Sylvia Kibbe

Sylvia Ernestine Kibbe, 67, of Wichita, daughter of Laura Lee and sister of Kay Lee, both of Valley Center, died Aug. 6, 2004, at her daughter’s home in Rancho Cordova, Calif. Service was Aug. 11 at Cochran Mortuary, Wichita.

She was a 1954 graduate of North High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Kibbe Jr., who preceded her in death.

Other survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lisa Kibbe of Austin, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie Kibbe and Mike Kopriva of San Jose, Calif., Stephanie and Michael Cardenaz of Rancho Cordova, Kathy and Barry McKinney of Jackson, Miss.; grandchildren, Philip, Rick, Jeff, Robert, Tiffany, Kelly, Casey, Charlie, Jamie; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Sequoia.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society 435 S. Broadway, Suite 100, Wichita 67202.

Pauline Ledgerwood

Pauline J. Ledgerwood, 76, of Andover, stepmother of Marilyn Zimmerman of Valley Center, died Aug. 3, 2004. Service was Aug. 9 at Federated Church, Whitewater.

She was a former Whitewater resident.

Other survivors include her sons, Raymond Spedding of Miami, Fla., Charles Spedding of Wichita, Shawn Spedding of Lee Summit, Mo.; daughter, Debbie Hardman of Wichita; stepsons, Terry Ledgerwood of Whitewater, Steve Ledgerwood of Eureka; sister, Elizabeth Shields of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Whitewater Grade School. Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater, had charge.

Edra Waggoner

Edra Lee Holt Waggoner, 60, of Wichita, retired office specialist at J.C. Penney’s, died Aug. 9, 2004. Service is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at West Side Church of God, 1900 McCormick, Wichita, and at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park cemetery, Anthony.

She was born July 8, 1944, in Wichita, the daughter of Roland “Bill” Lee Holt and Alvora Paulin Horsley. She retired from J.C. Penney’s Inc., Wichita, after 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ron and John Holt; parents-in-law, Vincent and Jewell Waggoner.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Waggoner of the home; son, Chris Waggoner; sister, Linda Payne; brothers, David and Alan Holt, all of Wichita.

A memorial has been established with the church. Baker Funeral Home has charge.

Crescencio Flores

Crescencio Flores, 80, of Wichita, father of Vicky Fields of Park City, died Aug. 4, 2004. He was a retired receiving supervisor for Pratt Lambert. Service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home, Wichita.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel.

Other survivors include his wife, Rosie Flores of Andover; sons, Mark Flores, Bobby Flores; daughters, Ruth Morris, Christine Godetz, Terry Adams, Susan Davis, Kathy Choens, Barbara Goosen, all of Andover, Judy Kennedy of Sedgwick; brothers, James of Newton, Elias, Arthur, Danny, all of Wichita; sisters, Erlinda, Martha, Mary Ann, all of Wichita, Molly of Colorado; 27 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

David Brewer

David Clair Brewer, 38, of Valley Center, died Aug. 9, 2004. Services are pending.

Bryant Funeral Home has charge.

William Robison

William Roy Robison, 55, of Dodge City, son of Joe and Helen Robison of Valley Center, died June 25, 2002. He worked in wall paneling sales and delivery and at Boeing, Beech and Coleman. Memorial service is at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Valley Center. Private family burial will be at a later date at Ness City cemetery.

He was born June 15, 1947, in Dodge City, the son of Joseph O. Robison and Helen L. Jaehde. He was a 1965 graduate of Wichita Heights High School. A Vietnam veteran, he had resided in Dodge City for the past seven years.

Other survivors include his brothers, Tom Robison of Topeka, Jon Robison of Olathe; three nieces; one nephew, and two great-nieces.

A memorial has been established with the Kansas Soldiers Home Activities Department, Ft. Dodge, Kan. Baker Funeral Home has charge.

Carrol Poynter

Carrol M. Poynter Sr., 78, of Wichita, father of Darlene Cornfield of Valley Center, died Nov. 11, 2002. He was the founder of Carrol’s Delivery, which was celebrating 40 years of service. Memorial service was Nov. 14 at Graceway Community Church, Wichita.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Poynter, and half-sister, LaDoris McRoberts.

Other survivors include his wife, Mariann; sons, Carrol M. Poynter Jr. of Lido Beach, Fla., A.C. Poynter of Maize; daughters, Elizabeth Walter of Mississippi, Sandy Bell of Phoenix; brother, Vernon Lee Poynter of Fort Worth, Texas; half-brother, Archie Francis of LaCrescenta, Calif.; half-sisters, Janice Muhlenbeck of Wenatchee, Wash., Bonnie Casper of Caldwell, Idaho, Elaine Reid of Saginaw, Mich.; grandchildren, Aubrey Poynter-Winegarner, Crystal Perry, Billy Bowler, Alex Cornfield, Cary Cornield, Maile Cornfield, Shealee Poynter, McKenna Poynter, T.C. Poynter, and great-grandson, Gage Wooton.

A memorial has been established with Seeing Eye, Morristown, N.J. Old Mission Mortuary had charge.

June Spencer

June Elizabeth Saunders Spencer, 82, of Valley Center, retired Abilene Elementary lunchroom aide, died Nov. 17, 2002. Service was Nov. 20 at First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Kechi Township cemetery, Kechi.

She was born June 19, 1920, in Longford, the daughter of George C. Saunders and Daisy L. Krieger. She married Ralph L. Spencer on Aug. 2, 1939, in Kechi. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, brothers John and Cliff Saunders and a sister, Betty Stauffer.

Survivors include her son, Jim Spencer of Valley Center; daughters, Joan McHughes of Valley Center, Patricia Haas of Wichita; sisters, Daisy Bland of Orlando, Fla., Georgia Baum of Daytona Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with the church and with Deaf & Hard of Hearing Service, Wichita. Baker Funeral Home had charge.

Marie McKinnell

Marie H. McKinnell, 99, of Maize, died Nov. 18, 2002. Service is at 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Valley Center.

She was born July 29, 1903, and raised in New Jersey. At 14, she became the first driver of the DuPont company’s new motorcar. She toured the East Coast demonstrating the new automobile. She met her husband, Robert T. Hudson, in Lawrenceville, Va. He operated Hudson Lumber Company and she was president of the Brunswick County homemaking board, superintendent of children’s work in the Women’s Society of Christian Service and led two 4-H clubs. She was named the county’s outstanding woman of the year in 1939 for home demonstration work. After several years as secretary-treasurer of Hudson Lumber, she ran the company after her husband’s death. While in Maize, she met and married Luther A. McKinnell, a retired postman and garage owner who raised and sold cut flowers. She assisted with the business. She was grand matron and a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, and was head cook for Maize schools for more than 20 years. She was an active member of the church. She was preceded in death by her husbands and two children, Ted Hudson and Winona Elna Hudson Drum Chacksfield.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Elvi Hudson of Duluth, Minn.; eight grandchildren, David Drum of Los Angeles, Vickey Best of Longmont, Colo., Jo Aleen Gosnell of Lyons, Colo., Ellery Paul Chacksfield of Jamul, Calif., Jane Marie Wenzel of Omaha, Neb., Thomas Hudson, Mary Beth Hudson, Robert Hudson, all of Duluth; 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas.

Scott Livingston

Scott R. Livingston, 46, of Park City, aviation maintenance technician, died Nov. 6, 2002. Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Friday at Northwest Hanger at Boeing, contact Lora Boys at 523-5511 for authorization badges.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rossetta Livingston.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Dirk Peter and Darline Livingston of Nipomo, Calif.; uncle, John Woods of Wisconsin.

A memorial has been established with B-29 Restoration Project, U.S. Aviation Museum, in care of Lora Boys K70-02, The Boeing Company, Box 7730, Wichita, Kan. 67227-7730. Downing and Lahey Mortuary East has charge.

Alvena Grantz

Alvena Fern Thompson Grantz, 80, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Ronald and Juanita Grantz of Valley Center, died Nov. 4, 2002. She was a retired Southwestern Bell Telephone operator and bookkeeper. Service was Nov. 7 at Trinity Baptist Church, Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther James Grantz, on March 1, 2002.

Other survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jeanne Grantz of Ponca City, Okla.; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Wilma Thompson of Blackwell, Okla.; sister and brother-in-law, Bertie Lou and Robert Colwell of Tonkawa, Okla.; grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Janell Grantz, James and Tammy Grantz, Ronda and Alvin Federico, Jennifer and Byron Campbell, Lori Grantz, Jason Grantz; and great-grandchildren, Alannah Federico, Ashley Federico, Aubrey Grantz, Dakota Cowen, Ethan Grantz.

A memorial has been established with the church. Hillside Funeral Home East had charge.

Denzel Morisset

Denzel Ray Morisset, 48, of Wichita, service station attendant, died Nov. 8, 2002. Private family memorial service.

He was born in Wichita, the son of Glen Marvin Morisset and Alma Mae Phillips. They preceded him in death, as did a sister, Judy Christian.

Survivors include his brothers, Marvin Morisset, Dale Morisset, and sister, Donna Hubbard, all of Wichita.

Baker Funeral Home had charge.

Mary Mouser

Mary Elizabeth Mouser, 86, of Wichita, grandmother of Derek J. and Melissa Rindt of Valley Center, died Nov. 7, 2002. She was a retired teacher and homemaker. Service was Nov. 11 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Mouser; son, David C. Mouser; brother, Carson Elder, and parents, Emil and Lenore Elder.

Other survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth A. and Craig Rindt of Wichita; brothers, James D. Elder of Houston, Calvin Elder of Manitou Springs, Colo.

A memorial has been established with Great Plains Nature Center, 6232 E. 29th North, Wichita 67220. Downing and Lahey Mortuary East had charge.

Tracy Vandeventer

Tracy Suzann Moore Vandeventer, 37, St. Joseph mental health technician, died Jan. 24, 2005. Service is at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at Riverlawn Christian Church, Wichita.

She was born Feb. 26, 1967, in Normal, Ill., and lived most of her life in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Sue Gage, and adopted father, Gary Keith Moore.

Survivors include her husband, Jason; son, Dillan; father, Jim Lindamood of El Dorado; brother, Jamie Lindamood of Kansas City, Mo.; grandmother, Ruth Lindamood of Wichita; father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Linda Vandeventer of Wichita; and uncles and aunts, Jack and Ruene Gage, Tom and Sharon Coggins, all of Arkansas City.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Vandeventer Family Memorial Fund in care of Sunflower Bank, 4101 E. Harry, Wichita 67218. Baker Funeral Home has charge.

Nancy Stein

Nancy Jean Stein, 72, of Wichita, died Jan. 24, 2005. She was a homemaker. Service was Jan. 26 at Kechi cemetery, Kechi.

She was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Ponca City, Okla., the daughter of William Hughes and Effie McClung. She married Bill Stein on Aug. 9, 1951, in Valley Center. He survives. She was an active supporter of 4-H, an avid golfer, a fan of most sports, and enjoyed bowling, fishing and gardening. She was a lifetime member of the Valley Center Eastern Star.

Other survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Mona Stein of Sedgwick, Bill Jr. and LaDonna Stein of Wichita; grandchildren, Billy III, Samantha and Doug Erwin, Zach Stein, Johnathon and Bradley Murray; and great-grandchild, Tristan Erwin.

A memorial has been established with the 4-H Extension Foundation, 7001 W 21st North, Wichita 67205. Cochran Mortuary had charge.
