Oscar W. Norby
MANHATTAN - Oscar W. Norby, 85, died July 2, 2004, at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan.
He was born Sept. 13, 1918, at Hutchinson. He graduated from Pratt High School in 1936. He received his Ph.D in 1961 from the University of Wisconsin. A resident of Manhattan, he retired from KSU Cooperative Extension in August, 1981. After retirement, he devoted his time to the Riley County Council on Aging, Riley County Senior Center and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He served in the U.S. Navy V-7 program.
On April 28, 1946, he married
Pauline Misemer at Albany, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son; a daughter; a brother; two sisters, including Melba Scott, Pratt; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, with the Rev. Robert Cam McConnell presiding. Burial will follow in Sunrise cemetery, Manhattan. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Kansas 4-H Foundation or Alzheimer's Association, both in care of the funeral home.
Faye C. Stephens
Faye C. Stephens, 88, died Nov. 5, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Oct. 5, 1916, in rural Stafford County, the daughter of Clair and Ruby Leatherman Jordan. A longtime Reno County resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, Hutchinson, Elmdale Senior Center and AARP.
On Dec. 7, 1932, she married
Jessie Lee Stephens at Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Clair, Brentwood, Tenn.; a daughter, Sandra Wiencko, Hutchinson; a brother, Marvin Jordan, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Patty Jo Stephens and Shirley Braswell; and a sister, Ellen Soft.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Albin presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Winnifred Giesaking
CHANDLER, Ariz. - Winnifred Giesaking, 74, died Oct. 29, 2004, at Chandler.
She was born April 30, 1930, at Wichita, the daughter of Fred and Pauline Tullis. Growing up at Hutchinson and later moving to Garden City and Ulysses, she was a Chandler resident since 1985.
On Oct. 8, 1950, she married
Lawrence H. Giesaking at Garden City. He died July 30, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Mark Giesaking, Ulysses; five daughters, Patricia Barnes, Hutchinson, Karen Solt, Wamego, Susan Giesaking, Chandler, Janet Chastain, Hutchinson, and Christine Wooley, Ulysses; a brother, Paul Tullis, Chandler; two sisters, Thelmas Tullis and Helen Wells, Mesa, Ariz; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Tullis; and a half sister, Mildred Strausheim.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Loren Mai presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.

Arlo L. Zent
Arlo F. Zent, 98, died Feb. 5, 2004, at Memorial Hermann Hospital, The Woodlands, Texas.
He was born May 6, 1905, at Hutchinson, the son of George W. and Arminnie Morrison Zent. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he retired as a vocational instructor at Hutchinson Reformatory.
He belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson.
On Aug. 26, 1928, he married
Mabel F. Perkins. She died June 19, 1992.
Survivors include: a son Max and his wife Marilyn Zent, The Woodlands, Texas; a grandson, Steve Zent, and his family, Spring, Texas; two granddaughters, Shelly Sansing, The Woodlands, and Karen Zent and her husband George Harris Jr., Alexandria, Va.; and five great-grandchildren, Michelle Bosse, Lindsey Schaper, Dillon Zent, and Taylor and Shylor Sansing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Arlo Zent Jr. in 1982.
Graveside service will be in 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Robert B. Brooks presiding.

Samuel C. Kelman
BALDWIN, Ill. - Samuel Calvin Kelman, 91, died Oct. 28, 2004, at Red Bud Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 12, 1913, at Reno County. A resident of Baldwin, Ill., formerly of Hutchinson, he was a retired cattle farmer.
He married
Margaret Rose Janzen. She died Jan. 29, 2003.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no services.
Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
Rodney L. Albright
PRETTY PRAIRIE - Rodney Lee Albright, 50, died Oct. 27, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Nov. 9, 1953, at Kingman, the son of Orlan and Doris Stucky Albright. A longtime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, he was a game warden for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
He belonged to Pretty Prairie Saddle Club, Pretty Prairie Booster Club, Kansas Officers' Association and Fraternal Order of Police, Hutchinson.
On Oct. 3, 1993, he married
Karen Barton at Pretty Prairie. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dennis, Kingman, and Andy, Galva; a daughter, Amelia Yust, Hutchinson; a sister, Nita Johnston, Haven; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Cross.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eric Zacharias presiding. Friends may call from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in Lonestar cemetery, Pretty Prairie.
