WAKEFIELD -- John V. Forsyth, 86, Wakefield, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mr. Forsyth was born Feb. 14, 1917, in Eagle Lake, Texas. He was a farmer and also worked for several rock quarry companies.

His wife, Imogene, died Sept. 4, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Roger of Abilene and John of Wakefield; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mizpah United Methodist Church in rural Clay County. Burial will be in Athelstane Cemetery, rural Clay County.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Winifred Leona Gleason
RUSSELL -- Winifred Leona Gleason, 90, Russell, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mrs. Gleason was born Winifred Roe on Nov. 24, 1912, in Russell. She had been a teaching assistant and later worked for the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in Russell from 1962 to 1977.

Her husband, Bernard R., died in 1974.

Survivors include nephews.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Russell.

Memorials may be made to Southwind Hospice, in care of the mortuary.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday.

Janet Kaye Griffin Goree
VALLEJO, Calif. -- Janet Kaye Griffin Goree, 61, Vallejo, formerly of Salina, Kan., died Sept. 18, 2003.
Mrs. Goree was born Janet Griffin on Jan. 15, 1942, in Newton. She was a microfilm processor for R.W. Scott/Eastbay Gasket and the State of California for 37 years.

Survivors include a son, Lance of Walnut Creek; and a brother, Donald Payne of Redmond, Va.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, in care of Roselawn Mortuary, 1307 S. Santa Fe, Salina 67401.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Ailene Guy
ENTERPRISE -- Ailene Guy, 94, Enterprise, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Miss Guy was born Sept. 28, 1909, in rural Ottawa County. She was a teacher in Ottawa County, Junction City and Oakhill for many years, retiring in 1973, then worked as the Longford city clerk and treasurer for 12 years.

Survivors include a sister, Gratia Evans of Topeka.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Longford. Burial will be in Rose Meron Cemetery, rural Clay County.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432.

There will be no visitation.

Catherine V. "Katy" Harper
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Catherine V. "Katy" Harper, 81, Colorado Springs, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Koons Funeral Home, Goodland, Kan., is handling arrangements.

Jack J. Haskins
WINSTED, Conn. -- Jack J. Haskins, 69, Winsted, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003.
Mr. Haskins was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Formoso, Kan. He worked for American States Insurance Co., retiring in 1996.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joel E. Haskins.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila; a daughter, Astrid Robitaille; and a grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ, Main Street, Winsted.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice, in care of Foothills Visiting Nurse and Home Care, 32 Union St., Winsted, CT 06098.

There will be no visitation.

Shea Funeral Home, 99 Wheeler St., Winsted, CT 06098, is handling arrangements.

Roberta May Kuhn
HAYS -- Roberta May Kuhn, 75, Hays, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mrs. Kuhn was born Roberta Barrett on May 7, 1928, in Russell. She worked as a cook for many years at the Golden Ox, Holiday Inn and the Mall Restaurant and also was a substitute cook at Lincoln School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Remigius C., in 1965; a son, Michael J.; a daughter, Roberta Marie Kuhn; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include five sons, Bob of Hays, Leon of Russell, Ron of Ladera Ranch, Calif., Steve of Pampa, Texas, and Terry of WaKeeney; a daughter, Mary Ann Randa of Liebenthal; two sisters, Willmetta Thompson of Illinois and Naida Fern Carpenter of Sedan; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

A rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. John Rest Home Corp., Hospice of Hays Medical Center or for Masses, in care of Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays 67601.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

John C. Larson
ENTERPRISE -- John C. Larson, 80, Enterprise, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mr. Larson was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Enterprise. He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; two daughters, Lovene Clennan of Hutchinson and Doran Clemence of Abilene; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Enterprise. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Enterprise.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third, Abilene 67410.

Visitation will be until the service Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Brenda Leibold
NORTON, Ohio -- Brenda Leibold, 61, Norton, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.
Mrs. Leibold was born Brenda Bamfield on March 4, 1942, in Salina, Kan.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; three daughters, Tawny Hanlon, Glenda Abner and Valerie Stewart; four stepsons, Richard, Mark, Eric and Paul Leibold; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, P.O. Box 758, Abilene 67410. Burial will follow in Elmo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Marvin "Mac" McGuire
ONAGA -- Marvin "Mac" McGuire, 86, Onaga, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mr. McGuire was born Dec. 5, 1916, south of Onaga. He was a farmer-stockman and also worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Topeka for 22 years, retiring in 1979.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine (Lund), in 1975; his second wife, Irene (Lund), in 1984; a son, Curtis, in 1962; and a stepgrandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; three stepdaughters, Jolene Martin of Salina, Cindy McCosh of Beverly and Kathy Brax of Washington; a stepson, Mark Lund of Green; 15 stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 218 Leonard, Onaga 66521. Burial will be in Onaga Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church or Golden Acres Activity Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until the service Thursday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Harold E. "Gene" McMickell Sr.
MARQUETTE -- Harold E. "Gene" McMickell Sr., 83, Marquette, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.
Mr. McMickell was born Dec. 10, 1919, at Falun. He was a retired certified master optician.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella; a son, Harold E. Jr. of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two daughters, Bonnie Rhodes of Marquette and Jane Hart of Salina; a brother, Bob of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; a sister, Naomi Flint of Salina; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Marquette Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverview Estates, Marquette, or Alzheimer's Research, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

There will be no visitation.

Barbara L. Moralez
DENVER -- Barbara L. Moralez, 54, Denver, died Sept. 16, 2003.
Mrs. Moralez was born Barbara Ross on March 17, 1949, near Formoso, Kan. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; her mother, Carol Johnson of Courtland; two sisters, Laura Ross of Denver and Pat Nielander of Belleville, Kan.; and her stepmother, Charlotte Pounds of Shawnee.

Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Denver, in care of Pat Nielander, 518 18th St., Belleville 66935.

The service was Sept. 20 at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver 80231.

Hollie Fay Rice
JEWELL -- Hollie Fay Rice, 65, Jewell, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003.
Mrs. Rice was born Dec. 18, 1937. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dwane Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Dwane; a son, Milburn Wayne; a daughter, Kathy Malory of Jewell; two sisters, JoAnne Smith of McPherson and Betty Henderson of Clay Center; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Harrison-Deneke Funeral Home, 302 N. Hersey, Beloit 67420. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cawker City.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mitchell County Long-Term Care, in care of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Erwin DeLos Watson
Erwin DeLos Watson, 57, Salina, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003.
Mr. Watson was born July 26, 1946, in Belleville. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include two brothers, Austin Jean of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Richard Royal of Peck.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Faith Assembly of God, 905 W. Cloud, Salina. Private inurnment will be in Belleville Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Salina Food Bank in care of Roselawn Mortuary, 1307 S. Santa Fe, Salina 67401.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

J. William "Bill" Wilson
J. William "Bill" Wilson, 80, Salina, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003.
Mr. Wilson was born July 16, 1923, in Sand Springs, Okla. He was a registered professional engineer and the founder of Wilson Constructors Inc., in Salina, which specialized in building schools, churches, hospitals and Corps of Engineers projects with a special focus on U.S. government projects at Fort Riley for more than 40 years.

He was an architectural engineering graduate of the University of Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of the KU Alumni Association, the board of directors of the Raymer Society, the Salina Country Club and Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine C. (Witt), in 1986; and his parents, James Albert and Vera Vivian (Fidler) Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Margie" (Eberhardt), her two sons, Fred Winter of Taos, N.M., and Mit Winter of Topeka, and her four grandchildren; his three sons, James W. II and wife Elaine of Overland Park, Greg and wife Susie of Leawood and Jeff and wife Vicki of Salina; a daughter, Diana Porter and husband Geoffrey of Salina; a brother, Thomas Andrew of Ashley Falls, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, the Rev. Frank Coady and the Rev. John George Weber officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to Ottawa County Health Care Center Transitional Crossroads Unit, in care of the mortuary.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Carroll L. Beardslee
HAYS -- Carroll L. Beardslee, 70, Hays, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.
Mr. Beardslee was born Jan. 30, 1933, in rural Smith County. He was a retired director of scheduling and purchasing at Fort Hays State University.

His wife, Shirley A., died in 2001.

Survivors include a son, Mark of Bremerton, Wash.; two daughters, Kelly Ludlow of Hays and Nancy Beardslee of Bremerton; a sister, Thelma Maydew of Pocatello, Idaho; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine Street, P.O. Box 86, Hays 67601.

Memorials may be made to the Beardslee Grandchildren's Education Fund, in care of the funeral home.

There will be no visitation. The body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical School.

Bonnie M. Bishop
RUSSELL -- Bonnie M. Bishop, 75, Russell, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003.
Mrs. Bishop was born Bonnie Bryan on May 21, 1928, in Morris County, Okla. She worked in the oil fields from 1948 to 1952, then owned and operated the Log Cabin Inn, Russell, until 1968.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kenneth Bishop.

Survivors include special friend, Donald "Boss" Casper, Russell.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665. Burial will follow in Russell City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Russell Regional Hospital Building Fund, in care of the mortuary.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
