Delvin Lewis
Delvin Maurice Lewis, 88, of Valley Center, retired Cessna maintenance employee and farmer, died Jan. 21, 2004. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Baker Funeral Home. Service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Hillside cemetery, Sedgwick.
He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Sunnydale, the son of John Lewis and Mura C. Thompson. They preceded him in death, as did a brother, Duane Lewis. He married
Hazel Louise Darrow on June 29, 1947, in Newton. She survives of the home.

Morris Lewis of Valley Center; daughter, Lucy Lynne Cox of Sacramento, Calif.; grandson, Shawn Lewis of Gorgia; stepgrandson, Lucas Walters of Valley Center; granddaughters, Julie, Brenda and Sherry Cox of California, Kimberly Lewis of Georgia, Kaitlyn Lewis of Missouri.

Dorothy Hooten
Dorothy F. Hooten, 90, died Jan. 14, 2004. Service was Jan. 17, at Valley Center Church of Christ. Graveside service was Jan. 17 at Conway Springs cemetery.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William II and Linda Hooten; sister, Marjorie Monson of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; and granddaughters, Gina Hooten, Kimberly Williams, both of Kansas City, Jessica Hooten of Wichita.
A memorial has been established with the church. Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs, had charge.
Margaret Seidl
Margaret Louise Seidl, 89, mother and mother-in-law of Ed and Julie Seidl of Valley Center, died Jan. 15, 2004. She was a homemaker. Service was Jan. 20 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Joseph cemetery, Conway Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hubert, and a son, John Martin.
Other survivors include her daughters, Marcia Damilini, Jean Lesh, both of Wichita, Anita Bernstein of Richmond, Va.; sister, Rita Jones of Upland, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Raymond Brooks
Raymond L. Brooks Sr., 75, of Westphalia, father of Rae Dean Bonham of Park City, died Jan. 18, 2004. He was a retired Wilson Estates/Red Bush Farm manager.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; two brothers; and two sisters. He was a former Wichita resident.
Other survivors include his wife, Evelyn; sons, Dwaine of Westphalia, Raymond Jr. of Redfield, Ark.; daughters, Marlene Webster of Yukon, Okla., Earlene Malik, Virginia Kistler, April Coon, all of Wichita; sisters, Betty Miller of Oregon, Mary Ann Ward, Emma Beachner, both of Erie, Irma Newby of Joplin, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildrn; and five stepchildren.

William Todd
William H. Todd, 66, of Douglass, father of Allen Todd of Bel Aire, died Jan. 14, 2004. He was a truck driver. Service was Jan. 19 at Douglass cemetery.
Other survivors include his wife, Eunice; sons, Vernon of Mulvane, Harold; daughters, Linda Coss of Augusta, Diana Todd of Douglass; and 11 grandchildren.

Daisy Maris
Daisy Belle Maris, 80, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Roger and Cheryl Maris of Valley Center, died Jan. 21, 2004. She was a U-Stor manager. Service was Jan. 26 at Hillside Funeral Home West chapel, Wichita. Graveside service was Jan. 26 at Protection, Kan., cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Maris, in 1989; her parents, Thomas and Hester Jarnagin Hopkins; four brothers and a sister. She was a member of the Coldwater Eastern Star Chapter #224 and North Star Eastern Star Chapter #483.
Other survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Alana Maris of Wichita, Rex and Gretchen Maris of Pretty Prairie; sisters, Lillie Christopher, Pansy Riner, both of Protection; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

April Allen-Philpott
April Ann Allen-Philpott, 37, of Bentley, daughter-in-law of Kenneth and Nancy Philpott of Valley Center, died Feb. 13, 2004. She was a homemaker. Service was Feb. 16 at First United Methodist Church, Halstead, with Rev. Nancy Lambing officiating. Burial will be at Hillside cemetery, Sedgwick.
She was born April 12, 1966, at El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Eugene Allen and Dolores Schultz. They survive of Burrton. She married
Kenneth A. Philpott on May 26, 2001, at Halstead. He survives. She was an area resident for more than three decades.
Other survivors include her daughter, Ravan Souter of the home; sister, Carol Ann Allen of Burrton.

Thelma Bilby
Thelma Irene Berry Bilby, 78, of Valley Center, homemaker, died Feb. 15, 2004. Private family service.
She was born April 10, 1925, the daughter of John E. Berry and Delila E. Haulk. She married
F.R. Bilby on July 30, 1946, in Valley Center. He survives. She owned and operated Valley Café during the 1940s.
Other survivors include his nephew, George Morgan of Valley Center; and nieces, Mary Landrum of Ft. Myers, Fla., Martha Brown of Derby.

Donald Somers
Donald Lewis Somers, 85, of Wichita, welder and machinist for Continental Trailways Bus Co., died March 5, 2004. Memorial service was March 9 at Baker Funeral Home.
He was born July 9, 1918, in Delphos, the son of Leslie A. Somers and Orpha D. Smith. They preceded him in death. He married
Audrey A. Joseph on Oct. 31, 1939, in Salina. She also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Anthony Somers of Sedgwick, Timothy Somers of Galva; daughter, Beverly Kirkpatrick of Barberton, Ohio; sisters, Viola Briggs of Oklahoma City, Nettie Jamison of Delphos; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

James Mitchell
James G. “Jimmy” Mitchell, 47, of Valley Center, formerly of Hutchinson, died March 5, 2004. He worked for Starkey Inc. for 20 years, retiring in 2003. Service was March 9 at Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson.
He was born March 21, 1956, the son of Dr. Albert P. Mitchell and Katherine A. Gallagher. They preceded him in death, as did a sister, Cheryl Mitchell.
Survivors include his brothers and sister-in-law, Arlen Mitchell of Valley Center, Pat and Jeannie Mitchell of Grand Junction, Colo.; niece, Sheryl Mitchell of Denver; nephew, Jesse Mitchell of Grand Junction.

Marie Hain
M. Marie Hain, 101, of Park City, died March 4, 2004. Service was March 8 at Hillside Funeral Home East chapel, Wichita. Graveside service was March 8 at Caldwell, Kan., cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Brett Hain; sons, Jesse Brett and Paul Edward; daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Howard Smith; grandsons, Larry Schaar, Teddy Shoemaker; and son-in-law, Harry Schaar.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Collie Darlene Schaar of Park City, Minnie Lorene and Jerry Bauler of Payson, Ariz.; and numerous great-, great-great- and great-great-great-grandchildren.

Otto Barbee
Otto Barbee, 92, of Wichita, father of Rick Barbee of Bel Aire, died March 7, 2004. He was a retired Northern Natural Gas petroleum engineer. Service is at 10 a.m. March 15 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.

William Hutchinson
William L. Hutchinson, 76, of Kingman, brother of Isabella Sanders of Valley Center, died March 7, 2004. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. Memorial service was March 10 at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness.
Other survivors include his wife, Joyce; son, Lance; daughter, Debra Ast, all of Kingman; sister, Dorothy Greer of Canby, Ore.; and five grandchildren.

Janette Vulgamore
Janette Catlin Vulgamore, 66, of Norwich, mother of Janell Vulgamore of Valley Center, died March 24, 2004. She was a retired Andale postmaster. Service was March 27 at United Methodist Church, Norwich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Lola Catlin, and a brother, Alvin Catlin. She served 27 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Wichita, Murdock, Minneola and Andale.

Nellie Marie Howarth Kirkbride Lundry, 74, of Wichita, NCR parts handler and U.S.D. 259 childcare provider and bus driver, died March 29, 2004. Service is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Grace Nazarene Church, Wichita. Graveside service is at 2 p.m. at Newkirk cemetery, Newkirk, Okla.
She was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Newkirk, Okla., the daughter of James LeRoy Howarth and Esther McEwen. She married
Clarence E. Lundry on Oct. 17, 1998, in Wichita. He survives.
