Bonnie Grant
COLUMBUS, Kan. - Bonnie E. Grant, 91, formerly of 516 S. Pennsylvania Ave., died at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
She had been living in a Columbus nursing home for six years.
Mrs. Grant was born Oct. 12, 1905. She lived in Columbus most of her life.
She had been chief financial officer of Cherokee County Social and Rehabilitation Services in Columbus for several years before she retired.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Columbus.
She married Thomas Grant on Dec. 13, 1941, at Scammon. He died July 4, 1989.
Survivors include two brothers, Francis F. Self, Republic, Mo., and George W. Self, Wichita.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery, Scammon.
The Rev. Chrysostom Ah Maung will officiate.
Friends may call after noon Friday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday.
Max Mansfield
WICHITA, Kan. - Max Mansfield, 50, Wichita, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Joseph, Wichita, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Mansfield was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Pittsburg.
He had lived in Chanute before he moved to Wichita, where he worked as a mechanical engineer for Cessna Aircraft.
Survivors include his mother, Maxine Mansfield, McCune; two sons, Joe Mansfield and Justin Mansfield, both of Pittsburg; a brother, James Mansfield, San Bruno, Calif.; and two sisters, Sally McKinze, Altamont, and Patty Dick, Independence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Broadway Mortuary, Wichita, and at 2 p.m. Saturday at Murdock Funeral Home, McCune.
The Rev. Kelly Zelner will officiate.
Burial will be in McCune Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murdock Funeral Home.
Eve Phillips
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. - Memorial services for Evangeline A. "Eve" Lathrop Phillips, 102, Lawrence, a former longtime Baxter Springs resident, who died Dec. 21, 1996 in Lawrence, will be at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at First Presbyterian Church of Baxter Springs.
The service will be held as a part of the regular morning worship service at the church, where Mrs. Phillips was a member for 54 years and served as church Sunday school secretary for more than 30 years.
The Rev. Lowell Van Tassel will officiate.
The family will receive friends after the service.
Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Baxter Springs.
Florence Ballock
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Florence E. Ballock, 90, 208 E. Adams St., died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at Mount Carmel Medical Center after two years of ill health.
Mrs. Ballock was born Sept. 19, 1906, on Pittsburg route 5.
She had lived in the Arma and Pittsburg areas most of her life.
She also had lived in Chicago, Ill., for five years during the 1930s.
She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.
She married Walter A. Ballock on April 17, 1924, at Carthage, Mo. He died Nov. 24, 1966.
Survivors include a son, Ray Ballock, Orland, Calif.; three daughters, Irene Mosier, Orland, Elaine Ballock, Overland Park, Kan., and Sherry Wilbert, Zionsville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg.
The Rev. Theodore Inman will officiate.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Sharon Castagno
CARONA, Kan. - Sharon V. Castagno, 52, Carona, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
Mrs. Castagno was born May 4, 1944, at Carona.
She was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Southeast High School, Cherokee.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Ace Electric at Columbus for seven years.
She attended the Baptist Church.
She married John Castagno on July 2, 1963, at Columbus. He died Feb. 20, 1982.
Survivors include her husband, Charley Tyree; a son, Domenic Paul Castagno, of the home; a daughter, Charity Hope McGowan, Columbus; and two sisters, Mary Gray, Carona, and Boots Brassert, Tonganoxie.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lone Elm Cemetery, northeast of Columbus.
The Rev. Mike Henderson will officiate.
The funeral procession will leave at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday from Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
Howard Lundquest
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Howard Lundquest, 86, 1166 S. 220th St., died at 6:58 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at Mount Carmel Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Mr. Lundquest was born April 2, 1910, at Fort Scott.
He was raised in Arcadia and was a graduate of Arcadia High School.
He received a bachelor's degree in 1930 and a master's degree in 1939 from Pittsburg (Kan.) State University.
He taught at Kinsley, Pittsburg High School and Oklahoma A&M; College.
He returned to Pittsburg in 1949 and taught in the business department at PSU and at the former College High School.
He retired in 1976.
He was given the designation of professor emeritus of business administration upon his retirement from PSU.
He was former president of Kansas Business Education Association and Pittsburg Teachers Association.
He served on the executive boards of the Mountain-Plains Business Education Association.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Pi Omega Pi, Delta Pi Epsilon, Pittsburg Lions Club and Crestwood Country Club.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
He was co-author of "Navy Typewriting," a textbook that was used at Oklahoma State University for the instruction of Waves during World War II.
He married Mildred Dauphene Worsley in 1929.
She died Dec. 14, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Max Lundquest, Pittsburg, and Don Lundquest, Roswell, Ga.; a daughter, Jean "Vonnie" Tims, Lee's Summit, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg.
Don Cash, elder, will officiate.
A private burial service will be at Worsley Cemetery, near Bronaugh, Mo.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lois Rockefeller
PARSONS, Kan. - Lois F. Rockefeller, 96, Parsons, a former McCune resident, died at 6:22 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at a Parsons nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Rockefeller was born March 30, 1900, in rural Baxter Springs.
She grew up in Columbus and was a graduate of Columbus High School.
She taught school for one year at West Mineral.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the Ordination Plant in Parsons during World War II and the Korean War.
She was a member of McCune Methodist Church and various civic clubs at McCune.
She was active in area Girl Scouts.
She married Frank Rockefeller on Aug. 12, 1923, at Kansas City, Mo.
He died Aug. 25, 1988.
Survivors include a son, Jack Rockefeller, Topeka; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church in McCune.
The Rev. Delbert Chance will officiate.
Burial will be in McCune Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Murdock Funeral Home, McCune.
