Harold Junior Ferry, 78, of Howard, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

He was born on November 26, 1928, at Howard, the son of Leslie Clark and Vera Venora (VanBuskirk) Ferry.

He is survived by his sister, Anita Kling of Wichita; two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 29, 2007, at the Zimmerman Funeral Home with Reverend Gene DeWitt of the First Baptist Church of Howard officiating. Military honors and intermenty were conducted by Carter-Rader Post No. 149 at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard.

A memorial has been established with Howard Twilight Manor. Contributions may be sent in care of Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1233, Howard, KS 67349, who was in charge of arrangements.

BETTE GOLDEN
Mary Elizabeth (Bette) Golden, 85, of Eureka, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at Medicalodge in Eureka.

She was born on September 18, 1921, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of Charles S. and Dora May (Wilson) Hagerman.

She is survived by two grandnephews; two grandnieces and several cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Dr. Gilbert Daniel and Reverend Rhonda Almond officaiting.

A memorial has been established in her name to the Christian and Congregational Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

GEORGE DOERR

George Henry Doerr, 89, of Eureka, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Medicalodges Eureka.

He was born on March 25, 1917, in Rush County, the son of Henry Winter and Polly Ann (Cate) Doerr.

He is survived by one son, Terry Jonn Doerr of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Lucretia Ann Weatherbee and Linda Cook, both of Eureka; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Adrian T. Doerr of Alta Vista and one sister, Zella Mae Grumbein of Dighton.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 21, at McCracken Cemetery in McCracken, with Darlene Nonhof of the Ness City United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements were made with Koup Family Funeral Home.

JAMES ASHLOCK
James Lowell Ashlock was born on January 9, 1924, near Quincy. His parents were Fred and Sadie (Sharp) Ashlock.

He was united in marriage to JoAnn (Watts) Ashlock on August 23, 1959. He lived most of his life in the Quincy, Neal, and Virgil area.

He is mourned by his wife of the home; two children, a son, Zack Lane Ashlock of Virgil; and a daughter, Kimberley Hall, and son-in-law, Karl Hall of Virgil; three grandsons: Zevi Lane Ashlock, Shane Owen Ashlock, and Kolton Lynn Hall all of Virgil; one great-granddaughter, Candice Rane Ashlock of Hamilton; and one sister, Dorothy Denchfield of Neal.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Virgil Cemetery with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.

WILMA EBERHARDT
Wilma Lucile Eberhardt, 92, of Piedmont, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born on August 21, 1914, at Wichita, the daughter of William Martin and Frances Viola (Slyter) Benedict.

She is survived by her daughters, Viola Jordan of Piedmont and Geri Malle of Topeka; three grandchildren; three great-grandchild-ren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Piedmont United Methodist Church with Pastor Diann Demas officiating. Graveside services followed at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, in Wichita.

Memorials have been established with the Piedmont United Methodist Church and Midland Hospice House of Topeka. Contributions may be sent in care of Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1233, Howard, KS 67349, who was in charge of arrangements.

HENRIETTA FECHTER
Henrietta Fechter, 73, of Eureka, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

She was born on January 28, 1934, in Eureka, the daughter of Dick and Dicie (Martin) Chambers.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron, of the home; one son, Richard Fechter of Howard; one daughter, Jayne Schaefer of Richmond; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 20, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Pastor Mark Demas of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton.

Memorials have been established with the Greenwood County Hospital or the Greenwood County 4-H Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

MAXINE ROBINSON
Maxine Robinson, 94, of Odessa, Texas, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital.

She was born on April 25, 1912, in Severy, to Robert "Bob" and Clara (Musick) Robinson.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 15 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating. Graveside services were held on Saturday, March 17 at Twin Grove Cemetery in Severy.

RICHARD SHERE

Richard Eugene Shere, 36, of Eureka, died March 13, 2007, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

He was born on August 8, 1970, in Eureka, the son of Robert E. and Gene Lou (Burnes) Shere.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Kay Shere (formerly of Eureka) of Miami, Okla.; four sons, Cody Allen Shere, Richard Eugene Shere Jr., Zachary Michael Shere and Rowdy Eugene Shere; three daughters, Katie Lynn Shere, Kayleigh Marie Shere and Rianna Shere; his mother, Gene Lou Campbell of Miami, Okla.; four sisters, Michelle Clark and Angela Clark, both of Eureka, Melissa Patton of Seneca, Mo. and Amanda Wilson of Chelsea, Okla.; and a step-sister, Heather Stoner of Miami, Okla.

Local arrangements were made with Koup Family Funeral Home of Eureka. Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, at Adcock Funeral Home in Afton, Okla. Interment followed in Glenn Abbey Cemetery in Miami, Okla.

MYRTLE STEVENSON
Myrtle Lucille Stevenson, 84, of Eureka, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

She was born November 25, 1922, in Onalska, Wash., the daughter of Daniel and Mabel (Hovde) Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Hamilton, of the home and two brothers, Don Smith of Zapata, Texas and David Smith of Washington.

Cremation has been effected. No services will be held. Koup Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

PAULINE BIRKHOLZ
Pauline Birkholz, 89, of Osage City, formerly of Eureka, died, Friday, June 1, 2007, at Osage Nursing Home, Osage City.

She was born February 16, 1918, in Erie, the daughter of Emil and Ila J. (Sisson) Passig.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Holland of Vassar; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Noland; one grandson, Larry Birkholz, Jr. of Eureka and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 4 at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in her name to the Alzheimer's Association and the Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P. O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

MILTON "MILT" TAYLOR
Milton "Milt" Taylor, 83, of Eureka, died Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Greenwood County Hospital.

He was born February 25, 1924, the son of Milton Taylor Sr. and Mabel (Kimberling) Taylor at Foss, Okla.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home; one daughter, Kathy Jackson of Eureka; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one half-brother, Bill Taylor of Midwest City, Okla.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 6 at the Assembly of God Church, in Eureka, with Pastor Mark Stone officiating. Interment followed in the Orion Cemetery near Chester, Okla.

A memorial has been established in his name to the Milton Taylor Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

FERN BLAKESLEE
Fern Blakeslee, 94, of Eureka, the daughter of Alvin and Julia Sutton, was born November 7, 1912, in Greenwood County. She lived in Climax until she graduated from high school.

Graveside services and intermenty were held Friday, June 15 at the Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend Diana Hill of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

Memorials have been established in her name to Mediclaodges Eureka Activity Fund and the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

MARILYN BRADBURY
Marilyn Rose Bradbury, 66, of Dearing, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at her home.

She was born October 14, 1940, in Wichita, the daughter of John R. and Marian (Kemerling) Oakley.

She is survived by her husband, James, of the home; three daughters, Jackie Lembke of Wichita, Holly Bozone and Sherry Griffitts, both of Ozark, Mo.; two sons, Charles H. Peaster Jr., of Wichita and Guy Bradbury of Lawton, Okla.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don Oakley of Albany, Mo.

Memorial services were held Friday, June 15 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Jayme Koup officiating. Cremation has been effected.

A memorial has been established in her name to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be sent to Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of arrangements.

MICHAEL COLONNESE
Michael "Mikie" Bonaventure Colonnese, 25, of Eureka, died Monday, June 11, 2007, near Hamilton.

He was born April 14, 1982, the son of Adrian Phillip and Hope Marie (Davenport) Colonnese.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley, of the home; a daughter, Serenity Reahann, of the home; his mother and step-father, Hope and Ronnie L. Barrows, of Eureka; his father and step-mother, Adrian and Jesse Colonnese of Dalhart, Texas; one brother, Adrian Joseph "Joe" Colonnese of Sedalia, Mo., four sisters, Tina Harvey, Shannon Colonnese and Heather Colonnese, all of New York State and Clara Colonnese of Dalhart, Texas; six step-brothers, Nathan, Richard, Peter, Tie, Jesse and Loren; three step-sisters, Loretta, Mable and JJ; and his grandmother, Helen Colonnese of Cato, New York.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Mikie Colonnese Memorial Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

ROY FECTHER
Roy C. Fechter, 83, of Hamilton died Sunday, June 18, 2007, at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

He was born on January 31, 1924, in Hilltop, the son of Henry and Anna (Dreyer).

He is survived by his wife, Melba, of the home; a son, Danny of El Dorado; a daughter, Cindy McCartney, El Dorado; two granddaughters; one step-granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandsons; two brothers, Aaron Fechter of Hamilton and George Fechter of Emporia; and a sister, Goldie Beck of Quincy, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 21, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Demas officiating. Interment will follow in Janesville Cemetery, west of Hamilton.

Memorials have been established with the Greenwood County Hospital, Greenwood County Hospice and Greenwood County Home Health. Memorials may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements.

WANDA GILPIN
Wanda Nadine (Stewart) Gilpin, 81, of Parsons, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.

She was born November 3, 1925, in Picher, Okla., the daughter of Alvin and Bertha (Dean) Stewart.

She is survived by two sons, John Gilpin of Girard and Mark Gilpin of Parsons; five daughters, Wanda "Wendy" Nutt and Connie Rhodes, both of Parsons, Linda Lane and Judy Miller, both of Joplin, Mo. and Karen Simon of Eureka; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 18, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial folowed in Hope Cemetery in St. Paul.

A memorial has been established to the Mike Nutt Scholarship Endowment Fund. Contributions may be sent to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357, who was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM SMITH JR.
William Smith Jr., 83, passed away Friday, August 10, 2007, in Arlington, Texas.

Inurnment was held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

A memorial in his name has been established with Seasons Hospice, 5237 N. Riverside Dr., Ste. 220, Fort Worth, Texas 76137.

Survivors: wife, Betty Willis Smith of Arlington; brother, Leonard Smith and wife, Edith, of North Richland Hills; children, Larry Smith and wife, Rita, of Arlington, Judy Westerman and husband, Roger, of Waco and Kathy Senkel of Georgetown; grandchildren, Krystal and husband, Howard Huhn, of Katy, Ryan and wife, Dayna Smith, of Irving, Jennifer Westerman of Waco and Missy, Bobby and William Senkel of Georgetown; and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Wesley Huhn of Katy.

EDWIN LYON

Edwin G. Lyon, 89, of Neodesha, died Monday, November 19 2007, at the Wilson Country Hospital in Neodesha.

He was born July 13, 1918, in Eureka, the son of Luther Lyon and Mary Martha (Stuber) Lyon.

He is survived by his wife, Lavera, of the home; three children, Lucinda Kay "Cindy" Hubbard of Fort Collins, Colo., Brian Lyon of Albuquerque, N.M., and Julie Caspers of Topeka; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Martha Jo Brown of Wichita.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 23 at the United Methodist Church in Neodesha, with Pastor's Kris Brinlee of the United Methodist Church and Dave Cheshier of Christ's Church officiating. Burial followed at the Neodesha City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the NHS Alumni Association, Scholarship Fund or the United Methodist Church, Neodesha. Memorials may be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, 704 Indiana, Neodesha, KS 66757, who was in charge of arrangements.

GWINN THOMAS
Gwinn Thomas, 78, of Eureka, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born July 30, 1929, in Leon, the son of Henry and Irene (Blazier) Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; a son, Michael Thomas of Wichita; a daughter, Marian Kay Drake of Eureka; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 23, 2007, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
