Dora Kaiser
OTIS -- Dora Helen Kaiser, 86, of Otis, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2002, at a Wichita nursing home.
She was born June 24, 1915, in Rush County, the daughter of John K. and Mary K. Brack Brack. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County. She moved to Wichita in 1995.
Mrs. Kaiser was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Otis and the Christ Lutheran Church in Wichita. She also had been involved in 4-H when her children were young.
She married William Kaiser on Aug. 17, 1933. He died in 1985. Mrs. Kaiser also was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Donald Kaiser, Overland Park; three daughters, Margaret Dietz, Wichita, Bernice McFarland, Topeka, and Vera Burns, Peck, Mich.; two sisters, Verna Schneider, Osage Beach, Mo., and Martha Margheim, Hoisington; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse and after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Lynette Kueck
SMITH CENTER -- Lynette Kay Kueck, 52, Smith Center, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at her home.
Miss Kueck taught classes in the Smith Center Grade school for several years and was on the school faculty at the time of her death.
She was born Feb. 17, 1949, in Sterling, the daughter of Lloyd Donald and Beulah Earlene Schmucker Kueck.
Miss Kueck was a member of SONshine Christian Church in Smith Center.
Survivors include four sisters, Ruth Smith, Hutchinson, Norma Slagle, Wamego, Debbie Bader, Canton, Ohio, and Julie Edmisson, Johnson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Smith Center. A later service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Abbyville Community Building in Abbyville. Burial will be at the Plevna Cemetery in Plevna. Miss Kueck will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Simmons Mortuary in Smith Center and from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Dorothy Park
MANKATO -- Dorothy Louise Park, 70, Mankato, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Park owned and operated the Flower Shop in Mankato for two years.
She was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Wichita, the daughter of Harold and Marietta Thomas Kirkbride.
She married Dale K. Park in 1949 at WaKeeney. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Laura McClure, Osborne, and Diane Burbridge, Lincoln; a son, James Park, Mankato; two brothers, Eddie Kirkbride, Tulsa, Okla., and John Walz, Ellis; a sister, Mary Jolley, Topeka; her mother, Marietta Walz, Stockton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Park was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jerri Sue Park.
Private services will be at scheduled at a later date.

Hazel Graffa Scott
MANKATO -- Hazel Graffa Scott, 79, Mankato, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at a Wichita hospital.
Mrs. Scott had been a bookkeeper and teller at First National Bank in Formoso and at the Fidelity Bank in Concordia. She also was the assistant cashier and treasurer for the Board of Education in Concordia.
She was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Corning, the daughter of Clarence E. and Ida M. Hoppe Graffa. She attended school in Seneca and Clarks Business School in Topeka.
She married Albert J. Veitz on March 11, 1941. He died Dec. 31, 1948. She married John E. Scott Jr. on Dec. 28, 1957. He died Dec. 1, 1998. A daughter, Marie Lynn Veitz, died March 29, 1962.
Survivors include a daughter, Lori Doupnik, Agenda; a son, James Scott, Mankato; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mankato. Mrs. Scott will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Melby Mortuary in Mankato.
Memorial contributions may be made either to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association and sent in care of the mortuary.
Willard Balderson
WAMEGO -- Willard E. Balderson, 91, Wamego, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at his home.
A services of remembrance for Mr. Balderson will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbian Theatre in Wamego. A gathering for relatives and friends will be at the theatre following the service.
A private Memorial Service will be at the Wamego City Cemetery prior to Tuesday's Service of Remembrance.
Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego is in charge of arrangements.
Clifford Carey
OTTAWA -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa for Clifford W. Carey, 90, Ottawa. He died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at an Ottawa hospital.
Mr. Carey was a machinist at the Hercules Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto for 20 years before he retired in 1975. He earlier had worked for Baldwin Ward, Warner's Steel and Ottawa Steel, all in Ottawa. He worked for the Beach and Boeing Aircraft companies in Wichita during World War II.
He was born July 29, 1911, in Burlingame, the son of Albert Carey and Constance Josephine Burton Carey. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident.
Mr. Carey was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in Kansas City, Mo.
He married Lois Brubaker on Dec. 2, 1936, in Garnett. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Marlene Ferguson, Ottawa; two sons, Lawrence Carey, Moberly, Mo., and Richard Carey, Osage City; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona. Mr. Carey will lie in state after today and Monday at the mortuary where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Clyde Chapman
LAWRENCE -- Clyde McDonald Chapman, 53, Lawrence, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at a Lawrence nursing home. He had cancer.
Mr. Chapman was director of the Consumer Affairs Association in Lawrence from 1978 to 1987. He was a member of the board of the Consumer Federation of America from 1979 to 1988 and was proprietor of The Chapman, a downtown Lawrence shop of used and curious goods.
He was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Kinston, N.C., the son of Samuel Chapman and Beatrice Goodin Chapman. He graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1970 and earned a master's degree in developmental and child psychology from The University of Kansas in 1973.
Mr. Chapman was cremated. Memorial services at his home will be private.

Norma Gentz
HERINGTON -- Norma Gentz, 90, Herington, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at a Salina hospital.
She was born June 28, 1911, west of Herington, the daughter of Fred and Anna Albrecht Ziebell.
Mrs. Gentz was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ramona until it closed, and she became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Herington.
She married John Gentz on May 18, 1928, in Council Grove. He died March 4, 1990. A daughter, Loretta Backhus, died March 20, 1979. A grandson, Gail Backhus, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Monnich, Herington; a son, Kevin Gentz, Hope; a sister, Dora Ziebell, Waco, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Herington. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Ramona. Mrs. Gentz will lie in state at Donahue Funeral Chapel in Herington from 2 to 7 p.m. today and at the church from 10 a.m. to service time Monday.

Johanna Gering
MANHATTAN -- Johanna N. Gering, 69, Manhattan, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at a Manhattan hospital.
She was born Feb. 2, 1932, at Flush, the daughter of John E. and Martha A. Martens Casper. She grew up in Wamego and attended Wamego schools.
Mrs. Gering was a member of the Pearce-Keller American Legion Post No. 17 Auxiliary in Manhattan.
She married Eugene D. Gering on June 25, 1950, at Wamego. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Dennis R. Gering, Overland Park, Alan L. Gering, Derby, and Andy G. Gering, Manhattan; a daughter, Debra J. Chatelain, Weatherford, Okla.; three brothers, Ralph A. Casper and Jerry R. Casper, both of Manhattan, and John M. Casper, Wamego; three sisters, Gertrude "Trudy" A. Schweir, Belvue, Edith M. Rawson, Wamego, and Annette Peterson, Morrowville; and five grandsons.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in Manhattan. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Beatrice Hamilton
MANHATTAN -- Beatrice "Bea" L. Hamilton, 87, Manhattan, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at a Manhattan hospital.
Mrs. Hamilton and her husband owned and operated a propane gas distributorship in Silver Lake as well as a dairy farm and the Chapman Tree Farm.
She was born May 26, 1914, in Overbrook, the daughter of Arthur Henry Platt and Jeneva B. Hart Platt. She was raised in Manhattan and graduated from Manhattan High School. She and her husband lived for many years in California before moving to the Tabor Valley area in 1951. She lived in Silver Lake from 1957 until moving to Manhattan in 1980.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.
She married Kenneth R. Chapman on Feb. 16, 1935, in Abilene. He died Dec. 22, 1985. She married Clinton Hamilton on May 6, 1993, in Manhattan. He survives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in Manhattan. Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Alexander Lock
HIAWATHA -- Alexander H. "Alex" Lock, 75, Hiawatha, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at a Hiawatha hospital.
Mr. Lock farmed northwest of Hiawatha and he operated a saw mill for 15 years. He served in the Army as a first scout in the Third PLT, Third Squad, Alpha Co., 232 INF regiment during World War II. He received a purple heart for wounds he suffered in combat. He also was decorated with the combat infantry badge.
Mr. Lock was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hiawatha.
He married Kathleen Wilkinson on Aug. 6, 1955, in Hiawatha. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Linda Brown, Omaha, Neb., and Theresa Lock and Carol Lock, both of Morrill; four sons, Kenneth Lock, Hiawatha, Thomas Lock, Bern, Richard Lock, Springdale, Ark., and Mike Lock, Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Geneva Berry, Topeka, and Theresa Koger, Dalhart, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hiawatha. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha. Mr. Lock will lie in state after 10 a.m. today at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Laurence Rice
LAWRENCE -- Laurence D. "Larry" Rice, 56, Lawrence, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at a Lawrence hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Lawrence and had been a Cottonwood client for many years.

Mildred Toney
ATCHISON -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, in Atchison, for Mildred Louise Toney, 88, of Lancaster. She died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at a Kansas City, Kan., hospital.
Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, in Troy. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Eda Tremblay
CLYDE -- Eda M. Tremblay, 94, Clyde, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at a Clay Center hospital.
She was born Feb. 26, 1907, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Edward Provost and Elsie Bachand. She had lived in Clyde since 1961.
Mrs. Tremblay was a former member of the St. Joseph Parish and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde.
She married Adelore H. Tremblay on Feb. 9, 1926, in St. Joseph. He died March 17, 1979. Mrs. Tremblay also was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Tremblay, and a grandson, Brian.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald L. Tremblay, Clifton, and James H. Tremblay, Clyde; two sisters, Alma Hanson, Concordia, and Theresa Kuhn, Garden City; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in St. Joseph. Mrs. Tremblay will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, where a parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. She will lie in state at the church after 6 p.m. today where a vigil service will be at 7 p.m.

Ramona Turner
OVERBROOK -- Ramona Kathryn Turner, 72, Overbrook, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Turner had worked in the Osage City clerk's office and for the Kansas Department of Transportation.
She was born June 1, 1929, in Watts, Okla., the daughter of Noel D. and Elsie M. Selsor. She moved to Osage City from the Kansas City area in 1946. She moved to Overbrook in 1977.
Mrs. Turner was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osage City, the ELCW at the church and the Tuesday Study Club in Osage City. She also served as treasurer of Sail A Way Estates in Overbrook.
She married Thomas Hamlin Turner on Jan. 4, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Susan Ann Montgomery, LaCygne, Kathryn Lee Knowlton, Tempe, Ariz., Nola Jean Roth, Oakpark, Ill., and Taime Sue Pitchford, Emporia; two sons, William Thomas Turner, of Denver, and Michael D. Turner, of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osage City. Burial will be at Valley Brook Cemetery south of Overbrook. Mrs. Turner will lie in state from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City.

Raymond Dee Stover, infant son of Charles "Chuck" W. and Hope Frakes Stover II, Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.
In addition to his parents, survivors include grandparents, Arthur and Alice Frakes, Valley Falls, and Karen S. Stover and Robert H. Stover, both of Topeka; and great-grandparents, Helen Grollmes, Nortonville, Charles W. Stover, Topeka, and Elizabeth Claiborne, Sanger, Calif.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. The infant will lie in state from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

WAMEGO -- Sarah J. "Suzie" Zoeller, 63, Wamego, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at a Wamego hospital.
Among survivors is her husband, Eugene "Bud" Zoeller, at home.

William LeRoy Ackerman, 67, Berryton, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at his home.
