Lila Zane Heskett
Lila Zane Heskett, 74,, of Hoxie, mother of Dr. David Heskett of Halstead, died Aug. 30, 2005. She was activities director for 32 years with Sheridan County Hospital’s long-term care. Service was Sept. 2 at Hoxie United Methodist Church. Burial was at Hoxie cemetery.
She was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Sheridan County, the daughter of Everett Neal and Ada Charles. She married
Robert Elwyn Heskett on June 11, 1950, in Hoxie. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2005. After retirement, she worked part-time at Venture 2000 Fitness Center and Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas.
Other survivors include her son, Dick Heskett of Wichita; daughter, Linda Davison of Sapulpa, Okla.; sister, Edie Hansen of Wilson, and eight grandchildren.

Marcia Francis McLaughlin Campbell
Marcia Francis McLaughlin Campbell, 86, died July 7, 2005. She was a retired speech pathologist at the University of Arizona. A memorial service was held July 20 at the home of her daughter, Sandy (Paul) Liska of Tucson, Ariz. After cremation, her ashes were placed at St. Phillip’s in the Hills, alongside those of her husband and their son, Robert “Mac” Campbell, who preceded them in death in 1968.
She was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Valley Center. She was a 1940 graduate of the University of Wichita and earned her master’s degree from the University of Arizona three decades later. She married
newspaperman Robert H. Campbell in 1948 in Denver. They moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1949. She was a speech therapist for a decade at the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. After retiring in 1986, she volunteered at the Arizona Historical Society Gift Ship until 1992, a year following her husband’s death.
Other survivors include her granddaughter, Kelly Liska of Tucson.

Martha Jean Hohensee Harwick
Martha Jean Hohensee Harwick, 87, of Valley Center, retired Airport Hilton food purchasing agent, died Sept. 1, 2005. Service was Sept. 6 at First Baptist Church, Valley Center.
She was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Tyrone, Okla., the daughter of Paul Calvin Hohensee and Jessie Pearl VonStiers. They preceded her in death, as did an infant son, Billie Anderson; brothers, Ervin Hohensee and Merle Hohensee, and a sister, Lucille LeBlanc. She was a Valley Center resident since 1970 and was an active member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Burl and Darlene Anderson of Wichita; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred Hayworth, Leonard Hayworth, Jimmie and Gloria Hayworth, Jack and Sylvia Hayworth, all of Washburn, Mo.; sisters and brother-in-law, Rosie Walker of Wichita, Geraldine and Paul Martin of Andover; sister-in-law, Vicki Hohensee of Washburn; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Tina Anderson of Cambridge, Ohio, Tammy and Randy Southards of Green Bay, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kayela Anderson, Joshua and Bradley Southards, and numerous other nephews, nieces and cousins.
Memorials have been established with First Baptist Church children’s ministry, 300 N. Ash, Valley Center, and Hospice Care of Kansas, 3241 E. Victor Place, Wichita. Baker Funeral Home had charge.
Robert K. McCoy
Robert K. McCoy, 54, father of Dennis McCoy and Chelsie McCoy, both of Bel Aire, died Aug. 29, 2005. He was a Boeing safety engineer. Service was Sept. 1 at Derby Church of the Nazarene.
Other survivors include his wife, Pam; daughter, Sheri Idol of Wichita; brother, Robert Pullan of Kimberling City, Mo., and sister, Mary Slauson of Fayetteville, Ark.

Pamela Grewing
Pamela L. Grewing, 58, of Sedgwick, homemaker and Lillian Tear Library volunter in Sedgwick, died April 30, 2005, as the result of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident April 22. Service is at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at First Christian Church, Sedgwick.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle Grewing of Sedgwick; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Kevin Kester of Sedgwick, Dawn and Ron Toedman of El Dorado, Julie and Steve Berner of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons and daughters-in-law, Brett and Tonya Jurging of Leon, Bill and Sheila Grewing of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Dwight and Debrina Grewing of Holcomb, Dannie and Karla Grewing of Wichita; mother, Phyllis Waldrom of Litchfield, Minn.; three sisters, three brothers, all of Minnesota; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Phyllis Cooper
Phyllis June Cooper, 71, of Wichita, mother of Todd Cooper of Valley Center, died April 25, 2005. She was a teacher. Memorial service is at 3:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Valley Center.
She was a graduate of Valley Center High School and taught there exclusively for 27 years.
Other survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cheryl Cooper of Wichita; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and David Fonseca of Wichita; sisters, Perley Terry of Kauffman, Texas, Corrine Leoni of Arvada, Colo; and grandchildren, Kyle Cooper, Michael Fonseca, Arianna Fonseca, both of Wichita.

Mary Ann Mies Landwehr
Mary Ann Mies Landwehr, 63, of Colwich, sister and sister-in-law of Alphonse and Virginia Mies of Valley Center, died April 21, 2005. She was a self-employed daycare provider. Service was April 25 at St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark’s, with Frs. David Lies and Charles H. Schettler officiating.
She was born Nov. 6, 1941, in St. Mark’s, the daughter of Mathias M. Mies and Rose Helena Bergkamp. She married
Virgil Landwehr on July 29, 1967, in St. Mark’s. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2001. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son, Gerard, in 1971; a brother, James Mies; and sisters, Lorraine Mies and Louise Mies May.
Other survivors include her son, Justin Landwehr, daughter, Donna Landwehr, both of Colwich; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Lorene Mies of Shawnee Mission, Alfred Mies of Wichita, Raymond and Kathy Mies of Andale; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Sr. Mary Joseph Mies of Oklahoma City, Sr. Mary Rosina Mies of Enid, Okla., Florence and Morgan Barlow of Bartlesville, Okla., Bernetta and Gene Carroll of Andale, Theresa Burks of Colwich.

Guyna Lee Stearman Russell
Guyna Lee Stearman Russell, 60, of Valley Center, died April 25, 2005. Memorial service is Saturday at Westside Church of God, 1900 McCormick, Wichita.
She was born May 26, 1944, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Glenn Stearman and Coral Strickland. They moved to the Wichita area and she graduated in 1962 from Wichita East High School, and later from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor’s in nursing at Wichita State University, and a master’s degree in 1979. She practiced nursing in Colorado, California and for several years in the Wichita area. She taught nursing at Wichita Area Technical College and ended her career as a home health nurse. She married
Mason Russell in January 1974 in Wichita. He survives. She was a member of Valley Center Assembly of God and a contributor to the National Sarcoidosis Association and its local support group. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Other survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Glenn Allen of Wichita; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Robyn Russell of Park City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzanne and Giovanni Garen-Fazio of Newton, Mass., Glenna and Joel Park of North Potomac, Md.; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Beverly Stearman of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Tony Goff
Tony A. Goff, 46, of Wichita, brother of Terri Morace of Valley Center, died April 16, 2005. He was a Leonards Metals machinist. Service was April 18 at Family Worship Center, Wichita.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Patricia Goff.
Other survivors include his wife, Rose, son, Tony Goff II, stepson, Anthony Kramer, stepdaughter, Amber Kramer, brother, Timmie Goff, all of Wichita; sister, Twila Laudder of Rowlett, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald Ralstin
Ronald I. Ralstin, 55, of Wichita, brother of Rita Shultz, Robin Scriven and Rachel Suhr, all of Valley Center, died April 14, 2005. He was a Farmland Foods maintenance engineer. Service was April 19 at Glenn Park Christian Church, Wichita. Burial was at Kechi cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence H. Ralstin.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Ralstin; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Astrid Ralstin of Mulvane; daughter and son-in-law, Lesli and Jeremy Woods of Wichita; brothers, Raymond Ralstin of Mulvane, Roy Ralstin of Wichita; mother, Mildred Ralstin of Wichita; and granddaughters, Mickala and Kylie Woods.

Richard Potter
Richard L. Potter, 59, lifelong Furley resident, died April 14, 2005. Service was April 18 at Palmyra Baptist Church, Benton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Potter, and a sister, Barbara.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; son, Chad; daughter, Hollie; mother, Imogene Potter; brothers, Charles, Jerry, Robert, Bill, Don; and grandchildren, Tyse, Tyler, Julie, Grace.

Orlando Schultz
Orlando Schultz, 88, of Hillsboro, father of Paul Schultz of Valley Center, died April 12, 2005. Memorial service was April 18 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren cemetery. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren cemetery.
Other survivors include his wife, Marie Schultz of Hillsboro; daughter, Ruth Funk of Hillsboro; and grandchildren.

Merle Dunlap
Merle E. Dunlap, 89, of Wichita, father and father-in-law of Morris and Kathy Dunlap of Valley Center, died April 15, 2005. He was a former communications technician for the Santa Fe Railroad. Service was April 18 at Greenwood cemetery, Newton.
He was a member of the Boeing Airplane Co. team that developed the Flair fleet vehicle location system chosen as one of the “10 Outstanding Engineering Achievements in the United States in 1975.” He worked nearly 32 years in engineering at Boeing. In the late 1940s, he was involved in the crash landing of a B-29 in New Mexico. He and his wife Kathryn helped deliver a Boeing 707 to London, England in 1975--nonstop both ways, and were gone from home only 39 hours. He was granted an amateur radio operator license in 1930 and a first commercial radio operator license in 1937. He also was broadcast radio station operator, disc jockey and chief engineer at KANS. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002.
Other survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Don Blasdel of Boise, Idaho, Kendra and Vince Moase of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; sister, Vera Beth Breithaupt of North Newton; cousin, Beth Martin of Wichita; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Loren Baldwin
Loren Joe Baldwin, 78, of Atascadero, Calif., died. He was a quality control engineer in the aerospace industry with Lockheed, Northrop, Santa Barbara Research and Hughes and Raytheon aircraft companies. Service was April 16 at Chapel of the Roses, Atascadero. Burial was at Atascadero District cemetery.
He was born May 25, 1926, in Valley Center. He graduated from Atascadero High School before joining the Navy, serving in the U.S. Fifth Fleet during World War II as radarman in the Pacific area, on both the fleet command ship USS Appalachian, the USS Massachusetts and Radar Picket destroyer duties from the liberation of the Philippines through VJ Day. He was part of Lockheed’s crew on the first launch at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Harold Thompson of Santa Barbara, Calif.; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Baldwin of Phoenix, Ariz., James and Susan Baldwin of Tahoe City; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sally Baldwin of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Floyd White
Floyd Vernon White, 72, of Wichita, father and father-in-law of Kim and Kevin Opat of Kechi, died April 14, 2005. He was a retired MOP and UP railroad clerk and yard master. Service was April 18 at Resthaven Mortuary. Graveside military honors were provided by Fort Riley.
Other survivors include his wife, Beverly A.; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Karon White of Clearwater, Randy and Debora White of Wake Forest, N.C.; brothers, Jim of El Dorado, Bob of Middletown, Ohio; sisters, Marge Craig of Andover, Alice Regan of Wichita; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Jared, Chelsea, Sarah, William, Patrick; and step-grandchildren, Geneasa, Joshua.

Elsie Coleman
Elsie L. Coleman, 93, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Vernon and Roxanna Bevan of Valley Center, died April 11, 2005. She was a retired Beech Aircraft electric solderer. Service was April 16 at Resthaven Mortuary.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Eldon and Stan Bevan, and a daughter, Maxine Love.
Other survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Paula Bevan of Wichita; daughters and son-in-law, Loleta “Lolly” Owens of Albuquerque, N.M., Joyce and Dick Huebert of Wichita; daughters-in-law, Joy Bevan, Ann Bevan, both of Wichita; and numerous grandchildren.
