Jon Randall “Randy” Knobloch
1949 - 2006

Jon Randall “Randy” Knobloch, 57, of
Great Bend, passed from this life into the
presence of the Living Savior on Dec. 31,
2006. He was born the second son of
Tommy and Eleanor Knobloch, on March
28, 1949, in Great Bend.
Randy lived in Great Bend for most of his
life. He graduated from Great Bend High
School in 1967, and from Barton County
Community College in 1971. He also
lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., from
1972 to 1985. He was self-employed and
was exceptionally talented at designing
and building special projects in his
machine shop. He loved golf, bowling
and fishing, but what he loved the most
was caring for his mother and sharing his
faith in our Lord Jesus Christ with others.
His father preceded Randy in death in
1987. He is survived by his mother, of
the home; a brother Mike and his wife
Debbie of Great Bend; a sister Barbara
Erdman of Albert; brother Alan of Los
Angeles, Calif.; and niece Heidi Erdman,
attending school at Kansas State
University in Manhattan.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at First Church of the
Nazarene, 4811 Broadway in Great Bend,
with Pastor Robert Castile and Pastor
Dwight Dozier officiating. Burial will be at
the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with
the family receiving friends from 6 to 8
p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon on
Thursday, all at Bryant Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to First Church
of the Nazarene or American Heart
Association.

Paul Richard Webb
1954 - 2006

HOISINGTON — Paul Richard Webb, 52,
died Dec. 29 in Wichita. He was born July
16, 1954, at Wagoner, Okla., the son of
Harold and Selma (Flippin) Webb. He
worked as a machine operator for
Envision Inc. He was a longtime resident
of Hoisington, moving to Wichita in 2003.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the
Vietnam war. He was a graduate of
Hoisington High School and Barton
County Community College and attended
Kansas State University.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel Paul
Webb and Nathan Richard Webb, both of
Owossa, Mich.; his mother, Selma Webb,
Hoisington; one sister, Martha Jones and
husband Michael, Wichita; and four
brothers, Alan Webb and wife Julie, St.
Louis, Mo., Phillip Webb and wife Cecilia,
Hoisington, Mark Webb and wife Marcia,
Carl Junction, Mo., and John Webb and
wife Courtney, Noble, Okla. He was
preceded in death by his dad, Harold
Webb.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday
at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home,
Hoisington, with the Rev. Bill Cowell
officiating. There will be no visitation as
cremation has taken place. Memorials
are suggested to the American Diabetes
Association or Envision, in care of the
funeral home.

Vernon Frederick Ideker
1919 - 2006

ROZEL — Vernon Frederick Ideker, 87,
died Dec. 31 at St. Joseph Memorial
Hospital in Larned. Born Dec. 6, 1919, in
Rozel, he was the son of Henry W. and
Katherine B. Both Ideker. A lifetime
resident of Rozel, he was a farmer and
stockman. He married Ruby L. Kaiser on
Aug. 7, 1947, at La Crosse.
Mr. Ideker was a member of the Hope
Lutheran Church in Rush Center. He
served on the church board and Farm
Bureau board and was active in the
Walnut Valley Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife, of the home;
two sons, Gary of Topeka and Neal of
Rozel; two daughters, Vicki Self of
Topeka and Kathy Deuth of Lenexa; one
brother, Lester; two sisters, Rosella
Smith of Ellinwood and Mildred Brauer of
La Crosse; six grandchildren and two
great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a daughter, Janice Kay Ideker
and a sister, Evelyn Blattner.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m.
today at the Hope Lutheran Church in
Bank, 116 W. 6th, Larned, KS 67550.

W. R. Dilldine
1931 - 2007

CRAIG, Colo. — W. R. “Bill” Dilldine was
born on March 13, 1931, in Broken
Arrow, Okla., to Obie E. and Faye
(Pendergraph) Dilldine. He was raised
and attended school in Broken Arrow and
Okmulgee, where he graduated from
high school.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean Conflict. Bill married Merna
Schawe on May 25, 1957, in Great Bend,
and to this union six children were born.
They lived for a time in Great Bend
where Bill worked for the newspaper in
the advertising department. They then
moved to Coshocton, Ohio, where he was
an oiler at the Simco mine of Peabody
Coal Co. In May of 1964 the family
moved to Craig, Colo., where Bill went to
work for Seneca Coal Mine as an oiler
and later dragline operator. Bill and
Merna later divorced. He retired from
Seneca in 1996.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting and
woodworking. He liked to work with his
hands and could fix anything. He was a
member of the VFW and the Elks Lodge.
Bill died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at
his home in Craig surrounded by his
family. He was 75.
Bill is survived by his wife, Alma Harris,
Craig, Colo.; a daughter, Mary Beth
Dilldine Anders, Highlands Ranch, Colo.;
five sons, Jim (Vicki) Dilldine, Robert
(Jeanne) Dilldine, Chris (Kim) Dilldine,
Tim Dilldine (Ute Murray) and Matthew
(Kandee) Dilldine, all of Craig, Colo.; 14
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Lucas, of
Tulsa, Okla.; Alma’s children, Kenneth (
Julie) Harris and daughter Kylie of
Hamilton, Colo., and Pam (Kevin) Gann
and son Trevor of Hayden, Colo. He was
preceded in death by his parents, a
sister, Mabel Langley, and a brother,
Kenneth.
Funeral services were held on Thursday,
Jan. 4, at St. Michael Catholic Church
with Father James Fox officiating. Joyce
Miller sang “How Great Thou Art”
accompanied by Elaine DeuPree.
Interment followed in the Craig Cemetery
with Military Honors by VFW Post 4265.
Memorial donations may be made to the
Northwest Colorado VNA and Hospice in
care of Grant Mortuary.

Vickie Sharon Nitsch
1943 - 2007

DODGE CITY — Vickie Sharon Nitsch, 63,
died Feb. 3, 2007, in Great Bend. She
was born Aug. 18, 1943. Formerly of
Odessa, Texas, Vickie worked hard for
education and for the Kansas National
Education Association in Dodge City. She
graduated from Ector High School in
1961 and retired as head librarian from
Permian High School. She worked for the
Texas State Teachers Association until
she moved to Kansas.
Vickie supported many charities,
including the Women’s Crisis Center of
Dodge City and St. Jude’s Hospital. She
was known as the “Box Lady” to a class
of third-grade students because she
brought their school supplies and other
gifts of affection to them in a big box.
She was greatly loved by all who knew
her. She always thought of others before
herself.
Vickie was preceded in death by her
parents, Herbert and Marie Brigman.
Her survivors include her sons, Skyler
Nitsch of Temple, Texas, Spencer Nitsch
and his wife, Laura, granddaughter
Shara and grandson Devin, her brother,
Rickey Brigman and his wife, Irene of
Phoenix, Ariz., and her sister Carol
Edwards of Odessa and husband Red.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb.
7. Officiating was the Rev. David Johnson
of Central Baptist Church. Burial was at
Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa,
Texas.

Mary Eleanor Schachle
1926 - 2007

Mary Eleanor Schachle, 80, of Plano,
Texas, passed away Feb. 9, 2007, at
Baylor Medical Center-Irving (in the
Dallas area), after a four-week struggle
with complications resulting from heart
surgery. She was born Feb. 18, 1926, in
West Plains, Mo., daughter of William
Ellsworth Brockett and Amy Blanche
(Calhoon) Brockett.
After graduating in 1943 from West
Plains High School, she met and married
William Stephen Schachle in Lander,
Wyo., on Jan. 27, 1949. While married,
Mr. Schachle’s career in the oil
exploration field kept them on the move.
They lived in a number of places
including Montana, Nebraska, Illinois and
even Canada, eventually settling in
Central Kansas. During her lifetime
Eleanor had a varied career. In high
school she worked as a soda jerk,
counter clerk and assisted with
bookkeeping. Later as an adult in Great
Bend, she was a buyer for a children’s
clothing store where she enjoyed going
to market in Kansas City to keep up with
the styles and trends. She was always
enthusiastic about shopping, whether for
employment or personally. She also
worked for a number of years for
Western Music and Vending Company in
Great Bend and she eventually retired
from the Barton County Tax Assessor’s
office in 1999.
Eleanor was a longtime resident of
Ellinwood, having only moved to Texas in
2005, to be close to her children. She
was a member of the Ellinwood United
Methodist Church, including the Lydia
Circle, and an active participant in a
sorority in Great Bend. She was also a
perennial patron of the Community
Concert series in Great Bend. She
enjoyed traveling and had the
opportunity to experience many different
areas of the U.S., as well as numerous
European, Mexican and Caribbean
destinations. She had a great love of
reading and cherished her time with
friends and family.
She is survived by two children, Steve
Schachle of Dallas, Texas, and Susan
Reschreiter of Irving, Texas, and one
grandson, Evan Reschreiter, also of
Irving.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, two half brothers, her daughter
Janet, and one sister, Amy Holstein.
A memorial service will be conducted by
the Rev. Vernon Maelzer on Saturday,
Feb. 17, at the Ellinwood United
Methodist Church, at 10:30 a.m. No
interment is planned, as her ashes will
be scattered along with those of her
beloved sister and brother-in-law, Amy
and Jack Holstein, both of whom passed
away at the end of 2005.
Memorial donations may be made to The
Ellinwood United Methodist Church at
300 W. First in Ellinwood, KS 67526.

Linda Lyman
1952 - 2007

LARNED — Linda Lyman, 54, of Larned,
joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday,
Feb. 10, 2007. She was born on Sept. 3,
1952, in Lindsborg. She graduated from
Great Bend High School. Linda enjoyed
painting ceramics and spending time with
grandchildren and loved ones.
Linda is survived by her husband, Neil
Lyman, Larned; son, Bill Crawford, and
his children, Joshua and Steven
Crawford, and Sarah Henkle of Great
Bend; son, Joe Crawford of Stafford; a
daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Jeff
Meyer and their children Trevor and
Kaitlyn Meyer of Larned; parents, Carl
and Mary Henkle of Great Bend; two
sisters, Carlon White, of Red Bluff, Calif.,
and Sandy Berges of Great Bend; and a
brother, Bob Henkle of Great Bend.
the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at
Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity
Lutheran Church or Family Crisis Center
in care of the funeral home.
