Kevin Criswell Swope

Funeral services for Kevin Swope, 22, Basehor, were Tuesday, Oct. 14th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor.
Kevin died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 at Kansas University Hospital as the result of an automobile accident.
Kevin was born on Aug. 7, 1981 in Kansas City, Kan. He grew up and always lived in the Basehor area and had graduated from Basehor-Linwood High School in 2000. He and Katrina Hardwick had just celebrated the birth of their son Kameron on May 3, 2003.
Survivors include his mother Carla Kaiser and husband Jim of Basehor; father Cliff Swope, Bonner Springs; one sister Jodi Swope and one step-sister Nikki Green, both of Basehor; and one step brother, David Kaiser of Cordova, Tenn.; Maternal grandparents Gale and Becky Knoche, Basehor, and paternal grandparents, Leroy and Emilee Swope of Olathe, and Erma and Ron Wheeler of Basehor. Maternal great grandmother Irene Prater, Basehor, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Kevin Swope memorial fund that has been set up for his son Kameron in care of the First State Bank, 1106 N. 155th St. Basehor, Kan., 66007.
Ronald S. "Babe" Wheeler

Ronald Stidmon "Babe" Wheeler, 70, of Bonner Springs, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, peacefully at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Highland Park Cemetery, Kirksville, Mo. The family will receive friends at the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Alden - Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Basehor Library Building Fund .
Mr. Wheeler was born Dec. 24, 1936, in Kirksville, Mo., and had lived in the Kansas City area since the early 1970s. He was a 21-year veteran of the National Guard and had worked in construction for many years as a carpenter, first in the Kirksville and Kansas City areas and then later in Naples, Fla., and New Orleans, La. He later returned to Basehor and worked for Charles Bates Construction for several years before he retired.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William S. Wheeler and Rufus E. Wheeler, and three sisters, Virginia E. Phillips, Mary R. Morris and Margaret L. Wheeler and a grandson, Kevin C. Swope
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Erma Wheeler of the home; and one daughter, Connie L. Buckallew of Queens City, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Debra Swope of Renton, Wash.; and Cindy Walta of Tonganoxie; and two stepsons, Clifford Swope of Bonner Springs and Greg Swope of Olathe; a sister, Joan M. Smith, Raymore, Mo.; and a brother, Donald T. Wheeler of Kirksville, Mo. There are seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Robert E. Walters

Parkville, Mo.
Robert Eugene Walters, 69, of Parkville, Mo., died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the University of Kansas Hosptial, in Kansas City, Kan. The family plans private memorial services at a later date.
Mr. Walters was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Paola, Kan., and was a longtime Kansas City area resident.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He had worked at several savings and loans throughout the country as president and C.E.O. over the years. Most recently he was the operating manager for the Parkville and Harrisonville license offices, and he served as the chairman of the Missouri Department of Revenue Advisory Board for Contract Offices.
He is survived by his fiancé, Adair Skaggs; two daughters, Alecia Bebout of Parkville, Mo., and Machelle Shirk of Cape Coral, Fla.; one son, Casey Walters, of Bonner Springs; his father, J.B. Walters of Rockville, Ind.; and two sisters, Sue Wilson of North Port, Fla., and Linda Dohrman of Mountain Home, Ark. There are eight grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Miranda, McKenzie, Montana, Madison, Peyton and Jordan.

Lawrence "Pete" W. Pickett

Lawrence Wayne "Pete" Pickett, 49, Prescott, formerly of Bonner Springs, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial followed in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Visitation was prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the funeral home to help with the headstone.
Mr. Pickett was born Dec. 29, 1957, in Kansas City, Kan., and had lived in the Linn County area for the last 15 years. He worked for many years as an auto body mechanic at International Trucks in North Kansas City, Mo. For the last several years he and his son have enjoyed working on and rebuilding motorcycles
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Melanie Pickett, of the home; a son, Wayne Pickett; two daughters, Chelsey Pickett and Samantha Pickett; a grandson, Ethan, all of the home; a sister, Linda Reed, Bonner Springs.
