonnie D. Laflin

Bonnie Laflin, 69, of Basehor, died Sept. 22, 2004, at her daughter's home in Rio Rico, Ariz. from pancreatic cancer. Services were held Tuesday at Open Door Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kan., with burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terr., Kansas City KS 66109, to be used for the Bonnie Laflin Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Laflin was born April 27, 1935, in Offerle, Kan., to Cecil and Vivian (Block) Livengood. She married Philip Laflin in 1952 in Wichita, and they made their home in the Kansas City area in 1967. She was a graphic artist for the Nazarene Publishing House for 30 years.
Survivors include a son, Tom Laflin and his wife, Charlene, of Basehor; a daughter, Anne Thornton, and her husband, Alan, of Rio Rico, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Cassie, Dustin, Zachary, Hannah, Abby and Adriana; her father, Cecil Livengood; a sister, Kathy Livengood, Shawnee Mission; three brothers, Don Livengood, Wichita; Eugene Livengood, El Dorado, Kan.; and Ken Livengood, Overland Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip, and her mother, Vivian Livengood.
Terry Rawlings Deen

Terry Deen, 59, Shawnee, died Sept. 21, 2004, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Memorial services were held on Saturday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. He was cremated.
Mr. Deen was born Aug. 30, 1945, in Vandalia, Ill., and grew up in Oklahoma City. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a master's degree in engineering and was commissioned in the Army ROTC. He served in the U.S. Army and later in the U.S. Public Health Service, attaining the rank of captain. Since 1979, he was assigned to the Environmental Protection Agency, Region VII Office. At the time of his retirement in 2000, he was awarded the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Services Commendation Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Deen; a daughter, Sally Anne Mackey and her husband, Todd Mackey; and grandchildren, Luke and Lindsey, all of Columbia, Mo.; a step-daughter, Kristen Brouhard and her husband, Greg Unruh, of Lawrence; and exchange student-daughter Tarja Oikarinen of Turku, Finland.
Throughout his life, Mr. Deen was an avid golfer and traveler. He also enjoyed gardening, music, puzzles and trivia contests, and the company of family and friends.
Harold L. Crady

Services for Harold L. Crady, 80, Lawrence, were Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Crady died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1924, in Lecompton, the son of Louis Wesley and Margaret Alice Hemphill Crady.
Mr. Crady served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in World War II. His tours of duty included New Guinea and the southern Philippines. He worked for Theodore Poehler Wholesale Grocery Co. for 10 years. In 1958 he went to work for Hallmark Cards and retired from there in 1987.
He attended Indian Hills Church of God.
He married Helen Delene Banks on March 5, 1943, in Lawrence. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Hal Crady, Lawrence; and Ron Crady, Shawnee; two daughters, Joyce Crady Curry, Eudora; and Janet Crady, Erie; a sister, Betty Stauffer, Lawrence; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1260, Lawrence 66044.
William E. Brown
1921-2004
Bonner Springs
William Brown, 83, of Bonner Springs, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery. Mr. Brown was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Edwardsville. He was a glider pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific theater. He went on to work for General Motors for 39 years as a salesman for the truck and coach division, calling on dealers in a seven-state territory.
He was a member of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church and was active in the Building Advisory Board for the existing church as well as numerous other projects.
During his retirement years he enjoyed his friends in the "Coffee Club," golf and being involved with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raleigh Brown. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret M. Brown, of the home; two daughters, Beverly Walbridge and husband Don of Overland Park; and Kathryn Thomas and husband Randy of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Sue Marie Mills and husband Leo of Edwardsville; and four grandchildren, Bethany, Drew, Anna Thomas and Lauren Walbridge.
