GOODLAND -- Mary A. Wyant, 55, Goodland, died Friday, June 11, 2004, as the result of an automobile crash.
Her mother, Aline M. Becker, and daughter, Christine M. Williams, died in the same crash.
Survivors include her husband, Charles of Goodland; two sons, Chuck and Craig, both of Wichita; two sisters, Berta Egan of Lakewood, Colo., and Rose Phillips of Menlo; three brothers, Eugene L. Becker of Goodland, Robert E. Becker of Hoxie and Donald Joseph Becker of Winona; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Mountain time Wednesday at Max Jones Fieldhouse, Goodland. Burial will be in Goodland Cemetery.
A vigil with a rosary said will be at 6 p.m. Mountain time today at the fieldhouse.

Theaus NormaLea Burris
HOISINGTON -- Theaus NormaLea Burris, 81, Hoisington, died Friday, July 30, 2004.
Mrs. Burris was born Theaus NormaLea Fox on March 7, 1923, in Great Bend. She and her husband formerly co-owned Burris Jewelry Store in Hoisington and she was a switchboard operator for United Van Lines in Fenton, Mo.
Her husband, Hugh G., died in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, James B. of Escondido, Calif., and David J. of Halls, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Hoisington. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.

TOPEKA -- Gladys Mae Thiel Haslouer, 90, Topeka, formerly of Concordia and Enterprise, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Haslouer of Topeka; a son, Gerald E. of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister, Mildred Zachary of Las Vegas; and an aunt, Elsie Thiel of Gypsum.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Abilene. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery, Abilene.

PHILLIPSBURG -- Velma Hempler, 103, Phillipsburg, died Saturday, July 31, 2004.
Miss Hempler was born Feb. 14, 1901, in Phillips County. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a niece, Judy Wright of Phillipsburg; and a great-niece, Peggy Hartsook of Ojai, Calif.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Phillips County.

Walter W. Kincheloe
ST. FRANCIS -- Walter W. Kincheloe, 73, St. Francis, died Friday, July 30, 2004.
Mr. Kincheloe was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Akron, Colo. He was a retired schoolteacher and stock clerk.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores of St. Francis; two sons, Gene of Evans, Colo., and Chad of Des Plaines, Ill.; a brother, Jesse of Cody, Wyo.; three sisters, Mary Minter of Wichita, Josette Kuntz of Otis, Colo., and Billie Mae Severin of Akron; and a grandson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be later in St. John Church of Christ Cemetery, Idalia, Colo.

RUSSELL -- Cameron Alan McCall, 4-month-old infant son of Audrey Leigh Mermis and Daniel Alan McCall, Russell, died Friday, July 30, 2004.
He was born March 10, 2004, in Hays.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his grandparents, Steve and Diana Mermis of Russell and Kathy McCall of Norfolk, Va.; his great-grandparents, Julia Mermis of Gorham, Nadine Bender of Andover, and Don and Bonnie McCall of Downs; and his great-great-grandmother, Kathryn Gruber of Tucson, Ariz.
A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665. The body was cremated.

Monna Jean Pearson
FORT SCOTT -- Monna Jean Pearson, 61, Fort Scott, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, as the result of an automobile wreck.
Mrs. Pearson was born Monna Jean Haskins on May 28, 1943, in McPherson. She was a nurse for the Southwest Kansas Correctional Center in Fort Scott.
Survivors include her husband, Rich of the home; two daughters, Rita Holets of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Lisa Webb of Flower Mound, Texas; her mother, Jannie Haskins of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Lila Scroggins of Blossom, Texas, and Lou Hinkle of Salina; a brother, Forrest Haskins of Topeka; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Scott. Inurnment will be later in Lindsborg.

HERINGTON -- Evan L. Wendt, 81, Herington, died Saturday, July 31, 2004.
Mr. Wendt was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Woodbine, the son of Theodore and Irene (Traskowsky) Wendt. He was a helicopter mechanic for the civil service in Fort Riley. He married Ida Mae Graves on Jan. 22, 1953.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Poskey; a brother, Glenn Wendt; and a son, Steve Allen Wendt, in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae of Herington; a son, Donald Wendt and wife Denise of Salina; a daughter, Jacqueline Sjodahl of Herington; a sister-in-law, Alice Wendt of Herington; five grandchildren, Kristin Wendt, Stephanie Wendt, Michael Sjodahl, Jessica Sjodahl and Michelle Wendt; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, the Rev. Alix Pridgen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, with complete military honors.

Virgil W. "Warren" Achilles
McPHERSON -- Virgil W. "Warren" Achilles, 85, McPherson, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004.
Mr. Achilles was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Copeland. He was chief gauger and dispatcher at National Cooperative Refinery Association in McPherson for 31 years, retiring in 1984.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda J. "Jean," of McPherson; a son, Stanley of Newton; four stepdaughters, Linda Herr of McPherson, Pat Goatley of Lorraine, Carol Goering of Moundridge and Susan Kendricks of Whitewater; a stepson, Jeffrey Baker of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Opal Carlson of Jefferson, Ore., and Deloris Williams of McPherson; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

HERINGTON -- Laura W. Ayres, 101, Herington, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004.
Mrs. Ayres was born Laura W. Langhofer on June 24, 1903, at Hope. She was a homemaker and worked as a clerk at Boellings Pharmacy and later was a lunch room helper at Herington Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin H., in 1958; a daughter, Jean Goodman, in 1977; a son, Oscar Ayres, in 1995; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Muriel Ihde of Herington and Jessie Longhofer of Granbury, Texas; a brother, Alden Langhofer of Wichita; a sister, Selena Lay of Newton; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Herington. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Border was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Everett, Pa. He was a textile worker at Celanese Fiber Co. in LaVale for 28 years, then was a custodian for the Board of Education of Allegany County for six years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Louise, of McPherson; three sons, Allen of Wichita, Joe of McPherson and Dan of Warsaw, N.Y.; a brother, Dave of Yuba City, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
