Mildred Warner
CHETOPA, Kan. - Mildred Irene Warner, 90, formerly of Chetopa, died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at a Parsons nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Warner was born May 16, 1906, at Buffalo, Okla.
She spent most of her life in the Chetopa area.
She had worked at the Chetopa Manufacturing Co.
She married Leon Warner on July 9, 1927, at Selma, Okla.
He died March 31, 1979.
Survivors include two sons, Verle Warner, Walton, and Gene Warner, Stillwater, Okla.; two daughters, Darlene Call, McCune, and Mary Phillips, Miami, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Nutt.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church, Chetopa.
The Rev. Ron Frazier will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, rural Chetopa.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bath Funeral Home, Chetopa.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Good Samaritan Center.
Ralph Hudelson
COLUMBUS, Kan. - Ralph M. Hudelson, 73, Columbus route 3, died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Hudelson was born Dec. 10, 1923, at Collinsville, Okla.
He was an iron worker and a farmer.
He worked for the Grandview, Mo., school district for 17 years.
He was a member of Belton Baptist Church, Belton, Mo.
Survivors include a son, Charles Hudelson, Portage, Ind.; a daughter, Wanda Ferrell, Columbus; three stepsons, John Tedford, Las Cruces, N.M., Dallas Tedford, rural Columbus, and Terry Harris, Alamogordo, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A son preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Hope in Mount Meriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.
Burial will be in Mount Meriah Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Murdock Funeral Home, Columbus.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
Omer Linn
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. - Services for Omer V. Linn, 83, Baxter Springs route 2, who died Tuesday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Bill Richey will officiate.
Burial will be in Baxter Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Linn, Matthew Linn, Jonathan Linn, Jacob Linn, Joshua Linn and Justin Rundell.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ruth Lindsey
COLUMBUS, Kan. - Ruth E. Lindsey, 60, 324 N. Penn St., Columbus, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at her home after a long illness.
Ms. Lindsey was born Sept. 25, 1936, at Columbus.
She moved to Pomona, Calif., as a small child.
She attended school at Grossmont, Calif., and was graduated in 1953 from Grossmont High School.
She worked at a submarine base in San Diego, Calif., and was a cosmetologist for many years in California.
She moved back to Columbus in 1991, where she worked for the Columbus school district.
She retired in November 1995.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, El Cajon, Calif.
Survivors include her mother, Ruby Bagula, Columbus.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Murdock Funeral Home, Columbus, with the Rev. Jerry Lloyd officiating.
Burial will be in Glen Abbey Mausoleum, Bonita, Calif.
Omer V. Linn
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. - Omer V. Linn, 83, Baxter Springs route 2, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Mr. Linn was born Sept. 12, 1913, at Mcdowell, Mo.
He had lived in the Baxter Springs area since 1988.
He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Christian Church in North Miami, Okla.
He married Lois A. Webb on July 3, 1947.
She died Feb. 16, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, C.O. Linn, Oak Harbor, Wash., Loren L. Linn, Afton, Okla., and Jerry K. Linn, McPherson, Kan.; a daughter, Wanda L. Rundell, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Fern F. Box, Albuquerque, N.M., and Sarah E. Branson, Lubbock, Texas; a brother, James Linn, Odessa, Texas; and 12 grandsons.
Services are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher.
Zara Watkins
GALENA, Kan. - Zara May Watkins, 82, Galena, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Mrs. Watkins was born June 23, 1914 at Clinton, Iowa.
She had lived in Galena most of her life.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Galena.
She married Roy Watkins on June 26, 1933, at Joplin.
He died Nov. 9, 1983.
Survivors include six sons, Carlos Watkins, Roy Watkins Jr., and Tom Watkins, all of Galena, Milton Watkins, Parsons, Rodney Watkins, Riverton, and Burton Watkins, Joplin; two daughters, Mary Bradshaw and Julia Andrews, both of Baxter Springs; two brothers, G.M. Tieso Jr. and Enrique Tieso, both of Clinton; seven sisters, Thelma Knowles and Juanita Larson, both of Joplin, Rita Tygart, Carl Junction, Mo., Connie Fite, Deer Park, Texas, Anne Goss, Diamond, Mo., Mena Tieso and Jovita Tieso, both of the state of New Mexico; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena.
Pastor Lonnie Carbough will officiate.
Her sons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Herbert Gabriel
AFTON, Okla. - Herbert Ray "H.R." Gabriel, 64, 212 S. Downing, Afton, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at his home after a short illness.
He was born July 13, 1932 in Wathena, Kan.
He had lived in Afton since 1992, where he pastored the First Assembly of God Church.
He also had pastored several other churches in the area.
He married Retha Jean Harris on April 27, 1951 at Benton, Ark.
She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Larry Wayne Gabriel, Claremore, Okla.; two daughters, Patty Gabriel, Coweta, Okla., and Marilyn Sue "Susie" Matthews, Fairland; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God Church in Fairland.
The Rev. Armon Newburn and the Rev. Gerald Baser will officiate.
Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Grove.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adcock Funeral Home, Fairland.
