William L. "Bill" Strong, 64, of Eureka, died Monday, September 22, 2003, at his home in Eureka.
He was born July 16, 1939, at Strong City, the son of Truman and Opal Wilson Strong.
He is survived by his parents, Truman and Opal Strong of Great Bend; a companion, Lela Hodgens and her children, Omar Hodgens of El Dorado, Jole Palmer of Reading, Kay Tucker of El Dorado; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Dean Strong of Lindsborg; and a sister, Neva Hayes of Castle Rock, Colo.
DORIS WEST
Doris Marie West, 72, of Boonville, Mo., died Monday, September 15, 2003, at her home.
She was born on February 28, 1931, in Harper, the daughter of Fred and Marie (Stanfield) Hamm.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Bob West of Columbia, David West of Concordia, Mo.; one daughter, Marcy Grammer of Macon, Mo.; one sister, Maxine Russell of Eureka; one brother, Fred Hamm of Butler, Mo., and nine grandchildren.
MAX SHINKLE
Max Edward Shinkle, 80, a resident of rural Fall River, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born October 22, 1923, at Fall River, the son of Edward Everett and Artelia Bell (McReynold) Shinkle.
He is survived by stepson, George Speer of Fall River; stepdaughter, Jeanie Scheck of Wichita; brother, Larry Joe Shinkle of Wichita; sister, Bessie Hime of Fall River; thirteen nephews and fifteen nieces.
CECIL HAUN
Cecil Melvin Haun, 93, of rural Coyville, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Beverly Health and Rehab in Fredonia.
He was born on February 26, 1911, in Parkerville, the son of Melvin and Maude (Kendall) Haun.
He is survived by his wife, Iva of the home; one son, Cecil D. Haun of Fall River; three daughters, Marilyn Trimmell of Wichita, Judy Fritz of Midwest City, Okla. and Bettysue Kerlin of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Frances Smith of Parkerville; eleven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 3, at the Timmons Funeral Home Chapel.
IRENE CUTMYER
Irene Cutmyer, 91, of Eureka, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Medicalodge of Eureka.
She was born in Greenwood County, the daughter of William Tyler and Maude (Clopton) Meredith.
She is survived by one son, William Cutmyer of Pittsburg, Calif.
Memorial services were held Friday, May 28, 2004.
DORTHA DODD
Dortha Pauline Dodd was born on January 7, 1915, at Cherryvale, the daughter of Rena Dortha (McMahill) and Fred Alexander Hurd.
She is survived by one daughter, Dortha Ann Roberts of Houston, Texas; two grandsons Ryan Dodd Roberts and Michael Edward Roberts of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Fredda Weddle and two nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 28, 2004.
RAYMOND HAMMOND
Raymond Lloyd Hammond, 74, of Eureka, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Via Christi - St. Francis in Wichita.
He was born on November 18, 1929, in Burlington, the son of Arza and Emma (Williams) Hammond. He was raised near Burlington and attended Coffey County rural schools.
He is survived by four sons, Keith Hammond of Neosho Falls, Curtis Hammond of Fritch, Texas, Lloyd Hammond of Moran; two daughters, Connie Houck of Moran, Pamela Mann of Pryor, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two brothers, Charles Hammond of Emporia and Leo Hammond of Colorado.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 6, 2004, at the Koup Family Funeral Home.
ELMER J. THOLE
Elmer J. Thole, age 84, born April 19, 1920, in McCook, Nebraska and died August 8, 2004, in Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas.
He served our country in World War II, in the European Theatre from April 13, 1944 to January 31, 1946, as a combat engineer.
His survivors include a loving wife of 39 years, Opal A. Thole, Fall River, KS; sister, Violet Pennington, Oklahoma City, OK.; daughter, Barbara Taylor, Bartlesville, OK; son, Jerry Thole, Fall River, KS.; Ron Thole, Derby, KS; Todd Plummer, Rose Hill, KS.; daughter, Janice Smith, Bartlesville, OK.; daughter, Vicki Dixon, Naples, FL.; son, Norman Thole, Fall River, KS.; Sister-in-laws, Thelma Thole, Wichita, KS; Polly Thole, New Burn, NC., Brother, Willis Nigh, Wichita, KS.; brother Sid Showalter, Tucson, AZ.; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
Services are Thursday, August 12, at 11 a.m., at Koup Family Funeral Home.

Guy Myrl Shumard, 85, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
He was born in rural Eureka on February 23, 1919, the son of Harvey and Gertrude (Rader) Shumard.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet, of the home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2004, at the Christian and Congregational Church.
EARL SUTTER
Earl C. Sutter, 87, of Eureka, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Medicalodge of Eureka.
He was born in Kieley, on April 2, 1917, the son of Theodore and Lula (Harris) Sutter.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, of the home, three sons, Jack Sutter of Rosalia, Raymond Sutter of Wichita and William Sutter of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one step-son, Ronald Powell of Eureka; two step-daughters, Patricia Richey and Karen Richey both of Wichita; twelve grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the Bible Baptist Church.

Doris Dee Thornton, 77, of Eureka, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at the Greenwood County Hospital.
She was born September 15, 1926, in Eureka, the daughter of Ernest and Leilia (Jones) Lozier.
She is survived by three sons, David Thornton, Donald Thornton and Kenneth Thornton, all of Eureka; one daughter, Joyce Pearse of Eureka; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert Lozier of Eureka.
Graveside services and intermenty was held Thursday, August 5, in Greenwood Cemetery.

John Forest Winn, 90, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
He was born in northeast Butler County on May 25, 1914, the son of John S. and Irene (Paulson) Winn.
He is survived by one sister, Hazel Winn and one brother, Harold Winn, both of Eureka.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Koup Family Funeral Home.

Kenneth Duane Alford, 70, of Eureka, died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at Greenwood County Hospital.
He was born on December 3, 1933, in Peru, the son of Ralph and Dorothy (Chrisman) Alford.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; three sons, Rocky Alford of Garnett, Joe Alford of Xanten-Marianbaum, Germany and Jack Alford of Eureka; two daughters, Debbie Plew and Rhonda Bartel, both of Mulvane; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Alford of Independence and two sisters, Phyllis Alford and Janet Alford, both of Bartlesville, Okla.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 2, at Koup Family Funeral Home.
WILLIAM BOBBIT
William E. "Eddie" Bobbitt, 89, of Eureka, died Friday, November 26, 2004 in Eureka.
He was born May 13, 1915, the fourth child of Fred and Pauline (Denner) Bobbitt.
He is survived by his wife, sister, Margaret Hale of Eureka and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 30, at Koup Family Funeral Home.
