Sherry Scheuermann
Sherry Scheuermann, 36, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Jan. 19, 1963, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Jacob and Barbara Chase Scheuermann. She was a 1980 graduate of Hutchinson High School. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker and had worked in housekeeping at Hutchinson Hospital and managed the 16 Plus Store at the mall.
She belonged to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.
Survivors include: two sons, Jacob and Jadon Espinosa, both of the home; parents, Hutchinson; two brothers, Thomas and Donald Scheuermann, both of Hutchinson; companion, Marcos Espinosa, Hutchinson; and grandmother, Wilma Chase, Hutchinson.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson.

Nellie Fae Lemmon
Nellie Fae Lemmon, 83, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date by Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Helen M. Hines
Helen M. Hines, 94, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 11, 2000, at Ralph Thorns Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born March 4, 1905, in Marion County, the daughter of Newel Benjamin and Jessie A. McClure DuBois. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1923, Northern Colorado Teachers College, Greeley, Colo., and from Kansas State Normal School, Emporia, in 1928. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she taught at Steamboat Springs, Colo., Grade School for three years and at Allen Grade School, Hutchinson, for 37 years before retiring.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson the Area Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and the Salt Shakers Camping Chapter, all at Hutchinson.
On Aug. 8, 1956, she married
A.C. "Al" Hines at Hutchinson. He died Feb. 14, 1993.
Survivors include: a stepdaughter, Gail E. Homich, Apache Junction, Ariz.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Prairie Lawn cemetery, Peabody, with the Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

James `Jim' Shannon
James "Jim" Shannon, 60, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 5, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1939, at Salina, the son of Clarence Jay and Letia Maude Pyle Shannon. A Hutchinson resident since 1973, he was a retired truck driver.
He belonged to St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Ellsworth, and served on the Tree Board for the City of Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy.
On May 19, 1962, he married
Carol F. Vopat at Ellsworth. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, James L. II, Derby; a daughter, Donna Wapelhorst, Pretty Prairie; five brothers, Arthur, Albuquerque, Jack, David and Charles, all of Salina, and Clarence Joe, Vidor, Texas; six sisters, Ethel Geer, Pinellas Park, Fla., Letia Gay, Wichita, Margaret Yeagley, Gladys Denny and Clara Herbel, all of Salina, and Mary Knight, Fredonia, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, C.J.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Ellsworth, with Father Dan Scheetz presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Cremation has taken place. Private burial will be in Ellsworth cemetery.

Angel M. `Tony' Garcia
Angel M. "Tony" Garcia, 85, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 5, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Oct. 1, 1914, at La Junta, Colo., the son of Juan R. and Eulalia Martinez Garcia. A Hutchinson resident since 1914, he was a retired employee of Hutchinson Ready Mix and a former employee of Nash-Finch and Larabee Mills, all at Hutchinson.
He belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, the Knights of Columbus, and was a life member of the G.I. Forum.
On Nov. 21, 1936, he married
Manuela "Nellie" Vieyra at Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Angel M. Jr. and Johnnie T., both of Hutchinson; seven daughters, Amelia "Molly" Carter, Lydia Saiz and Christine Montes, all of Hutchinson, Theresa Mirelez, Angelina Agoitia and Eulalia "Lollie" Luna, all of San Antonio, and Mercedes Corne, Tucson, Ariz.; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Avalina Garcia; two brothers; and two sisters.
Parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Father Colin Boor presiding. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Father Ned Blick presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Eastside cemetery, Hutchinson.

Benjamin `Ben' Exposito
Benjamin "Ben" Exposito, 76, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 6, 2000, at Hospice Residential Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born March 13, 1923, at Monett, Mo., the son of Faline and Ida May Harvill Exposito. He graduated from watch-making school at Albany, Mo. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a retired jeweler, working for the former Fleishman Jewelry and having managed Kay's Jewelers, both at Hutchinson. After retirement, he owned Ben's Clock Shop, Hutchinson.
He belonged to American Legion Lyle Rishel Post No. 68, Hutchinson, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On May 19, 1946, he married
Dorothy B. Allen at Albany, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Parker, Hutchinson, and Lynn, Partridge; a daughter, Peggy Chappel, Hutchinson; three sisters, Emma Goetz, Stillwell, Fern Taylor, Springdale, Ark., and Opal Holland, Monett; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Duane Schmidt presiding. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Mildred Kopper
Mildred Kopper, 90, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 5, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1910, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Gustaf and Pearl Wilkinson Samuelson. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1927, attended Southwestern College, Winfield, and received a master's degree from Northern College. Greeley, Colo. A Hutchinson resident since 1980, she taught at Plains, Stockton, Lincoln, Leavenworth and Wichita, retiring in 1972.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, the Knife and Fork Club and the Retired Teachers Association, all at Hutchinson. She served on several boards at Wesley Towers and was active with the Hutchinson Community Concerts.
On Aug. 28, 1931, she married
Paul G. Kopper at Hutchinson. He died Feb. 20, 1988.
Survivors include: a sister, Gladys Kothavala, Pune, India; a nephew; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Dean L.; and a brother, Frank Samuelson.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
