Mary Eilert
Mary Elizabeth Fisher Eilert, 88, of Newton, stepmother of Bob Eilert of Furley, died Dec. 4, 2002. She was a retired bank teller. Service was Dec. 7 at Federated Church, Whitewater. Graveside service was Dec. 9 at Grove cemetery, Grove, Okla.
Other survivors include her husband, Harry; stepson, Harry Jr. of Sedalia, Mo.; stepdaughters, Mary Berg of Garfield, Ark., Harriet Shaw of Columbia, S.C.; brother, Wayne Fisher of Newton; 10 stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

Roy Young Sr.
Roy Neil Young Sr., 72, of Port O’Conner, Texas, former husband of Agnes Marie Warner Young Dry of rural Valley Center, died Sept. 4, 2002, of lung cancer. He was a retired supervisor for Petco Oil Co. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born June 26, 1930, in Dawson, Texas, the son of Roy N. Young and Vivian Ragland. He was preceded in death by his parents; third wife, Retha, to whom he was married
for 25 years; stepdaughter, Cindy Busby Garza; stepmother, Dorothy Young; half-brother, Ronnie Young; and a stepgrandchild. He was the natural father of Lillie Marlene Young Dry and Roy Neil Young Jr. (now Bobby Dean Dry Jr.), both graduates of Valley Center High School. These children later were adopted by Bob D. Dry Sr. of Valley Center, who died June 17, 1993.
Other survivors include his second and fourth wife, Ruth Ross Young; daughter and son-in-law, Lillie and Mike Steiner of Wichita; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby D. Stella McNabb
Stella Pearl Little McNabb, 83, of Wichita, homemaker, died Dec. 5, 2002. Service was Dec. 9 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, Valley Center. Burial was at Kechi cemetery, Kechi.
She was born March 21, 1919, in Anthony, the daughter of David Little and Mary Brown. She married
George C. McNabb on Feb. 12, 1948, in Springfield, Mo. He preceded her in death, as did her parents and a sister, Billie Little.
Survivors include her son, Dennis McNabb of Wichita; daughters, Debra Wehry of Wichita, Nancy McNabb of Alameda, Calif., Mary Lucille Cornish of Everett, Wash.; sisters, Ruth Eichholzz of Springfield, Marie McNabb of Republic, Mo., Betty Ann Harmon of Buffalo, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Brenda Wodke
Brenda Sue “Dolly” Wodke, 55, of Valley Center, died May 23, 2003. Service was May 27 at First United Methodist Church, Valley Center. Committal service was May 28 at Sunset Hill cemetery, Herington.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Dozier of Herington, and two brothers.

Donald Lacy Sr.
Donald Lee Lacy Sr., 66, Valley Center, died June 4, 2003. Service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church.

Donna C. Owens, 75, of Wichita, mother of Ed Sisk of Valley Center, died May 27, 2003. She was a retired bookkeeper. Graveside service was May 30 at Toronto Township cemetery, Toronto.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul T. Owens.

Margaret Wall
Margaret Jean Wall, 78, of Halstead, mother of Carol Van Bloem of Park City, died May 28, 2003. She was a retired realtor. Memorial service was June 3 at First Presbyterian Church, Halstead.

Marie Gregory
Marie Alice Mapes Gregory, 101, of Andover, formerly of Valley Center, died June 1, 2003. Service was June 4 at Webb Mortuary Chapel, Clearwater, with Pastor Jim Zier of Clearwater First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at Clearwater cemetery.
She was born Sept. 28, 1901, in St. Joseph, Ill., the second of four children born to Simeon Andrew Mapes and Mary Frances Parsons. After receiving her education, she taught for three terms at a country school. She married
Ernest Samuel Gregory on April 25, 1925, in Wichita. They farmed for more than 60 years near Viola. After his death in 1982, she moved to Valley Center, and had been a resident of Andover Health Care Center for the past two years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Goddard, and attended First Church of God in Valley Center. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, flowers, cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Lavina Gregory, Beverly Clevenger and Shirley Gregory (stillborn); and brothers, Roy Mapes and John Mapes.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Marceille and Charles Sult of Valley Center, Ernestine and Bob Turner of Wichita, Norma and Marvin Jones of Mulvane, Sharon Adams of Valley Center; sister, Opal Weippert of Valley Center; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Mark Carroll
Mark Edward Carroll, 47, of Park City, Food Service employee, died May 30, 2003. Service was June 4 at Hillside cemetery, Sedgwick.
He was born Oct. 2, 1955, in Wichita, the sixth child of John and Mary Carroll. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary F. Petersen Carroll and great-nephew, Joseph N. Carroll.
Survivors include his wife, Debra, of the home; father, John R. Carroll of Wichita; brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor and Barbara of Wichita, Bob and Debbie of Grover City, Calif., James and Nancy of Sedgwick, Troy and Debbie of Walton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Steve Brown of Arlington, Texas, Melinda and Mark Miskell of Wichita, Cindy and Jerry Oltmanns of Wichita, Mary and Greg Grimmett of Eureka, Angie and Joe Morris of Eureka; 30 nephews and nieces; and 21 great-nephews and nieces.

Vivian Beardsley
Vivian Hockett Beardsley, 77, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Robert and Shirley Beardsley of Kechi, died May 27, 2003. She was a retired nurse. Service was May 31 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East.

Lloyd Carter
Lloyd James Carter, 81, of Valley Center, retired farmer and rural mail carrier, died May 26, 2003. Service is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at First United Methodist Church, Valley Center, and at 1 p.m. Friday at Elwood Methodist Church, 601 Rush St., Elwood, Neb. Burial will be at Arapahoe cemetery, Arapahoe, Neb.
He was born May 24, 1922, near Platteville, Colo., the son of Frederick A. Carter and Mary Dickey. He married
Verna L. Chadwick on May 9, 1948, at Gosper United Methodist Church in Gosper, Neb. She survives of the home. He farmed in Nebraska before moving to Kansas in October 1956 due to extended droughts in Nebraska. He became a rural letter carrier for Valley Center in 1960, and retired after 23 years of service in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Harold Elden Carter; three sisters, Agnes Huff, Esther Krivucha and Gladys Carter, who died in infancy; and his stepbrother, Forrest Reed.
Other survivors include his sons, Kenneth of Valley Center, James of Waunakee, Wis.; daughters, Becky Dimmitt, Mary Popchoke, both of Olathe; sister, Myrtle Martin-Hibbs of Hermiston, Ore.; stepsister, LaVilla Brand of Elwood; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Laura Sloan
Laura Luella Sloan of Wichita, mother of Sandra Wille of Valley Center, died April 6, 2003. Private family service.

Francis Mork
Francis Earl Mork, 68, of Wichita, father and father-in-law of Jeff and Lynn Mork of Bel Aire, died Feb. 21, 2003. He was a Navy diesel mechanic for 14 1/2 years and a Ryder diesel mechanic for 27 years. Service was Feb. 25 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, Wichita.
He was born June 14, 1934, in Wichita, the son of Matthew Joseph Mork and Virginia Alma Finner. He married
Juanita Patty Love on June 17, 1957, in Wichita. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph, Clarence and Dwayn Mork; grandson, Benjamin Mork; and great-grandson, Gage Mork.

George R. Hook, 67, of Wichita, father of Robert Hook of Valley Center, died Feb. 21, 2003. He was a retired U.S.D. 259 employee. Service was Feb. 25 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Wichita.

Bobby Gene Roberts, 70, of Wichita, father and father-in-law of Vicki and Andy Calvert of Valley Center, died June 4, 2005. He retired after 41 years of employment by Learjet-Bombardier. Service was June 8 at Broadway Mortuary Chapel.
