Verna Eula Metz
ST. JOHN - Verna Eula Metz, 80, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 23, 1920, at Milfay, Okla., the daughter of John H. and Sallie E. McCann. She was a graduate of Oxford High School. A St. John resident since 1947, coming from Meade, she was a sales clerk for McIntire Pharmacy, St. John, and worked at Boeing Aircraft during World War II.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church and the BPW, both at St. John.
On Feb. 21, 1947, she married Morrison Green "Bud" Metz at Great Bend. He died Aug. 7, 1980.
Survivors include: a son, John E., Wichita; a brother, Elmer McCann, Sedan; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, and four sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with Lewis Hearne presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John.

Mary Friesen
INMAN - Mary Friesen, 96, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
She was born Sept. 11, 1904, in McPherson County, the daughter of John and Anna Doerksen Regehr. A lifetime resident of Inman, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman.
On Aug. 3, 1924, she married Jacob I. Friesen at Inman. He died Dec. 27, 1990.
Survivors include: a sister, Agatha Smyres, Inman.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John D., Aron D. and George D.; five sisters, Anna Pauls, Katie Ediger, Sara Wiens, Helen Hildebrand and Justina Neufeld; and two infant siblings.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, with Pastor Michael Knowles presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Buhler Mortuary, Buhler. Burial will be in North Inman Cemetery, rural Inman.

Kenneth Eugene Dickerson
SATANTA - Kenneth Eugene Dickerson, 44, died Jan. 11, 2001, at rural Grant County.
He was born Feb. 21, 1956, at Garden City, the son of Dolores L. Taton Szekula. A lifetime Satanta-area resident, he was a caretaker on the family farm.
Survivors include: his mother, Lakin; four brothers, Richard LeBrun, Beaverton, Ore., George Dickerson, Holcomb, John Dickerson, Glendive, Mont., and Michael Szekula, Lakin; two sisters, Tawanna Groth and Shelly Morgan, both of Lakin; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mildred Taton; and a brother and sister, Donnie and Cindy.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, with the Rev. Fred M. Hauck II presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.

Manuel F. Hernandez
DODGE CITY - Manuel F. Hernandez, 55, died Jan. 12, 2001, at Western Plains Regional Hospital, Dodge City.
He was born May 22, 1945, at Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Rafael and Victoria Flores Hernandez. A Dodge City resident since December 1998, moving from San Diego, he was employed at Excel, Dodge City.
He was a member of Alco-holics Anonymous, Dodge City.
On Aug. 10, 1975, he married Maria Belen Vargas at Mexico. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Rafael, Dodge City; three daughters, Lorena Hernandez, Maria Hernandez and Belen Hernandez, all of Dodge City; a brother, Ramon Hernandez, Mexico; two sisters, Antonia Hernandez and Lurdes Hernandez, both of Mexico; and two grandchildren.
Private family services will take place at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Cremation took place.
Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, is in charge of arrangements.
Michael Eugene 'Tree Top' George
Michael Eugene "Tree Top" George, 45, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1955, at Shreveport, La., the son of Ruby Franklin. He had been a Hutchinson resident for 20 years, moving from Shreveport.
Survivors include: a companion, Mary Ann Golding, Hutchinson; a son, Micheal E. Jr., Garden City; two daughters, Tuesday and Lakisha George, both of California; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Golding and Patricia Arlene Golding, both of Hutchinson; three brothers, Donald, Larry and Willie George, all of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Caroline George, Shreveoprt; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Bill Green presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home, Hutchinson.

Harold Edwin Davis
CULLISON - Harold Edwin Davis, 82, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Friendship Manor, Pratt.
He was born Jan. 22, 1918, at Potwin, the son of Charles E. and Nellie Angleton Davis. A Cullison resident since 1947, he was a retired mechanic.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, Potwin, Pratt Elks Lodge No. 1451, VFW and American Legion, Pratt, Moose Lodge, Dodge City. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
In 1941, he married Lola Carey at Louisiana. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Dennis, Topeka; a daughter, Delva Hutchins, Cullison; two sisters, Lois Pierce and Irene McKenzie, both of El Dorado; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Private family services will take place. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, Cullison.

Albert A. Wachs
LINCOLN - Albert A. Wachs, 96, Lincoln, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Lincoln County Hospital.
He was the stepfather of Erwin Choitz, Hutchinson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Ellsworth.

Wesley W. Kittle
Wesley W. Kittle, 88, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Nov. 1, 1912, at Nor-wich, the son of Wiley W. and Nan-nie Knotts. A longtime Abbyville community resident, moving to Hutchinson in 1987, he was a 1932 graduate of Abbyville High School. He was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, rural Nickerson, church treasurer, Abbyville Senior Citizens, helped form the original Farmers Cooperative Board, Abbyville, which provided a polling place for elections in Enterprise Township.
On Sept. 17, 1935, he married Elsie M. Deck at Abbyville. She died July 17, 2000.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Michel-stetter, Hutchinson, and Janet Brosius and son-in-law, Tom, South Hutchinson; a brother, Archie Kittle, Hutchinson; a sister, Julie Ehling, Hutch-inson; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Kittle; a grandson, Travis Brosius; four brothers, infant Glenn, Frank, Emery and John; and four sisters, Emma King, Susie Wallace, Lucille Brown and Chloe Cooley.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Ed Furman presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m., at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Dorothy Estella Betty Meier
Dorothy Estella Betty Meier, 84, died Jan. 10, 2001, at Oakwood Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 23, 1916, at Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Robert Port-er and Ethel Estella Mc-Neely Betty. A Hutchin-son resident since 1955, she was a 1935 graduate of El Dorado High School. She was a tailor for Kosanky's Tailor Shop in El Dorado, Ks. She worked as a secretary for Hutchinson Scale and Service. A legal secretary for two attorney's, William L. Mitchell and E. Dexter Galloway, and secretary for Bob Dutton Oil. She retired a clerk of the Magistrate Court in Hutchinson.
A member of the First Christian Church, a life member of the Women of the Moose, College of Regents, Academy of Friendship and Star Recorders, all of the Hutchinson Moose Lodge No. 1371, Bob Campbell VFW Post No. 1361 Auxiliary, Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 28, AARP No. 451, American Working Business Women Blowing Sands Chapter, OWL'S Group and Christian Couples Class of the church. While in El Dorado, she was a Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. Dorothy has the American Red Cross Reno County record for donating the most blood. She has donated 18 3/4 gallons from the 1940s to 1995.
She married Lewis C. Killion, Nov. 30, 1935, in El Dorado, Ks. They divorced, he died Sept. 2, 1961. She married Frank M. Klinkerman, June 11, 1955, at El Dorado, Ks. They were divorced. He died Jan. 26, 1986. She married Roy E. Meier, July 10, 1960, in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 6, 1994.
Survivors include: two sons, Mr. Robert and Ann Killion of Pahrump, Nevada, Mr. Ronald and Terry Klinkerman of Hutchinson; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Kathryn "Kathi" and Marshall White of Hutchinson; three stepsons, Mr. William K. Meier of Wichita, Mr. James and Elaine Meier of Hutchinson, and Mr. Larry and Tish Meier of Wichita; two sisters-in-law, Velma Betty of El Dorado, Ks., and Marjorie Averrett of Grand Junction, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Killion; and two brothers, Frederick Alfred Betty and Glenn Isaac Betty.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Melvin Walton presiding. College of Regents Ceremony conducted by Women of Moose Chapter 1371. Howard Wilson Zook
ROZEL - Howard Wilson Zook, 87, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Larned.
He was born Jan. 10, 1914, at Pawnee County, the son of Charles and Viola Grubb Zook. A lifetime Pawnee County resident, he was a retired farmer.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, and was first organizer of the 4-H Rozel Hustler, all at Rozel.
On June 8, 1938, he married Norma Eileen Cook at Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Howard Michael, Garden City, John B., Tierra Blanco, Old Mexico, and Mark, Longmont, Colo.; four daughters, Sharron Brown, Great Bend, Carmen Franz, Warrensburg, Mo., Dolretta Hagerty, Larned, and Zella Sanner, Spring Valley, Calif.; three brothers, Charles A., Lakewood, Calif., Willard, Azle, Texas, and Ronald, Turner, Ore.; a sister, Hazel Query, Panorama, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Estel; and a sister, Wilma Jennings.

Mark Steven Roush, 35, died Jan. 7, 2001, at his home in Hutchinson.
He was born Nov. 25, 1965, at Hutchinson, the son of Allen and Jean Blair Roush. A Hutchinson High School graduate, he also attended the University of Kansas.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include: a son, Allen Roush, Hutchinson; a brother; a sister; and a grandmother, Cora Fulton, Hutch-inson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
