Kathryn Leake, 77, of Ingalls, Ind. died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004. Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Edwardsville Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
Michael D. Friend
1958-2004

Mike Friend, 45, lost his battle with cancer on the morning of Nov. 23, 2004, at home. Visitation was Friday at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with graveside services on Monday at the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Gainesville, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th St. Suite 100 Overland Park, KS 66212.
Mr. Friend was born Nov. 27, 1958, the son of Retha and Bernon Friend. Mike was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and loved his southern Missouri country heritage. He graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1976 and was an employee of Colgate Palmolive Co. for 22 years before leaving for health reasons. He was a member of the O.C.A.W. local union #5114.
Survivors include his three children, Stacy, Michael, and Kristen Friend; a stepson, Jason Benton; his mother, Retha Friend; and his sister, Rhonda Hunt, and her husband, Greg, all of the Kansas City area.
Dorris Jean Edwards
1942-2004
Lenexa
Dorris Jean Edwards, 62, Lenexa, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, in Columbia, Mo. Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Visitation will follow until 8 p.m. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Animal Haven Animal Shelter, 9800 W. 67th St., Merriam KS 66203.
Dorris was born Feb. 6, 1942, to David S. and Mary Hooks Gillem in Nashville, Tenn. She retired in 1998 as a technician at Procter & Gamble. She was a member of the Procter & Gamble retirees group and was an active volunteer at the Cancer Society Thrift Store.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Dever and Elaine Hale, and a brother, David Sonny Gillem Jr.
Survivors include a son, Steve Edwards, Oak Park, Ill.; a sister, Linda Winnet, Nashville; and a grandson, Kyle Edwards, Peoria, Ill.

Hazel Meldon Cobb

Funeral services for Hazel Meldon Cobb, 92, Kansas City, Kan., were Monday, Nov. 29, at Wellsville United Methodist Church in Wellsville. Burial was in the Wellsville Cemetery.
Ms. Cobb died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at the Presbyterian Manor in Kansas City, Kan.
She was born Aug. 30, 1912, in Iola, Kan., the daughter of Clarence Edward and Delcie Meldon Efinger Hunzicker. She attended country schools in Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1931. She graduated from the General Hospital Nursing School in Kansas City, Mo., and worked at the Gardner Hospital for many years before retiring in 1977.
Ms. Cobb was a member of the Wellsville United Methodist Church and the WSCS.
She married Raymond Arthur Cobb on Feb. 22, 1935, in Olathe. He died March 5, 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Ella Rae Tucker, Kansas City, Kan.; and Ruth Ann Sims, Renton, Wash.; a son, Earl Cobb, Edgerton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Anna P. Brose
1911-2004
Easton
Anna P. Brose, 93, Easton, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the St. John Hospital of Leavenworth.
She was born the daughter of John and Rosa (Ille) Zorn on October 10, 1911, in Spearville. She married John J. Brose on March 9, 1943, in Easton. Mr. Eaton died Feb. 15, 1980.
Mrs. Brose was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed working with her flowers, canning items from her garden, sewing and baking. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, David A. and Judy Brose and Bernard J. and Judy Brose; a daughter, Alice M. Smith; a sister, Josephine Noll, all of Easton; four grandchildren, Denise Miller, Heather Brose, Jonathan Lunsford and Joe Brose; and five great-grandchildren.
Her parents; husband John; sisters, Cecilia Abel and Rosa Winsor; brother, John Zorn; daughter-in-law, Patricia Brose; son-in-law, John Smith; and a grandson, Shawn Brose, all preceded her in death.
The family received friends Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth.
A Mass of Christian Burial, conducted by the Rev. John Ayang, was scheduled Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial was in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
