CLAY CENTER -- Frances Maude Hammond, 92, Clay Center, died Thursday, June 3, 2004.
Mrs. Hammond was born Frances Maude Neill on May 25, 1912, in Clay County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1991.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Memorials may be made to Clay Center Presbyterian Church.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ruth Martha Haymond
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. -- Ruth Martha Haymond, 87, Bullhead City, formerly of Salina, Kan., died Saturday, May 29, 2004.
Mrs. Haymond was born Aug. 11, 1916. She worked in several restaurants in the Salina area before moving to Arizona in 1994.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Leslie W. in 1994 and Robert E. in 2002.

Survivors include five sons, Terry Haymond of Bullhead City, Ed Laundeane of Florida, Harry Haymond of Missouri, Terrance Haymond of Illinois and Roy Haymond of Arizona; four daughters, Beaulah Cochran of Connecticut, Treva Burd of Solomon, Kan., Elizabeth Fiest of Salina, and Viva Edwards of Gypsum, Kan.; two sisters, Alfretta Brown and Beaulah Kaplinger; three brothers, Jim, Matthew and Harry Leuf; 26 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated and will beburiedin Worden, Kan., at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina.

Desert Lawn Funeral Home and Crematory, 503 Marina, Bullhead City, Ariz., handled arrangements.

Mary C. Lee
OSBORNE -- Mary C. Lee, 98, Osborne, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004.
Mrs. Lee was born Mary C. Weddle on Oct. 5, 1905, in Larned. She was a retired teacher and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Bill," in 2003; and a son Garen William in 1980.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Simmons Mortuary, 116 W. First, Smith Center 66967. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center.

Memorials may be made to McPherson College.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the mortuary.

LINCOLN -- Mabel Mabry, 84, Lincoln, died Friday, June 4, 2004.

HOXIE -- Clyde Junior McGinty, 73, of Hoxie died Thursday, June 3, 2004.

Arthur Lee Razak
HAYS -- Arthur Lee Razak, 85, Hays, formerly of Collyer, died Monday, May 31, 2004.
Mr. Razak was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Collyer. He was a farmer and founder of the Northwest Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Hanora, in 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Lenna Lea Wiebe of Goddard and Paula Rae Peterson of Abilene; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 15 at Cline's Mortuary, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays 67601.

Memorials may be made to Northwest Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired Scholarship Fund or the Park West Plaza Care Center Education Foundation.

There will be no visitation. The body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

GOODLAND -- Eva Bertha Reinke, 86, Goodland, died Friday, June 4, 2004.

CONCORDIA -- Ruth E. Runyan, 78, Concordia, died Friday, June 4, 2004.

Jo Beverly Ryals
Jo Beverly Ryals, 60, Salina, died Thursday, June 3, 2004.
Mrs. Ryals was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Webb City, Mo. She was a graduate of Wichita South High School, Wichita. Mrs. Ryals retired as a secretary for American Family Insurance, Laurie Debold Association, Salina. She also had been owner of D&J Wheel Estate and was a proofreader at the Salina Journal. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles and was a longtime volunteer for the Special Olympics. She attended First United Methodist Church, Assaria. In 1961, she married Jack Davis Jr. They later divorced.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Wayne Grimes, in 1985.

Survivors include three sons, Kevin and wife Tonya of Anderson, Mo., Ron and wife Trudy of Ramona and Jon of Salina; her mother, Thelma Grimes and her friend Bernard Adams, both of Salina; her sister Barbara and husband Jerry Long of Haysville; a brother, Ralph Wayne and wife Cheryl Grimes of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina 67401, Pastor Nancy Crowl officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park, Joplin, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead, Topeka 66604.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Constance "Connie" Shasteen
GOODLAND -- Constance "Connie" Shasteen, 58, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004.

Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Stroup
BELOIT -- Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Stroup, 75, Beloit, died Thursday, June 3, 2004.
Mrs. Stroup was born Elizabeth Mae Keener on April 8, 1929, in Lookout, W.Va. She was a cook.

Survivors include her husband, George of Beloit; a son, Steven of Columbus, Ga..; three daughters, Debra Schwenn of Burr Oak, Bonnie Axtell of Salina and Pamela Lee of Junction City; a brother, Ervin Keener of Biloxi, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Beloit. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Beloit.

Memorials may be made to the church youth ministry.

Visitation is from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Harrison-Deneke Funeral Home, 302 N. Hersey, Beloit 67420.

Kenneth Wellbrock
HAYS -- Kenneth Wellbrock, 61, Hays, died Thursday, June 3, 2004.
Mr. Wellbrock was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Hays. He was a certified public accountant, partnered with Bob Lutz in Wellbrock and Lutz for more than 25 years and presently was owner of Kenneth Wellbrock, Chartered.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn J. Peavey, in 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys of the home; a son, Brian Wellbrock of Irving, Texas; and a sister, Margaret Wellbrock of Hays.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

A parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Brock's North Chapel Hill, 2509 Vine, Hays 67601.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

John E. Wilcox
AUSTIN, Texas -- John E. Wilcox, 65, Austin, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004.
Mr. Wilcox was born July 11, 1938, in Concordia, Kan. He retired from the Air Force after 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Austin; two daughters, Teresa Templeton of Round Rock and Cindy Parker of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two sisters, Elizabeth Wilgers of Colorado and Arlene Graepp of Illinois; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Hope Lutheran Church, Austin. Burial will be in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery with military honors.

Helen Janette Buenning
Helen Janette Buenning, 88, Salina, died Monday, June 7, 2004.

Mrs. Buenning was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Woodville, N.H., the daughter of the late Frederick Earl and Ethel (Reynolds) Thayer. She graduated from high school in Rochester, N.Y., and was a seamstress for Keels Men's Store, Abilene. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salina and a lifetime Sunday school teacher for 2- to 4-year-olds at various churches.

She married Elmer A. Buenning on May 18, 1941. He died in 1980.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Evans.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane M. Watson and husband Phil of Abilene and Laura S. Buenning-Thayer and husband Patrick Royer of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, Lester A. Buenning and wife Beverlee of Martin, N.D., and Fred H. Buenning and wife Rosemary of Lakewood, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Darcy Bryant and husband Kelly of Herington, Brice E. Buenning of Bremerton, Wash., Nancy Stroup and husband BJ of Abilene, Jennifer Flannery and husband Greg of Paxico, and Ellie and Hannah Buenning, both of Lakewood, Colo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Salina, Pastor Jim Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Hope.

HOISINGTON -- Leonard E. Gage, 90, Hoisington, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004.

Mr. Gage was born April 22, 1914, in Barton County. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include a wife, Olive M. of the home; a son, Dwight L. of Salina; two daughters, Janice Lawless of Overland Park and Eileen Covert of Robinson; two sisters, Maxine Wilson of Salina and Eunice Coon of Houston; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main, Hoisington 67544. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hoisington Bible Church or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Albert "Al" Graf
HAYS -- Albert "Al" Graf, 88, Hays, died Monday, June 7, 2004.

Mr. Graf was born May 17, 1916, in Victoria. He was manager of the Fort Hays State Dairy Farm and also farmed.

Survivors include his wife, Rosine of the home; four daughters, Laura Mickelson and Pat Lang, both of Hays, Cory Hansen of Papillion, Neb., and Debby Bieker of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

The Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard at 6 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, Hays 67601. An Eagle's service will be at 6 p.m., Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m., parish vigil at 7 p.m., and a combined third- and fourth-degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:15 p.m., all today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Albert Graf Scholarship Fund at Fort Hays State University.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Marjorie F. Ireland
HAYS -- Marjorie F. Ireland, 77, Hays, died Saturday, June 5, 2004.

Mrs. Ireland was born Marjorie F. Beaushaw on Sept. 14, 1926, in Jamestown. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, John A., died in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny of Hays and Gregg of Topeka; two brothers, Duane Beaushaw of Hutchinson and Merrill Beaushaw of Jamestown; a sister, Ila Lewis of Belleville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays 67601. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Jamestown City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. John's of Hays Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Eulalia C. Lillich
ST. FRANCIS -- Eulalia C. Lillich, 94, St. Francis, formerly of Bird City, died Sunday, June 6, 2004.

Miss Lillich was born March 11, 1910, in Elk Creek, Neb. She worked in a bakery.

Survivors include a brother, Otto Lillich of St. Francis; and a sister, Adelina Walter of St. Francis.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Bird City. Family inurnment will be in Bird City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1999; and a son.

Survivors include two daughters, Velva Mockerman of Clay Center and Linda Harle of Salina; a sister, Betty Rutherford of California; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel, 918 Seventh, Clay Center 67432. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.
