Ethel Norris
Ethel Norris, 94, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 5, 2000, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born May 5, 1905, at Centerville, the daughter of Charles Chester and Ida Purdue Long. A Hutchinson resident since 1958, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to First Christian Church, La Cygne, attended First Christian Church, Hutchinson, and was a member of Royal Neighbors of America.
On Aug. 7, 1927, she married
Charles C. Hayes at Versailles, Mo. He died Aug. 3, 1949. On March 23, 1956, she married
William D. Norris at Raton, N.M. He died Feb. 23, 1982.
Survivors include: a son, Charles C. Hayes Jr., Kansas City, Mo.; a stepson, Keith Norris, Amarillo, Texas; two stepdaughters, Nadine Redinger and Nila Showalter, both of Hutchinson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Rose Harmon; a brother; two sisters; and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kim Biery presiding. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Florence T. Lang-Dick
Florence T. Lang-Dick, 67, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 5, 2000, at Hospice Residential Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born June 17, 1932, at Ness City, the daughter of Adam and Kate Meis Lang. She graduated from St. Teresa's High School, Hutchinson. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson.
Survivors include: two daughters, Darci A. Lang, Minnesota, and Lisa R. Law, Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Richard Lang, Ellinwood, Alden Lang, Hutchinson, and Ernie Lang, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Albertina Albracht, Nebraska, Virginia Lindsey, Wichita, and Mildred Ensz, Hutchinson; and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Herman and Arthur Lang; and two sisters, Martina Petersilie and Lora Jean Lang.
Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Richard Stuchlik presiding. Friends may sign the register at the mortuary. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson.

Violet M. Edwards
Violet M. Edwards, 94, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 19, 1905, at Paradise, the daughter of Hugh M. and Eunice M. Daniel Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Natoma High School in 1925. A Hutchinson resident since 1949, moving from Atchison and previously of Manhattan, she was a homemaker and former teacher.
She belonged to Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson.
On June 6, 1926, she married
Warren B. Edwards at Paradise. He died May 19, 1979.
Survivors include: two sons, William W., Wichita, and Kenneth L., Topeka; a daughter, Katherine Heathman, Tucson; a sister, Ellen Koehler, Natoma; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Lewis McPherren presiding. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Wamego cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Geraldine Ada `Jerri' Beshears
Geraldine Ada "Jerri" Beshears, 64, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Ottawa County, the daughter of Frank and Olga Moneypenny Wakefield. She attended Hutchinson schools. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include: a daughter, Denise Cairns, Deer Park, Texas; a brother, Don Wakefield, Hutchinson; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Carl Gene Tipton.
Cremation took place. There will be no service.
Johnson & Son's Funeral Home, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.
Mary J. Schnurr
Mary J. Schnurr, 74, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Hutchinson.
She was born July 16, 1925, at La Junta, Colo., the daughter of James L. and Mary E. Pearson Forbes. She attended Hutchinson High School and graduated from Wichita East in 1943. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a manager of the former Calhoun's Department Store and worked at Wiley's Department Store.
She belonged to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 Auxiliary, Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 28, Salt Shakers and Serendipity Camping Clubs, RSVP volunteer, and GABA LX Home Extension Unit.
On May 8, 1945, she married
Frank W. Schnurr at Berkeley, Calif. He died June 13, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Dean, Hutchinson; a daughter, Leslye Dill, Hutchinson; two sisters, Dorothy Jorgensen and Laura Jones, both of Westminster, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Furman presiding. There will be a registry book to sign today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Lester C. Banka
Lester C. Banka, 75, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Nov. 28, 1924, at Council Grove, the son of John and Katherine Thowe Banka. He was a Council Grove High School graduate and attended business college in Salina. A Hutchinson resident since 1959, moving from Salina and living in Wichita for a short time, he was an accountant for 18 years at FAR MAR CO, retiring in 1977. He then was a real estate agent.
He belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, Albert Pike Lodge A.F. & A.M. and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, both of Wichita, and American Legion Lyle Rishel Post No. 68, Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
On Nov. 7, 1954, he married
Evelyn L. McClung at Salina. She died Oct. 23, 1963.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dianne Offerman, Wichita, and Susan Fesler, Abbyville; a brother, Irvin Banka, Overland Park; a sister, Lillian Rhodes, Overland Park; and five grandchildren, Katie, Brian and Aaron Fesler, all of Abbyville, and Michael and Teresa Offerman, Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clarence Banka.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the mortuary. Masonic service will be conducted by Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. & A.M. Flag presentation will be given by American Legion Lyle Rishel Post No. 68. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson.
