Farley Glen "Hutch" Hutchinson, 95, died Jan. 20 in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 2, 1906, in Crestline, the son of Arthur Andrew and Mary Catherine Reeder Hutchinson. He married
Eva Pierson Oct. 25, 1947, in Broken Arrow, Okla. She died Dec. 20, 1988. A resident of Great Bend for 40 years, coming from Lyons, he was a pumper for Texaco for 37 years. Hutchinson was a member of Church of Christ in Broken Arrow. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Harrison of Buckhannon, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Connie Jobe of Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Mildred Snelson of Broken Arrow and Dot Raushwerger of Tulsa, Okla. He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Lila Rensch; one brother, Melvin Hutchinson; and one sister, Marie Sunday. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryant-Christians Chapel in Great Bend with the Rev. Jana Baxter officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Lyons City cemetery. Leonard L. Stettinger 1918-2001
Leonard L. Stettinger, 82, died Jan. 21 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Barton County, the son of Jacob J. and Agnes Strecker Stettinger. He married
Esther Mai April 20, 1941, in Russell County. She died Feb. 6, 2000. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was a retired farmer and former employee of Manweiler Chevrolet and Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, both of Hoisington. Stettinger was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington and former member of Bender Hill Church in rural Russell. Survivors include one son, John Stettinger of Great Bend; two daughters, Carlene Landis of Lititz, Pa., and Linda Dodson of Lawrence; two sisters, Luella Miller of Hoisington and Rosetta Ochs of Hays; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Lori Landis. Prayer service will be at 7 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. HOISINGTON - Margaret Tauscher, 95, died Jan. 23 at Hoisington Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 2, 1905, in Marienthal, the daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Biel Ernst. She married
George Tauscher Oct. 30, 1923, in Schoenchen. He died April 1, 1994. A resident of Hoisington for 67 years, coming from Schoenchen, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Tauscher was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Hoisington. Survivors include four daughters, Edna Mills and Delores Reif, both of Hoisington, Virginia Boomhower of Russell and Diane Winsky of Ottawa; two sisters, Ann Elstun of Hutchinson and Helen Hardten of Claflin; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Levorne Tauscher; two daughters, Alice Hickel and Lanettia McBride; five brothers, Pete Ernst, Tony Ernst, John Ernst, Nick Ernst and Joe Ernst. Clara Emlie Carter, 93, died Jan. 23 at Integrated Health Services in Great Bend. She was born Dec. 21, 1907, in Claflin, the daughter of William August and Olga Augusta Stueder Drews. She married
Byron J. Carter Sept. 19, 1944, in Claflin. He died May 2, 1991. A resident of Great Bend since 1955, coming from Stafford, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Carter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend. Survivors include one son, William Byron Carter of Fall River, Mass.; three daughters, Shirley Ann Robinson and Karen Kay Milberger, both of Wichita, and Ruth Marilyn Jaro of Fort Scott; one sister, Hilda Boeken of Great Bend; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Drews; and three sisters, Martha Schepmann, Lily Lathrop and Esther Schepmann. Delores Ellsworth Dec. 22, 1995, in Great Bend. A resident of Barton County since 1977, coming from Saginaw, he was a retired machinist for Great Bend Industries. Surivivors include his wife of the home; one son, Scott A. Catterfeld of Gardner; three daughters, Shawn Smith of Pawnee Rock, Shannon Rogers of Logansport, Ind., and Wendy Herrman of Great Bend; one stepson, Tyler Swank of Albert; two stepdaughters, Lacy Welch of Albert and Melissa Evans of Hutchinson; one sister, Jean Potter of Westland, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and three step grandchildren. LEAWOOD - Melvin John Petz, 83, died at St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was born May 14, 1917, in Ellinwood, the son of Richard and Mary Weisenberg Petz. He married
Elva Nairn Oct. 12, 1937, in Ellinwood. A resident of Leawood for seven years, coming from Great Bend, he was a bulk oil agent for Sinclair Oil. Petz was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Great Bend. Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Karen McCosh of Hillsdale, Mich., Patricia Guesnier and Beverly Bruntz, both of Overland Park and Lynette Saunders of Austin, Texas; and two brothers, Jerry Petz of Colwich and Allen Petz of La Crosse; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Petz, Leo Petz, Richard Petz and Norman Petz. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by Knights of Columbus Rosary, both at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. HESSTON - Mildred Hazel Boldt, 86, died Jan. 24 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Strawn, the daughter of Clarence and Deliah Herr Dailey. She graduated from Greeley High School. She married
Harold Leroy Boldt June 24, 1934, in Lindsborg. He died Aug. 16, 1998. A resident of Hesston since 1998, coming from rural Chase, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Boldt was a member of First Church of Nazarene in Great Bend, a former member of First Church of Nazarene in Chase and E.H.U. of Lyons. She was a 4-H sewing teacher for Rice County 4-H. Survivors include two sons, Derald Boldt of Chase and Kennard Boldt of McPherson; three daughters, Darleen Jamison of Flagstaff, Ariz., Sharon Malone of Wichita and Annette Elder of McPherson; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, LaVonne Boldt; two brothers, Paul Dailey and Maurice Dailey; and two sisters, Violet Stephenson and Dorothy Austin. HOISINGTON - Herbert "Herb" Boxberger, 80, died Jan. 25 at his residence in Hoisington. He was born Aug. 30, 1920, near Galatia, the son of J. George and Anna Elizabeth Herman Boxberger. He married
Doris DeWald Oct. 24, 1948, in Hoisington. A resident of Hoisington for 52 years, he was a farmer, driller and tool pusher for Dunne Gardner of Wichita. Boxberger was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7428, both of Hoisington. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Doug Boxberger of Hoisington; one daughter, Debbie Reif of Hoisington; one sister, Esther Schneider of Great Bend; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Reuben Boxberger, Fred Boxberger, Harvey Boxberger and Jacob Boxberger; and two sisters, Lydia Tittel and Elsie Nuss. Cleo Allen, 51, died Jan. 19 at her home in Great Bend. She was born April 16, 1949, in Falls City, Neb., the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Cecelia Elizabeth Allen. A resident of Great Bend for eight years, coming from Wichita, she was a secretery for North American Drilling and a eight-year employee with Coastal Mart in Wichita. Survivors include one daughter, Tia Hatten of Dundee; two sisters, Juanita Miles and Edna Colliers, both of Lincoln, Neb.; and one grandchild. Clarence Henry Lamb Nov. 27, 1940, at Macksville. He preceded her in death. A lifetime resident of Macksville, she was a homemaker, cook at Hearthstone Nursing Home of St. John and Parkview Manor Nursing Home of Macksville, and was a hostess for VIP Center in Macksville. Mrs. Lamb was a member of Macksville Christian Church and Macksville VIP Center. Survivors include one son, Gabriel Dean Lamb of Datil, N.M.; three daughters, Nancy England of Winnebago, Minn., Beverly Fairchild of Haysville and LaDayle Clapham of Larned; two brothers, G.R. Roy B. Painter June 19, 1926, in Great Bend. He died June 22, 1978. A longtime resident of the Great Bend and Albert area, she was Barton County clerk from 1953-1980. Mrs. Painter was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Fanshier-Biggs Circle, Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Unit - Emporia Lodge 391 and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul H. Andree; and one sister, Grace A. Andree.
