Gladys May Frank
Gladys May Frank, 91, of Hutchinson, died May 26, 2000, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
She was born Aug. 3, 1908, at Rozel, the daughter of Daniel and Nellie Brodbeck Sidebottom. A Hutchinson resident since 1936, she was a homemaker and had spent 68 years traveling as an assistant to her husband, who was a professional magician and owned Zogi Productions.
On Sept. 26, 1926, she married
Clarence A. Frank at Dodge City. He died Aug. 13, 1999.
Survivors include: two daughters, Helen Bornholdt and Lorene Shaffer, both of Hutchinson; a brother, Lawrence Sidebottom, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Michael P. Milliken presiding. Private graveside services will be held in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Walter Midfelt Jr.
Walter Midfelt Jr., 69, of Hutchinson, died May 26, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1931, at Longford, the son of Walter and Zella M. Ramey Midfelt. He attended Longford schools and Hutchinson Community College. He was retired from Container Craft Inc. where he was a truck driver.
He belonged to Christ's Bible Church, Nickerson, where he served on the Leadership Board. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1968, retiring as staff sergeant.
On March 22, 1981, he married
Carolyn Ann Martin at Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, John F. Midfelt, Palmdale, Calif.; a daughter, Rita DeMay, Kansas; two stepsons, Jerry Martin Jr., Wichita, and Jim Martin, Austin, Texas; two stepdaughters, Cindy Miller, Salina, and Lori Strong, Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson, with Pastor David Landis presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery, Hutchinson.

Betty Lucille Culver
Betty Lucille Culver, 76, of Hutchinson, died May 26, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born June 20, 1923, at Great Bend, the daughter of Harry and Maude Ring Sipes. She attended school in Cimarron. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Methodist Church.
On Feb. 25, 1945, she married
Donald L. Culver at Dodge City. He survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Linda Culver and Connie Simpson, both of Hutchinson, and Donna Preston, Wichita; a sister, Doris Jean Smith, Hutchinson; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Charlie, Ted, Edwin and Bob Sipes; and a sister, Mina Dean.
Memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson. The body was cremated.

Ethelyn R. Van Buren
Ethelyn R. Van Buren, 91, of Hutchinson, died May 22, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born May 28, 1908, at Windom, the daughter of William E. and Astrid Akerson Rostine. A longtime resident of the rural Burrton-Haven area, she was a graduate of McPherson High School and McPherson College. She was a schoolteacher for 45 years, teaching at Windom, Burrton, and at Prosperity School, Haven, where she developed and instructed the remedial reading program for USD 312.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teachers society. She was a 1999 nominee to the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame and served on many educational panels. She was also an officer and volunteer with the Haven Senior Citizen Center.
On Sept. 27, 1936, she married
G. Lee Van Buren at McPherson. He died Dec. 31, 1991.
Survivors include: a brother, Boyd L. Rostine, Hutchinson; a sister, Phyllis R. Schmitt, Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Rostine.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Dr. D. Allen Polen Jr. presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in McPherson City cemetery.

Lawrence Todd Miller
Lawrence Todd Miller, 88, of Hutchinson, died May 21, 2000, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born May 24, 1911, at Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Lowman and Cora Mae Fleming Miller. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was employed at Western Foods for 27 years, retiring in 1973 as a supervisor.
He was a member of the Walnut & Campbell Church of Christ at Hutchinson, and was a former Republican Party precinct chairman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Oct. 24, 1945, he married
Edna E. Grub in Reno County. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Martha S. Robertson, Bennington; two sisters, Anna Parrott, DeWitt, Iowa, and Dorothy Tratchel, Killduff, Iowa; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melva Jean Good; four brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimmie Keas presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at the mortuary, with the family present for friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson.

Lawrence H. Mora
Lawrence H. Mora, 75, of Hutchinson, died Oct. 14, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Aug. 10, 1925, at Hutchinson, the son of Margarito and Sophia Hernandez Mora. He graduated from Hutchinson High School and Salt City Business College. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, he was retired from Southard Home Improvement.
He belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and was a former Parish Council president, all of South Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
On Aug. 24, 1946, he married
Guadalupe "Lupe" Marquez at Hutchinson. She died April 14, 2000.
Survivors include: four sons, Lawrence P., Martin C., Mark A. and Edward A., all of Hutchinson; two daughters, Cristina A. Palacioz and Emilia L. Garcia, both of Hutchinson; a brother, Theodore, Hutchinson; two sisters, Sanjuana Caudillo, Hutchinson, and Genevive Mora, Florence; 28 grandchildren; and 24-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Isabel Castor.
Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Father Ned Blick presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Carrick R. Walker
Carrick R. Walker, 26, of Hutchinson, died May 12, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1974, at Hutchinson, the son of Ricard and Maggi Conger Walker. He graduated from Hutchinson High School and received his BFA from Baker University in 1997. He was employed by Riddles Jewelry Store.
He belonged to the Hutchinson Art Association.
Survivors include: his mother and stepfather, Maggi and Ken Spain, Hutchinson; two brothers, Joel Walker and Andrew Spain, both of Hutchinson; a sister, Lauren Spain, Hutchinson; and grandmother, Betty Gene Conger, Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandfather, Fred Conger.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson. He will lie in state from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson.

Dorothy Mae Carey
Dorothy Mae Carey, 86, of Hutchinson, died May 7, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Dec. 11, 1923, at Stafford, the daughter of Frank and Gladys Goble Corwin. She attended Hutchinson public schools. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Full Gospel Church, Hutchinson.
She married
the Rev. Charles Pinkston. He died July 4, 1984. On July 22, 1985, she married
Lenel Carey at Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Gary Pinkston, Hutchinson; two daughters, Carole Miller and Cheryl Vetter, both of Hutchinson; seven stepsons, Chester Pinkston, Jesse Pinkston, Duane Carey, Bryan Carey, Paul Carey, Timothy Carey and Joseph Carey, all of Hutchinson; three stepdaughters, Alice Pinkston, Hutchinson, Loretta Starks, Burrton, and Treva Carey, Hayward, Calif.; two brothers, Lawrence Corwin, Hutchinson, and Dennis Corwin, Kinsley; two sisters, Irene Smith and Carol Mathias, both of Hutchinson; 31 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, George Pinkston; and a brother, Richard Corwin.
