Vern Levi Myers
Vern Levi Myers, 84, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Nov. 18, 1916, at Windom, the son of Vade Hiram and Laura Adela Su-ndgren My-ers. A Hutchinson resident sin-ce 1981, moving from Little River, he was a graduate of Windom High School and attended Kansas State University. He was a retired farmer and had been employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, helping construct Kanopolis Reservoir and Dam.
He belonged to Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, was a former board member of Rockville and District No. 444 school districts and Farmers Home Administration, and served as treasurer of the Rockville Township. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
On Jan. 23, 1949, he married Pearl Adell Krob at Turon. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Janet L. Gobber, Hutchinson, and Patricia A. Dunmire, Leek, England; two brothers, Wesley, Phoenix, Ariz., and Gene Myers, Colville, Wash.; four sisters, Ailene Redding and Bonnie McMurray, both of Hutchinson, Laura Lee Norland, Galva, and Rozann Cedarholm, Lindsborg; and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastors Tim Adrain and Eldon Smith presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Excelsor Cemetery, Marquette, with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Mary C. Cook
KANOPOLIS - Mary C. Cook, 80, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Salina Regional Health Center, Santa Fe Campus.
She was born July 10, 1920, in Mexico, the daughter of Ventura Joe Lopez Torrez and Ramona Sanchez Lopez. She had been a United States resident since 1929, living most of her life in Kingman. She was an Elkan employee.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Kanopolis.
On Aug. 8, 1950, she married Earl Cook, at Kanopolis. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Robert M., Chatham, La.; a sister, Josephine Yunger, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by an infant son.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Kanopolis, with Father Daniel Scheetz presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kanopolis Cemetery.

Ruth A. Goertz
NEWTON - Ruth A. Goertz, 54, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Newton Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 20, 1946, at Andale, the daughter of Robert and Lucille Margaret Gresl Gorges. A longtime area resident, she was a bookkeeper for Halstead Hospital, for Hwa-Davis Construction and later was an office manager for Rhoades Construction.
She belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
On April 16, 1977, she married John Goertz at Newton. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Dwight John "D.J.," Newton; three brothers, Don and John, both of Andale, and Joe, Wichita.
Rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Floyd McKinney presiding. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

John W. Thompson
John W. Thompson, 73, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Jan. 27, 1927, at Jacket, Mo., the son of the late William Lee and Mary Ann Th-omas Tho-mpson. A Hutchinson resident for 36 years, formerly of Kingman and Pratt, he was a mechanic at Pratt, where he operated Thompson Roust-About.
He belonged to First Assembly of God, Hutchinson, and Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. National Guard.
On May 28, 1961, he married Pauline R. Rule at Pratt. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Freddie R. Riney, Richard L. Riney and Charles I. Riney, all of Hutchinson; three daughters, Mary Margaret Bailey, Wichita, Claudia Owens, Kingman, and Paula K. Maxfield, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Assembly of God Church, Hutchinson.

Marvin Hager
ANTHONY - Marvin Hager, 85, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Anthony.
He was born Aug. 8, 1915, at Montezuma, the son of Alvin and Florence Macgregor Hager. An Anthony resident since 1945, he was a retired maintenance man and custodian for Chaparral High School.
He belonged to United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 29, 1940, he married Helen Whitney at Anthony. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Randall, Fort Stockton, Texas; two daughters, Helen Elaine Watkins, Newton, and Carolyne Faye Ogden, Wichita; a brother, Victor, Greenville, Texas; three sisters, Frances Davis, Helena, Okla., Mabel Todd, California, and Mary Davidson, Kelso, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Home, Anthony. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.

JETMORE - May Law, 88, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
She was born Sept. 13, 1912, at Ness City, the daughter of Lon E. and Maggie Reynolds Abel. A lifetime Ness County resident, she was a homemaker.
On July 9, 1955, she married Orval Ray Law Jr. He died Jan. 30, 1992.
Survivors include: two sons, Raymond, Garfield, and Tommy Jones, Colbert, Ga.; a daughter, Sally Krehbiel, Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Ruth Ross, Reasnor, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Alfred, Albert, Ray, Ralph and Glenn; and two sisters, Irene and Ethel.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, with the Rev. Mitch Reece presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore.

LYONS - Frank Williams, 54, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.

Margaret Louise Rabenseifner
OLMITZ - Margaret Louise Rabenseifner, 84, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus, Great Bend.
She was born June 20, 1916, at Claflin, the daughter of Bert and Anna Reif Kaiser. A lifetime Barton County resident, she was a homemaker and nurse at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, for 18 years, retiring in 1982.
She belonged to St. Ann Catholic Church and Altar Society, both at Olmitz.
On May 2, 1939, she married Bernard A. Rabenseifner at Hoisington. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Bernard, Great Bend; four daughters, Darlene Hoffacker, Colorado Springs, Colo., Diane Zink, Claflin, Elaine Seeman, Lawrence, and Patti Rabenseifner, St. John; three brothers, Tony, Bushton, and Frank and Ed Kaiser, both of Hoisington; a sister, Rose Riedel, Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter; four half-brothers, Joe, Lawrence, Louie and John Kaiser; three sisters, Theresa Nather, Leona Stewart and Eleanor Schwartz, two half-sisters, Sister Bertrand Kaiser and Sister Rita Kaiser; and a great-grandchild.
Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by an Altar Society rosary, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, with Father Ultan Murphey presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Paul Maurice Link
STILLWATER, Okla. - Paul Maurice Link, 71, died Jan. 14, 2001, at Stillwater. He was born June 29, 1929, at Chase, the son of Paul and Marie Deutsch Link. He graduated from Chase High School. He worked on various oil rigs, and moving to Lyons, opened Chase Well Service, which he operated until his retirement in 1987. He then lived in Boulder City and Henderson, Nevada, moving to Stillwater in January 2001.
He belonged to St. Peter's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
On Dec. 14, 1950, he married Dixie Lee Simpson at Chase. She survives.
Others survivors include: two sons, Stephen, Plainville, and Randy, Hays; two daughters; three brothers; five sisters, including Carolyn Schoenhofer, Lyons, Kathleen Link, Great Bend, and Mary Sue Ackerman, Ellinwood; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
An Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ellinwood, with Father David Flagor presiding. LaVonne 'Grandy' M. Dickinson
SALINA - LaVonne "Grandy" M. Dickinson, 62, former Hutchinson resident, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Tucson, Ariz.
She was born May 29, 1938, at Sylvia, the daughter of John and Violet Gilbert Martin.
Survivors include: her mother, South Hutchinson; four daughters; a brother, six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church, Salina.
Cremation was arranged through Abbey Funeral Chapel, Tucson, Ariz.
Ruth V. Anderson
FRIEND - Ruth V. Anderson, 81, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Scott County Hospital, Scott City.
She was born Nov. 5, 1919, at Denver, the daughter of Roy Franklin and Mae Estella Burgin Jennings. She attended school in Jewel, Reno and Finney counties and was a graduate of Garden City High School. She moved to North West Finney County in 1988, formerly a resident of Scott County and Pueblo County, Colo. She had been a school bus driver for Pueblo County District No. 70 and a secretary at Pinon School and Doornbos Cattle.
She was a member of Prairie View Church of the Brethren, Friend, Kansas Old Time Fiddles, Pickers and Singers, and Hit and Miss Band, both at Scott City.
On Dec. 25, 1938, she married Elmer S. Anderson at Garden City. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Arthur "Butch," Canon City, Colo., and Arnold "Pete," Florissant, Mo.; a daughter, Wilma Palmer, Las Vegas; two brothers, Otis, Lakin, and Roy J. Jennings, American Canyon, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Jennings; and a sister, Kathryn McGuire.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Prairie View Church of the Brethren, Friend, with the Rev. Martin Gauby presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Edna Faye Weber
LARNED - Edna Faye Weber, 83, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned.
She was born Aug. 22,. 1917, at Portis, the daughter of Joseph C. and Lillie Maye Buchannan Knott. A lifetime Larned resident, she was a homemaker.
On May 23, 1949, she married G. Frank Weber at Larned. He died July 16, 1992.
Survivors include: two nieces, Betty Nolan and Misty Radcliff, both of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Lee; three brothers, Charles Jim and John; and a sister, Josephine Hazel Dawson.
A memorial gathering will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with the Rev. John Grummon presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday, and until service time Friday at the mortuary. Inurnment will be at a later date in Larned Cemetery.

Wesley Morgan Hendrickson
JETMORE - Wesley Morgan Hendrickson, 61, died Jan. 15, 2001, at his home in Jetmore.
He was born Nov. 28, 1939, in Hodgeman County, the son of Irvin Wesley and Daisy Pitts Hendrickson. A longtime Jetmore resident, he was a graduate of Jetmore High School and a farmer.
He belonged to First Baptist Church and Chester Hawkins American Legion Post No. 290, both at Jetmore. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962.
In October 1956, he married Nancy Reed. On Aug. 30, 1972, he married Sandy Jean Schlereth.
Survivors include: two sons, John, Spearville, and Michael, Jetmore; two daughters, Penny Baker, McPherson, and Lynette Alley, Monette, Mo.; his mother, Jetmore; a brother, Sam, Jetmore; a sister, Joyce Reed, Kalvesta; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Irvin Wesley.
