Elijah Duron Wheeler, 17 days, Topeka, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000.
Elijah was born Dec. 13, 2000, in Topeka, the son of Dorian Wheeler and LaTosha Keeling.
Survivors include his parents, Dorian Wheeler and LaTosha Keeling, both of Topeka; a brother, Gabriel Wheeler, Topeka; grandparents Patricia Keeling and Bealta Wheeler, both of Topeka; and great-grandparent Alberta Keeling, Topeka.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bowser-Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery.
Charles Munger
OVERBROOK -- Charles L. Munger, 80, Overbrook, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at an Overbrook nursing home.
Mr. Munger had been employed as a bookkeeper for Adams Toyota. He was retired. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Earl L. Munger Sr. and Hazel Anna Markley.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald M. Munger, Overbrook, and Earl Munger, Gladstone, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday at the chapel.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
Veda Wagenblast
HOLTON -- Veda Charlotte Wagenblast, 85, Holton, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at a Holton nursing home.
She was born June 9, 1916, in Muscotah, the daughter of John and Bertha Euler Schober. She graduated from Whiting High School and lived most her life in Whiting. She moved to Holton in 1990.
Mrs. Wagenblast was a 4-H leader for the Whiting Beavers for many years and a member of the Community Booster Club south of Whiting. She also was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, United Methodist Women and the Crusader Sunday school class. She was past superintendent of the Sunday school junior department.
She married Clarence F. Wagenblast on June 22, 1941, in Whiting. He died Feb. 27, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Karns, Holton, and Linda Davids, Pella, Iowa; a brother, John Schober, St. Joseph, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery north of Whiting. Mrs. Wagenblast will lie in state after 11 a.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Evangel United Methodist Church or to Friends of Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
James Bunch
PUEBLO, Colo. -- James George Bunch, 80, Pueblo, Colo., died Dec. 18, 2000, in Pueblo.
Mr. Bunch worked for the Santa Fe Railway, and he retired from Amtrak.
He was born July 15, 1920. He was raised in Topeka, and he attended schools in Topeka and Kansas City, Kan.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Edward E. Bunch, Salinas, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Jacobs, Oakland, Calif., and Flora Ann, Stockton, Calif.; four brothers, Eugene Bunch, Topeka, Mahlon D. Bunch, Lafayette, Colo., William J. Bunch, San Mateo, Calif., and James McNeal, Pueblo; and a sister, Esther Jenkins, Los Angeles.
Mr. Bunch was cremated. Memorial services will be at a later date.
Vern Chestnut
WICHITA -- Vern Pauline Chestnut, 81, Wichita, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Wichita.
Mrs. Chestnut retired from the Bible Supply and Sales in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Burlington.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Joyce Huff, in California; two brothers, Marshall Craft, Wichita, and Everett Craft, Osage City; a sister, Velma Fleming, Topeka; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Osage City Baptist Temple in Osage City. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Osage City.
Broadway Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
Armeda Brunkow
PERRY -- Armeda B. Brunkow, 91, Perry, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born March 3, 1909, in Frankfort, the daughter of James and Nettie Richardson Ratliff. She attended Frankfort Public Schools and moved to Perry from Duluth 13 years ago.
Mrs. Brunkow was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Duluth.
She married George Robert Brunkow on March 18, 1930, at Marysville. He died Sept. 20, 1979.
Survivors include a son, Charles Brunkow, Perry; a stepson, Vernon Brunkow, Eskridge; three sisters, Virginia McAlexander, Mount Vernon, Ill., Dolores Saunders, Bremerton, Wash., and Norma Neal, Junction City; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Duluth. Mrs. Brunkow will lie in state from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.

Donald Cox
OSAWATOMIE -- Donald Gene "Toby" Cox, 49, formerly of Sherman Oaks, Calif., died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at his father's home in Lawrence. He had cancer.
He was born Jan. 4, 1951, in Paola, the son of Vearl LaVern and Dorothy Helen Rodgers Cox. He was raised in DeSoto and Topeka and graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka. He studied drama at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and had acted in dinner theaters in Topeka and Kansas City. He performed at the Waldo Astoria and Tiffany's Attic in Kansas City and toured throughout the world with performing groups for several years. He had lived in California for 25 years before he moved to Lawrence several months ago.
Survivors include his father, Vearl Cox, Lawrence; and his brother, Larry Cox, Olathe.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. Burial will be at Osawatomie Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 12:30 p.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Lowell Gish
BALDWIN CITY -- Lowell Arthur Gish, 73, Baldwin City, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at a Lawrence hospital.
Mr. Gish was chairman of the education department at Baker University from 1963 until he retired in 1995. He later taught and served in various capacities at Haskell Indian Nations University. He began his career as a teacher and coach at Wilmore in 1949. He served as the elementary school principal in Kinsley for three years and then as superintendent of the Wilmore Schools until he moved to Ottawa in 1956. He was principal at Ottawa Junior High School for several years before he joined the staff at Baker University. He also served in the Merchant Marine in 1945 and 1946.
He was born June 30, 1927, in Greeley, Colo., the son of Lee Nash and Rose Bedford Gish. He was raised in Kingman and graduated from Kingman High School. He earned a bachelor's degree at Southwestern College in Winfield in 1949 and later earned a master's degree and his doctorate at The University of Kansas.
Mr. Gish was a member of First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, Phi Delta Kappa and the Douglas County Democratic Party.
He married Enola McClaren on Aug. 14, 1948, at Lewis. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, David Gish, Topeka, and Stephen Gish, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Juanita Reiter, Hillsboro, Ore.; and Diana Gish Truckfield, Barrow, Alaska; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church. Inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery near Baldwin City will be private. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Osborne Chapel on the Baker University campus.

Jane Arndt
MADISON -- Jane Arndt, 53, Madison, was killed in an automobile accident Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, on K-99 highway north of Madison.
Mrs. Arndt was a licensed practical nurse.
She was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Emporia, the daughter of Dale C. and Maxine Wolfe Martin. She was a lifelong resident of Madison.
Mrs. Arndt attended First Christian Church in Madison.
She married Tony Watts in Madison. They were divorced. She later married Fred Arndt. They also were divorced.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Watts, Hartford, and Mark Watts, Belvidere, Neb.; her mother, Maxine Martin, Madison; a brother, Dail Dean Martin, Madison; a sister, Carolyn McHaley, Madison; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery northeast of Madison. The casket will remain closed.

Marjorie Stenger
WICHITA -- Marjorie B. Stenger, 74, Wichita, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in Wichita.
Mrs. Stenger was a retired businesswoman.
She was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Linn.
Survivors include a son, Paul S. Stenger, Wichita; a sister, Helen Setnor, Topeka; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. Burial will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Lottie Harvey
RUSHVILLE, Mo. -- Lottie M. Harvey, 96, Rushville, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in Harlingen, Texas.
Mrs. Harvey and her husband owned and operated a Red and White Grocery and Merchantile Co. in Rushville, Mo., and several farms in the Rushville, Mo., area.
She was born Nov. 9, 1904, in Rushville, Mo., the daughter of Frank T. and Stella Seever McQueen. She graduated from high school in Atchison, Kan., and attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, Mo. She taught school at Fairview Country School near Rushville, Mo., and she had done substitute teaching in Rossville as well as in Atchison, Kan. She and her husband maintained homes in Harlingen, Texas, and Rushville since 1965.
Mrs. Harvey was a member of Rushville Christian Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She married Chester Harvey on March 14, 1929, in Savannah, Mo. He died in 1981.
Survivors include a sister, LaVeta Daniel, Prairie Village, Kan.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rushville Christian Church. Burial will be at Sugar Creek Cemetery near Rushville. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Edward Domme
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Edward C. Domme, 76, Albuquerque, died Dec. 26, 2000, in Albuquerque.
Mr. Domme served in the Navy as an aviator during World War II and then made a career in the Navy until he retired in 1969 at the rank of lieutenant commander. He later worked for 36 years with Sandia National Laboratories before he retired in 1989 as department manager of the Management Information Systems Department.
He was born May 5, 1924, in Topeka, the son of Aloysius John and Elizabeth Catherine Stadler Domme. He lived in Albuquerque from 1929 to 1939 and later from 1948 until his death. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1952.
Mr. Domme was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Albuquerque, the Sierra Club and the home and school associations for both St. Pius High School and Assumption Parish. He also had been a member of the Elks Club, Jaycees and the Community Council of Albuquerque.
He married Kathryn M. "Peachie" Kennedy on July 20, 1946, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include five sons, V. Craig Domme, Farmington, N.M., the Rev. Edward C. Domme Jr., Mountainair, N.M., Daniel L. Domme and Thomas M. Domme, both of Albuquerque, and John C. Domme, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Clarence Domme, Albuquerque; four sisters, Sister Francis Cecilia Domme, Leavenworth, Sophie Chiordi, Albuquerque, Margaret Thies, St. Louis, and Mary Ann Padgett, Topeka; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Resurrection was celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Albuquerque. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
French Mortuary Wyoming Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mary McFarland
ATCHISON -- Mary Ellen McFarland, 66, Atchison, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at an Atchison hospital.
Mrs. McFarland taught school at Maur Hill Prep School in Atchison for 17 years, and she later taught part-time at both Maur Hill and Mount St. Scholastica Academy.
She was born July 17, 1935, in Atchison, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Watowa Murphy. She graduated from Mount St. Scholastica Academy.
Mrs. McFarland was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, and she was a gardener, craftsman and woodworker.
She married Richard McFarland on Nov. 5, 1955, in Atchison. He died Jan. 1, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Bruce McFarland, Plattsburg, Mo.; four daughters, Lois McFarland, Karen Shufflebarger and Paula Higley, all of Topeka, and Colette Haugness, Atchison; a brother, Leroy Murphy, Chicago; two sisters, Tresa Buessing, Atchison, and Betty Bunck, Everest; and 11 grandchildren.
A joint Mass of Christian Burial for Richard and Mary McFarland will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Atchison. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison where visitation will be until 8:30 p.m.
