Emily Ison
Emily Renee Keola-O-Kalani Ison, 11-month-old daughter of Terry Ison and Christina Delaney, Topeka, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Jan. 13, 2000, in Topeka.
In addition to her parents, other survivors include a brother, Kaleb Gilliatte, Topeka; grandparents, Jack and Tonia Ison, Topeka; and a great-grandmother, Martha Huntsman, Topeka.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The infant will lie in state from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel.
Pedro Delgado
Pedro Hernandez Delgado, 46, Topeka, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at a Wichita hospital.
Mr. Delgado was a building framer in the construction industry until his death.
He was born June 28, 1954, in Reynosa, Mexico, the son of Consuelo Hernandez and Pablo Delgado. He graduated from high school in Reynosa, Mexico, and he served in the Mexican Army, where he earned a top marksmanship award.
Mr. Delgado was an organ donor.
Survivors include his fiance, Claudene Ickard, Topeka; four brothers, Ignacio Hernandez, Wauchula, Fla., Pablo Hernandez Delgado, Topeka, and Juan Jose Hernandez Delgado and Arnulfo Hernandez Delgado, both of Reynosa, Mexico; and a sister, Candalaria Hernandez Delgado, in South Carolina.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Delgado will lie in state after noon today at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

Nola Glenn
Nola May Glenn, 89, formerly of Topeka, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at a Holton nursing home.
Mrs. Glenn was a bookkeeper and clerk for Seabrook Pharmacy in Topeka for many years. She also did volunteer work in various capacities at Knightsbridge Manor, where she lived.
She was born May 1, 1911, in Goff, the daughter of Calvin and Mable McClain Clelland. She graduated from Goff High School in 1928.
Mrs. Glenn was a charter member of First Southern Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She also was a member of the Topeka Round-Up Club and North Topeka Saddle Club.
She married Dwight Glenn on Dec. 24, 1930, in Goff. He died April 2, 1987. Mrs. Glenn also was preceded in death by a son, Gary Allen Glenn.
Survivors include a son, Dwight E. Glenn, Wichita; two daughters, Leona M. Bleier, Holton, and Mary Jane Oberhelman, Topeka; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Glenn will lie in state after noon today at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

William Strube
William Donald Strube, 70, Topeka, died Dec. 25, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Strube had been a taxi driver in Topeka for many years.
He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Floyd and Helen Handran Strube.
Survivors include a brother, Paul Strube, Muskegon, Mich.; and three half brothers, Larry Gritten and Bobby Gritten, both of Topeka, and Dale Gritten, Meriden.
Mr. Strube was cremated. Burial of cremains at Memorial Park Cemetery will be private.

Frank Whitsell Sr.
Frank Irwin Whitsell Sr., 64, Topeka, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.

Mary Ann Boaz
AMARILLO, Texas -- Mary Ann Boaz, 71, Amarillo, died Dec. 7, 2001, at an Amarillo hospital.
Mrs. Boaz worked for the Pantex Atomic Energy Plant in Amarillo from 1974 until she retired in 1997.
She was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Amarillo, the daughter of Willis and Dorothy Smith Walker. She attended school in Claude, Texas, where she graduated at the top of her high school class, and St. Mary's Conservatory of Music where she became a master pianist. She also performed in several local musical productions. She was a longtime resident of Topeka and Shawnee County.
She married Stanley Boaz in 1977 in Amarillo. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Belinda Miller; a son, Kirk Miller; four grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
Services were Dec. 11 at the N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Home Pioneer Chapel in Amarillo and burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo.
Carol Peters
COUNCIL GROVE -- Carol D. Peters, 81, Council Grove, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at a Council Grove nursing home.
She was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Dwight, the daughter of Lorenzo "Pat" and Arnolla Fisher McDiffett. She was a lifelong resident of Morris County.
Mrs. Peters was a member of Dwight United Methodist Church and the auxiliary to Post No. 45 of the American Legion in Junction City.
She married Howard L. Peters on April 29, 1944, in Junction City. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Paul Peters, Council Grove, and Alan Peters, Americus; a daughter, SuAnn Burgin, Portland, Texas; a sister, JoAnn Evans, Dwight; a brother, Ellis McDiffett, Overland Park; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Chapel of the Flint Hills in Council Grove. Burial will be at the Dwight Cemetery. Mrs. Peters will lie in state at the funeral chapel from 1 to 9 p.m. today, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

Dale Foster
ADA, Okla. -- Dale J. Foster, 80, Ada, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at an Ada hospital.
Mr. Foster had worked for State Typewriter in Topeka, Kan., and later owned and operated a stereo business in Ontario, Calif., and in Denver.
He was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Otha M. and Mary Frances Mohler Foster. He was raised in Topeka. He moved to Ada from Denver.
He married Irene Espinosa on March 12, 1949, in Topeka. She died March 6, 1987. He married Delores Meek on Oct. 11, 1990. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Ginger Miller and Gayla Gonzales, both in Dallas, and Stacy Spann, Ada; two sons, Richard Foster, Ontario, Calif., and Galen "Bung" Foster, Denver; three sisters, Lucille Childery, Maxine Krallman-Taylor and Wanda Phillips, all in Topeka; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Maxwell Cemetery in Ada. Criswell Funeral Home in Ada is in charge of arrangements.
Timothy Gabel
SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Timothy L. Gabel, 22, Sandusky, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at his home. He had leukemia.
Mr. Gabel was the assistant manager for a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Sandusky the past three years.
He was born July 18, 1978, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Dan and Winnetta Hernandez Gabel. He attended Topeka Public Schools and Topeka West High School.
Mr. Gabel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky.
He married Heather Trent in August 1999. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Alexis Gabel, at home; his mother, Winnetta Sheppard, Sandusky; his father and stepmother, Dan and Tammy Gabel, Topeka; two sisters, Lindsay Larson and MaKayla Gabel, both of Topeka; four brothers, D.J. Gabel, Dustin Larson, Trevor Gabel and Tanner Gabel, all of Topeka; grandparents, Edwin and Mary Ann Gabel, Topeka, and Roger and Alma Fae Christiansen, Sandusky; and stepgrandparents, Judy and Lenny Thompson, and Eldon and Cindy Ray, all of Preston, Iowa.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sandusky. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Groff Funeral Home Perkins Chapel, and 9:30 to 10:3 a.m. Friday at the church.

Adelene Gabel
NESS CITY -- Adelene F. Gabel, 96, Ness City, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at a Ness City care facility.
She was born Dec. 17, 1906, in Munjor, to Peter F. and Clara Befort Pfannenstiel. She moved to Ness City in 1933.
Mrs. Gabel was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Ness City.
She married Henry L. Gabel on April 28, 1942, in Ness City. He died Jan. 30, 1969. Mrs. Gabel also was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gabel, in 1974.
Survivors include a son, Henry Gabel, Topeka; two daughters, Anita Kemnitz, Colona, Ill., and Sharon Werth, Ness City; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City. Mrs. Gabel will lie in state from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City and until service time Monday at the church. A parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Boni Lea John
BURLINGTON -- Boni Lea John, 70, Burlington, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at a Burlington hospital.
Mrs. John and her husband owned and operated the Prima Pizza Supreme Co. in Iowa for several years. She and her sister later owned and operated the Image Connection Flower Shop in Burlington. She later worked for Palmer and Mills Retail Stores and she was a bartender at the Rock Creek Country Club. She also had worked at a motel in Des Moines, Iowa, many years ago.
She was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Lamoni, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas E. "Ted" and Esther Lucille Nirk Mitchell. She graduated from high school in Garden Grove, Iowa, and lived in Des Moines before she moved to Burlington in 1969.
Mrs. John was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Des Moines.
She married Forrest E. Hunter. They were divorced. She later married Dean John, and they also were divorced.
A son, Kelly McRae Hunter, died Nov. 26, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Forrest E. "Chip" Hunter III, Burlington; a daughter, Sheryl Kay Boo, Almena; a stepdaughter, Gloria Jean Olsen, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Ila Knight and Judy Decker, both of Burlington; a brother, Larry Mitchell, Des Moines; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Burlington. Mrs. John will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Barbara Kline
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Barbara Lea Kline, 78, Arlington, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in Arlington.
She was born July 4, 1922, in Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of Leon and Martha Knight. She had lived many years in Texas.
Survivors include her husband, James Kline, Arlington; a son, Mark Miller, Ventura, Calif.; a daughter, Jill Miller, Grapevine, Texas; two sisters, Jean Pierce and LaVerna Beaston, both of Marion, Kan.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be in Texas. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Marion Cemetery in Marion.

Carl Bennett
COUNCIL GROVE -- Carl Adolph "Cobbie" Bennett, 89, Council Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at a Council Grove hospital.
Mr. Bennett was a farmer and stockman in the Diamond Springs area his entire life. He also worked for the Beech Aircraft Co. in Delavan in the 1950s.
He was born Nov. 22, 1911, at Diamond Springs, the son of Carl O. and Hazel E. Snodgrass Bennett. His mother died while he was an infant, and he was raised by his grandparents.
Mr. Bennett was a member of Wilsey United Methodist Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge.
He married Wilma Horton on Aug. 10, 1935, in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Carol Miller, Delavan, and Betty "Cookie" Bacon, Lawrence; a sister, Leta Werts, Alpine, Calif.; a half sister, Irene Alexander, Wichita; a half brother, Kenneth Bennett, Emporia; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Bennett, in 1951.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wilsey United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Diamond Springs Cemetery. Mr. Bennett will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Kendall Funeral Chapel in Council Grove, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
