John E. Foley Sr., 85, died Dec. 1, 2004. Mass of Resurrection was Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation and Rosary were Friday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Foley was born May 28, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Foley; a daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Kurt Wagner; two sons, Jeffrey Foley and his wife, Cathy; and John Foley Jr. and his wife, Shannon; a sister, Kathleen Bellinghausen; and six grandchildren.

Steven Dean Zacharias

Steven Dean Zacharias, 56, Leavenworth, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the VA Medical Center, Leavenworth.
Memorial services were Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Tonganoxie Christian Church, Tonganoxie. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the National Cemetery, Leavenworth.
Steve was born June 27, 1948, in Troy. He worked as a truck driver and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Atchison.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Zacharias, November 22, 2004.
He is survived by three daughters, Kelly Jo Snyder, Indianapolis, Ind.; Amanda Deann Sievertson, Franklin, Ind.; and Amy (Katie) Zacharias, Olathe; his mother, Nellie Zacharias, Tonganoxie; two brothers, William H. Zacharias, Clay Center; and Frank R. Zacharias, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Doris L. Schoeck, Emporia; and Rhonda J. Owens, Reeds, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Harry Glen Zacharias

Harry Glen Zacharias, 82, Tonganoxie, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the Tonganoxie Christian Church. The family received friends Friday at the church. Burial was in Round Prairie Cemetery, Lowemont.
Mr. Zacharias was born July 22, 1922, in Oak Mills, Kan., the son of Frank R. and Anna J. (Fisher) Zacharias. He married Nellie (McBride) Davies on March 2, 1952, in Atchison. He worked as a dairy farmer until 1960 and then for the Kansas Department of Transportation, from which he retired after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Tonganoxie Christian Church and a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Lancaster, Kan. He also served as Deacon of the Wallula Christian Church, Lansing.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Zacharias, of the home; three sons, William H. Zacharias, Clay Center; Steve D. Zacharias, Leavenworth; and Frank R. Zacharias, Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Doris L. Schoeck, Emporia; and Rhonda J. Owens, Reeds, Mo.; three sisters, Emma Hubartt, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mary Shuffleburger, Lancaster, Kan.; and Hazel Myers, Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

David E. Long, D.D.S.

David E. Long, DDS, 54, a popular teacher at Hocker Grove Middle School in Shawnee, died Nov. 29, 2004, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 7, 1950, to Dr. Edward E. Long and Dorothy Long of Humboldt, Kan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Humboldt, where he began his teaching career teaching Vacation Bible School. He was also an Eagle Scout.
While in high school, he played football and basketball and also formed his own band called "The Night Watch." He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1968 and from the University of Kansas in 1972. He obtained his teaching degree in 1973.
After teaching at Hocker Grove for three years, he entered the University of Missouri-Kansas City and obtained his degree in dentistry. While practicing dentistry part time, he also taught at the Dental School. However, after he developed an eyesight problem which created challenges in his dental practice, he returned to Hocker Grove.
Dr. Long was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a brother, Jerry Long, Fairway; two sisters, Sherry Crane and husband John, Overland Park; and Debbie Stewart and husband Neil, Longmont, Colo.; and one nephew, five nieces and one great-nephew.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Rd., Prairie Village. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
