A private funeral mass will be held Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Pennock was born December 5, 1905 at Galena, Kan.
She was a member of the Lowell Gospel Mission until it closed in the 60's then became an active and respected member of the Lowell Friends Church.

Mearl Oliver
GIRARD, Kan. - Mearl Glen Oliver, 85, Girard, died at 10:29 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997, in the emergency room at Hospital District No. 1, Girard after an illness.
Mr. Oliver was born Jan. 7, 1912, at Holly Grove, Ark.
He grew up in Kansas City, Mo.
He received a degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M; University.
He moved to Houston, Texas, in 1942 and to Tulsa, Okla., in 1946.
He was vice president and general manager of Braden Steel Corporation in Tulsa.
He moved in 1957 to rural Lamar, Mo., where he was active in the Farm Bureau, served on the Barton County Rural School Board and was a former Barton County commissioner.
He moved in 1963 to Girard and worked for Allgeier Martin and Associates, Inc., Joplin, Mo., until retiring in 1981.
He was active in Boy Scouts, having been an Eagle Scout and a past scout master in Tulsa and Girard.
He was a member of the Order of the Arrow in scouting.
He also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He married Wilma Weidemier on Jan. 11, 1935, at Kansas City.
She survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Susan A. Robinson, Breezy Hill; three sons, David M. Oliver, Independence, Mo., Timothy A. Oliver, Webb City, Mo., and Patrick S. Oliver, Overland Park; two sisters, Gerri Salvador, Republic, Mo., and Doris Bell, Moreland; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Girard.
Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Girard, in care of the funeral home.
Dorothy Walker
GALENA, Kan. - Dorothy M. Hulvey Walker, 85, formerly of 1809 Joplin St., died at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at a local nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Walker was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Galena and was a lifetime resident.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Amy Chapter No. 165, both of Galena.
She married Robert Hulvey in 1931 at Girard.
He died April 22, 1957.
She married Ben Walker in 1960 at Pittsburg.
He died July 4, 1970.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Wade, Little Rock, Ark., and Colleen Scott, Riverton; a brother, John Petty, San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Gladys Treadway, Parsons; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena.
The Rev. J.W. Stephenson will officiate.
Eastern Star services will be conducted at the cemetery.
The casket will be closed at all times.
Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
