Aileen M. Smith
Aileen Marie Smith, 86, died Feb. 18, 2005, at Hutchinson.
She was born July 2, 1918, the daughter of Sebron L. and Mollie Mae Bible Tate. She grew up in Mullinville and lived in Ellinwood, Odessa, Texas, Greensburg and Hutchinson. She was a secretary for the Panhandle Eastern Gas Company of Greensburg and the American Red Cross, Hutchinson.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Odessa Garden Club, and was an accomplished organist, playing most recently for the Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On Feb. 14, 2004, she married
Earl Butler Smith at Mullinville.
Survivors include: a son, Steve Smith, Hutchinson; a daughter, Shelia Hornecker, Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two half brothers, George and Robert Austin; and three sisters, Madeline Barnes, Audrey Fry and Phyllis Puyear-Voll.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fleener Chapel, Greensburg, with the Rev. Tim McCrary presiding. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery, Mullinville.

Donna M. Wiegel
Donna Marie Wiegel, 80, died Feb. 19, 2005, at Dillon Living Center.
She was born Nov. 6, 1924, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Willis Orville and Goldie Cecil Hegarty Hopper. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, she was a former employee of S.H. Kress Co., F.W. Woolworth Co., Winsteads Photography and Cessna Co.
She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church and assisted with the children's ministry.
On Feb. 8, 1957, she married
Victor Wiegel at Hutchinson. He died Feb. 10, 1972.
Survivors include: a son, Gregg A., Iberia, Mo.; a daughter, Glenda Mann, Hutchinson; a brother, Orville Hopper, Hutchinson; four sisters, Grace Childs, Plevna, Lavita Corley, Phoenix, Lorine Webb, Stockton, and Jean Enns, St. Martinsburg, W. Va.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Milton; and two sisters, Willa Stone and Frances Wallace.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gregg A. Wiegel and Pastor Harold Nelson presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park cemetery. The casket will be open at the church prior to the service.

Marciel E. Swank
Marciel E. Benbrook Swank, 64, died Dec. 11, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1940, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Roy and Esther Lamb Benbrook. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Full Gospel Assembly, Hutchinson, and TOPS, Chapter No. 153.
On June 19, 1956, she married
Vernon R. Swank at Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, V. Richard Swank II, South Hutchinson; two daughters, Verna Case, South Hutchinson, and Phyllis Swank, Hutchinson; a sister, Carma Melton, Palms Springs, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tom Dillwith presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

James L. Shafer
James L. Shafer, 86, died Dec. 30, 2004, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.
He was born June 3, 1918, at Hutchinson, the son of Orton J. and Laura Duncan Shafer. A longtime resident of the Huntsville community, moving to Hutchinson in 1994, he graduated from Nickerson High School in 1936. He was a retired Cessna machinist and farmer.
He belonged to Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy serving in the Philippines during World War II.
On Jan. 2, 1941, he married
Juanita May Horney at Huntsville. She died May 9, 2002.
Survivors include: a son, Lawrence, Hutchinson; four daughters, Mary Moeckel, Fort Collins, Colo., Virginia Gibson, Tribune, Barbara Ruta, Hutchinson and Connie Shafer, Flint, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sara Dillinger presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery.

Leah M. Speiser
Leah Margaret Speiser, 60, died Jan. 13, 2005, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 9, 1944, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Ike and Margaret Martens Nickel. She was a longtime resident of Hutchinson, formerly of Kansas City.
She was of the Jewish faith.
She married
Moses Speiser. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three sisters, Faith Adams, Topeka, Martha Tamburrano, Upland, Calif., and Charlotte Nickel, Emporia.
Cremation is planned. A private memorial service will be held.

Charles L. Henry Jr.
Charles L. "Chico" Henry Jr., 49, died Jan. 14, 2005, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Feb. 23, 1955, at Nowata, Okla., the son of Chalk and Anne Woods Henry. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was an electrician.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, being awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Survivors include: his wife, Robyn; two sons, Charles Aron and Robert Baker, both of Hutchinson; two daughters, Sara Hackler, McPherson, Camille Henry, Arizona; three stepdaughters, Ashley Grimes, Amanda and Heaven Mayer, all of Hutchinson; his mother, Anne Henry, Great Bend; three brothers, William, Dewey, Okla., Mark and Michael Peyton, both of Tulsa, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Guy.
Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
