Ron Walker, 54, Bonner Springs, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs with burial following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kan. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the children's college fund.
Mr. Walker was born March 7, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a resident of the Rosedale area of Kansas City, Kan., most of his life. For the last six years he lived in Bonner Springs. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan., and recently had been attending Calvary Bible Church in Bonner Springs. He worked for Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Kansas City, Kan., for more than 28 years as an equipment operator and was a shop steward for the Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Walker, in 1997; a brother, John Walker, in 2002; and a sister, Linda Lewis, in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Walker; a stepson, Matthew Caquelin; a stepdaughter, Jenna Caquelin, all of the home; his mother, Wilma Walker, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Bill Walker, Jr., Edgerton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Dr. Benjamin E. White II
1927-2005
El Dorado, Kan.
Dr. Benjamin E. White II, 77, of El Dorado, Kan., died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Episcopal Church in El Dorado.
Dr. White was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Benjamin E. and Beulah V. (Murphy) White. He grew up in Bonner Springs, graduating from Bonner Springs High School with the Class of 1944.
He went to University of Kansas for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he served his country in Japan. He returned to the University of Kansas after the service and graduated in 1950. In 1949 he married Marilyn Jones in Chanute, Kan.
He attended the University of Kansas Medical School and graduated in 1954. In 1955, he moved to El Dorado and set up his medical practice. He retired in 1993. During his time in El Dorado he was responsible for delivering more than 3,500 babies. He and his partners built the El Dorado Clinic.
He was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church, having served on its vestry. He also served as a board member of the Butler County Historical Society, the Coutts Museum, Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, Kansas Children's Service League, the American Red Cross and Butler County Hospice. He was a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was a member of the Kansas Medical Society, the University of Kansas Alumni association and the University of Kansas Medical Society Alumni. He served a number of years as the coroner for Butler County.
Surviving family include his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Dr. Ted White and his wife, Becky (Barber) of El Dorado; Dr. Douglas K. White, M.D. and his wife, Kelli, of Hays, Kan; Luke White of Gillette, Wyo.; a daughter, Ginny, and her husband, Greg Hallagin of Burlington, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren, Sarah and Ben White; Neil and Paul White; DeAnna, Geoff and Ryan Coughlin; and Kelsey, Saul and Cassidy Hallagin. A brother, William White, and two sisters, Yvonne Phelps and Margaretta Foster , preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established with the Dr. Boudreau Scholarship Fund at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado. This scholarship helps fund Butler County students pursuing a medical degree. Contributions may be left with the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, 224 W. Ash, El Dorado KS 67042, which has charge of arrangements.
Frankie E. Brune
1915-2005
Leavenworth
Services for Frankie E. Brune, 89, Leavenworth, were Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, Leavenworth. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Brune died Jan. 31, 2005, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center, Tonganoxie. She was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Rosedale, the daughter of Calvin L. and Mary A. (Moore) White.
She married Glenn Brune on Nov. 10, 1932, in Leavenworth. He died Oct. 17, 1987.
She retired in 1981, after working for 35 years as a practical nurse at St. John and Cushing hospitals.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the First Christian Church of Leavenworth.
She had lived in Rosedale and Jarbalo, until she moved to Leavenworth in 1956.
Survivors include two sons, Albert Brune and Frank "Bill" Brune, both of Lansing; two daughters, Vonita "Bonnie" Hudson, Topeka, and Mary Jennings, Kingman, Ariz.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Donald D. Fleenor
1926-2005
Overland Park
Services for Donald D. Fleenor, 78, Overland Park, were Saturday, Jan. 22, at Amos Family Chapel. Inurnment was in Silent City Cemetery in De Soto.
Mr. Fleenor died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at his home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Scott County, the son of William and Lillian Goertz Fleenor. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1975 and then to Colorado Springs.
Mr. Fleenor served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II and in the U.S. Army following the war. He drove for Safeway Stores in the Kansas City area until he retired in 1998.
He married Dorothy Endacott. She died in 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Dreiling, Lawrence, and Elaine Moyer, Salina; two sons, Wayne Fleenor and Lee Fleenor, both of Hays; a stepson, James Chiga, Colorado Springs; a stepdaughter, Ann Chiga Wilson, Chicago; two sisters, Emily Galyon, Phoenix, and Alice Rinke, Wichita; a brother, Robert Fleenor, McPherson; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Old Mission United Methodist Church, sent in care of the chapel, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee Mission 66203.
