Roger L. Conlon Jr.
Roger L. Conlon Jr., 53, died Nov. 2, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1948, at North Hampton, Mass., the son of Roger L. Sr., and Rose Par-eesi Conlon. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he had been a Reno Coun-ty sheriff's deputy, serving since December 1998. He was formerly a Hutchinson policeman for 28 years, retiring from the department in 1998. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He belonged to the Hutchinson Noon Optimist Club, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Masonic Lodge, all at Hutchinson, and was a Civil War re-enactor. On Sept. 12, 1970, he married Carol Johnston Conlon at Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: his father and stepmother, Grace Conlon, Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, Michael, Calif., and John, Wisconsin; a half brother, Butch Alpaio, Rhode Island; and two half sisters, Rose Marie DiPalio and Pamela Alpaio, both of Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his mother. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, both at Heritage Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church Josephus Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Albert Ewy
MOUNDRIDGE - Albert Ewy, 84, died Nov. 3, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born May 7, 1917, in rural Moundridge, the son of Jacob J. and Minnie Hubin Ewy. He was a supervisor at Excel Industries for 18 years and a farmer. He belonged to United Methodist Church, Moundridge. On Aug. 4, 1939, he married Marie E. Dirks at Plentywood, Mont. She survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Earl, Van Buren, Ark., Jerry, Lenexa, and Arlen, Wichita; a daughter, Shirley Wenger, Wichita; a foster son, Ronald J. Johnson, Lawrence; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Fredrick, August, Herman, Waldo and Carl Ewy; and two sisters, Clara Bachman and Esther Brantley. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Moundridge, with Pastor Jeanine Rishel presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mound Township died Nov. 2, 2001, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. She was born April 22, 1914, at Culbertson, Neb., the daughter of Edward Martin and Cora Ellen Betz Kleven. She was a resident of Lindsborg since 1995, moving from Downey, Calif. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, and was involved in various local Lindsborg groups. On Jan. 29, 1939, she married Arthur C. Krogh at Superior, Neb. he died in 1980. Survivors include: numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, Neb., with Pastor Dorthea Fairbanks presiding. Friends may visit from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Hays-Christian Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Evergreen died Nov. 2, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.

Howard Leroy Scott
Howard Leroy Scott, 73, died Nov. 1, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born May 3, 1928, at Haven, the son of Fred and Dollye Belle Foster Scott. A lifetime resident of the Wichita and Hutchinson area, he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include: a daughter, Jody J. Martinez, Wichita; stepfather, Chester Johnson, Mount Hope; two brothers, Robert and Glen, both of Hutchinson; two sisters, Mildred Horner, Kenosha, Wis., and Mary Dodge, Hutchinson; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Roy and Billy; and three sisters, Hazel, Ruth and Wilma. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Laurel died Nov. 2, 2001, at Lane County Hospital, Dighton.

Samuel J. 'Sam' Green Sr.
Samuel J. "Sam" Green Sr., 62, died Nov. 2, 2001, at Langdon. He was born May 14, 1939, at Haven, the son of Char-les Samuel and Ida Mae Heim Green. A resident of Hutchinson since 1977, formerly of Kingman and Burrton, he was a 1957 graduate of Haven High School. He was the owner of Sam Green Construction Co. and a Rental Property owner, both at Hutchinson, and was former owner of service stations at Kingman and Burrton, and of Busters Cafe, Sun City. He was a former member of Fraternal Order Eagles Aerie No. 2550, Hutchinson. On Jan. 4, 1999, he married Linda Wing at Medicine Lodge. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Sam Jr., Hutchinson; four daughters, Sandy Becker, Nellie Curiel and Michelle Vargas, all of Hutchinson, and Carla Green, Pratt; a stepdaughter, Heather Warner, Ohio; a brother, Tom Green, Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Georgia McKeaver, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Pat Pendergrass, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; and two sisters, Ida Mae Houdashelt and Martha Prock. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Pamela J. Tinnin presiding. Cremation will take place. Friends may sign the registration book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Reno County Cancer Council, in care of the mortuary.

DODGE CITY - Heloise Jenilee Fehrenbach, 87, died Nov. 3, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City.

Ella Martha Mueller
HAVEN - Ella Martha Mueller, 98, died Nov. 3, 2001, at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 14, 1903, at Germantown, Wis., the daughter of Charles F. and Albertina Bauman Kinast. A longtime Haven resident, she was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven, the Haven Senior Center and Ladies Aid of the Church for 30 years. On Aug. 31, 1920, she married Walter Mueller at Denver. He died July 7, 1976. Survivors include: two daughters, Doris Showalter, South Hutchinson, and Ardean Morgan, Haven; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Vernon; and three sisters, Edna, Bertha and Ermatrude. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven, with the Rev. Donald Adolf presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Van Campen Funeral Home, Haven. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church died Nov. 3, 2001, at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. She was born June 28, 1932, at Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of John W. and Loretta Pratt Bauer. A resident of Moundridge for five years, formerly of Lee's Summit, Mo., she was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson. On July 2, 1954, she married Thomas W. Wren at Kansas City, Mo. He survives. Other survivors include: four sons, Harold, Arlington, Texas, John, Christiansburg, Va., George, Moundridge, and Michael, Omaha, Neb.; three daughters, Kathleen Cozad, Wichita, Elizabeth Quinn, North Pole, Alaska, and Frances Stark, Moundridge; two brothers, John Bauer Jr., Olathe, and George Bauer, Kansas City; two sisters, Ruth Bannister, Olathe, and Catherine Foster, Blue Springs, Mo.; and 25 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Tom W. Jr.; a brother, Harold; and two sisters, Anne Bauer and Betty Velghe. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, with Father Paul Oborny presiding. Bible vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moundridge Funeral Home, Moundridge. Burial will be in Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge. Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the funeral home.
