Virginia Elmore
Virginia Elmore, 83, of El Dorado, Kan., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2001 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4 at the First Christian Church in El Dorado.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 5 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Joplin, Mo.
Virginia was born August 21, 1918 in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of John and Mary Faith (Goodpaster) Woolsey.
She grew up in Joplin, and graduated from Joplin High School in 1936.
She was united in marriage to Verne Elmore on November 16, 1938 in Joplin.
He preceded her in death on May 5, 1994.
She was the Clerk of the District Court for the State of Kansas from 1964 until her retirement in 1981.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, County Chairman for the Democratic Party, District 5 Representative to the State Democratic Party, Order of the Easter Star, and was appointed a member of the University of Kansas School of Medicine Admissions Committee by the Governor of Kansas.
Surviving family include her two sons, John P. Elmore of Kansas City, Mo. and Stephen L. Elmore of Wichita, Kan.; one granddaughter, Lesley Sue Elmore; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leon and James Woolsey.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church.
Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, who is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born December 13, 1930, to John W. and Agnes Christine (Devlin) Cooper Sr. in Scammon, Kan.
She attended school in Columbus, Kan.
She was a member of the Scammon Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school.
She was a member of the Oswego VFW Ladies Auxiliary and loved to fish and bowl.
She taught elementary school for 5 years and ran Joan's Daycare for 13 years.
