Mr. Michael was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Jewell County. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn "Marie"; and a son, Paul.

Survivors include two sons, Roger of Brewster and Greg of Claremore, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brewster Community Church. Burial will be in Brewster Cemetery.

SYLVAN GROVE -- Juanita Irene Urban, 81, Sylvan Grove, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004.
Mrs. Urban was born Juanita Irene Corbett on Feb. 24, 1923, in Slick, Okla. She was a homemaker and nurse's aide.

She was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Urban Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Doyle, of Sylvan Grove; two sons, Dale of Casper, Wyo., and George of Ellsworth; two daughters, Sharon Ringler of Sylvan Grove and Linda Cox of Claflin; two brothers, George Corbett of Broomfield, Colo., and Bill Corbett of Cody, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sylvan Grove Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Sylvan Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or Lincoln Senior Center.

Kathryn R. Walsh, 86, Salina, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004.
Mrs. Walsh was born Kathryn R. Ingram on Oct. 14, 1917, in Beloit. She was a secretary for University United Methodist Church.

Her husband, William "Ron" Walsh, died in 1993.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald W. of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Dr. Steven I. of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Phillip K. of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at University United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Claude Elmer Willard
HUTCHINSON -- Claude Elmer Willard, 84, Hutchinson, died Friday, July 30, 2004.
Mr. Willard was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Pratt. He managed the bakery at Dillons in Salina from 1956 to 1968, then moved to Hutchinson and retired in 1978, having worked for Dillons for 33 years.

His wife, Vivian Hope, died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Gary L. of Lindsborg; two daughters, Beverly Stone of Moore Haven, Fla., and Shirley Swinton of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two brothers, Dale of Panhandle, Texas, and James Jr. of Enid, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or National Kidney Foundation of Kansas.

TAMPA -- Leon Hajek, 79, Tampa, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004. Mr. Hajek was born Jan. 13, 1925, in rural Marion County. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include two sisters, Loretta Blanchat of Wichita and Mildred Feik of Las Animas, Colo. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. Burial will be in Pilsen Cemetery. SCOTT CITY -- Mary E. Harper, 85, Scott City, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004. Mrs. Harper was born Mary E. Harmon on March 5, 1919, in Greenwood County. She was a homemaker and farm wife. Survivors include her husband Norman of Scott City; two sons, Larry of Goodland and Galen of Scott City; a daughter, Mariel Wiegers of Goodland; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Community Christian Church, Scott City. Burial will be in Healy Cemetery, Healy. Tony Lynn Humphries Jr.
Tony Lynn Humphries Jr., 24, Salina, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004. Mr. Humphries was born Dec. 8, 1979, in Salina. He worked for Ballou Construction. Survivors include his wife Janet of Salina; a daughter, Aaliyah Humphries of Topeka; his parents Terry and Vickie Humphries of Salina; two brothers, Chris of Topeka and Thomas of Salina; a sister, Angela Boluia of Lincoln; and two stepbrothers, Dalton and Dakota Frost, both of Salina. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

LINDSBORG -- Clifford A. Johnson, 89, Lindsborg, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004. Mr. Johnson was born June 2, 1915, in Falun. He was a farmer and stockman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Bloomquist of Lindsborg; two brothers, Vernon of Smolan and Loren of Assaria; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Salemsborg Lutheran Church, Smolan. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of the home; three sons, John L. of Eliston, Colo., Dan C. of Ladson, S.C., and Justin D. of Collbran, Colo.; a daughter, Kristina M. Brown of Salina; a brother, Charles Emerson Ahring of Mesa, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lincoln City Cemetery. HAYS -- Jeffrey Jerome Andrews, 42, Hays, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004. Mr. Andrews was born Sept. 30, 1961, in Hays. He worked for the city of Hays for 10 years and then worked at Adronics-Elrob Manufacturing in Hays. Survivors include his former wife, Elizabeth; a son, Joshua Jeffrey Andrews of Hays; a daughter, Natasha Elizabeth Andrews of Hays; his father, Gary Andrews of Hays; his mother and stepfather, Richard and Judith Ann Van Bebber of Phillipsburg; a brother, Mark Michael Andrews of Wichita; a sister, Carolyn Anne Andrews of Hays; and a granddaughter. Sister Teresita Fisher
CONCORDIA -- Sister Teresita Fisher, 96, Concordia, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004. Sister Teresita was born March 14, 1908, in Munjor, Russia. She spent 40 years teaching grade and high schools staffed by the Sisters in Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois and Michigan. In 1974, she was teaching in Sacred Heart Grade School, where she served as principal. Survivors include nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Motherhouse Chapel, Concordia. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Retirement Fund.

Karen G. Gorton
RUSSELL -- Karen G. Gorton, 58, Russell, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004. Mrs. Gorton was born Karen G. Gilpin on March 17, 1946, in Topeka. She and her husband owned and operated Gilpin & Gorton and then opened Paper Mart Stores in Russell and Hays. Survivors include her husband, Gordon of the home; and a brother, Bill Gilpin of Russell. She was a homemaker and worked as a chef for Starlight Lanes, Holiday Manor and the McPherson Senior Center, all of McPherson, and worked as a secretary for Art Hodson attorney in Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Roy Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Janis Chrislip and Cheryl Allison, both of McPherson; a son, Larry D. Smith of McPherson; a sister, Lucille Huffman of Black Foot, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Walter, of the home; two daughters, Kathy Little of Hays and Cindy Staab of Goodland; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Phyllis Nadyne Walker
MILTONVALE -- Phyllis Nadyne Walker, 74, Miltonvale, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004. Mrs. Walker was born Phyllis Nadyne Briggs on July 2, 1930, in Cloud County. She was a lifelong resident of the Lamar community. She married William (Bill) Walker on Sept. 7, 1952, at Miltonvale. She was a retired elementary teacher and librarian for 29 years in rural Ottawa County schools and Miltonvale/Glasco schools. She was a graduate of Marymount College in Salina and a member of the the Miltonvale United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Good Sam camping group of Wichita and KNEA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Dorothy (Winsett) Briggs. Survivors include her husband, William (Bill) Walker, of Miltonvale; three sons, Terry Walker and wife Marlene of Miltonvale, Greg Walker and wife Elaine of Leavenworth and Kevin Walker of Miltonvale; a daughter, Denelle Mick and husband Lee of Cawker City; six grandchildren, Brett and Mark Walker of Miltonvale, Travis Mick of Lawrence, Shawna Mick of Cawker City and Aaron and Patrick Walker of Seattle; a stepgrandson, Tom Rohus and wife Connie; and a step-great-granddaughter, Katelyn Rohus. RUSSELL -- Edna E. Anschutz, 94, Russell, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004.

Mrs. Anschutz was born Edna E. Wittman on April 26, 1910, in Russell. She was a telephone operator in Russell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Ron of Russell and Roger of Hays; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665. Burial will be in Russell City Cemetery.

WAKEFIELD -- Helen Maxine Baer, 84, Wakefield, formerly of Chapman, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004.

Mrs. Baer was born Helen Maxine Heller on Nov. 27, 1919, in rural Woodbine. She was a teacher and worked at The Mercantile, Chapman.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin of Junction City; a son, Dennis of rural Junction City; a daughter, Connie Baer of Junction City; four sisters, Evelyn Gugler of Abilene, Bernice Schaefer of Arvada, Colo., Dorothy Hartenstein of rural Abilene and Ruth Beetch of Carlton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Londeen Funeral Chapel, 206 W. Fifth, Chapman 67431. Burial will be in Indian Hill Cemetery, Chapman.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, 1024 Sheridan, Hoxie 67740.

Richard M. Eberspacher
HERINGTON -- Richard M. Eberspacher, 63, Herington, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.

Mr. Eberspacher was born March 19, 1941, in Herington. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Russell of Wichita and Brian of Douglass; a daughter, Loraine Eberspacher of Wichita; his mother, Emma Wendlandt of Herington; a sister, Darlene Bayes of Salina; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 404 S. Broadway, Herington 67449-3038. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service today.

Richard Vincent (Vann) Irvin
Richard Vincent (Vann) Irvin, 53, Salina, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004.

Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, is handling arrangements.

Henrietta McConnan
SUN CITY, Calif. -- Henrietta McConnan, 80, Sun City, died Aug. 10, 2004.

Mrs. McConnan was born Henrietta Worrell on Jan. 2, 1924, in White City, Kan. She was a cook.

Survivors include three sons, Dale Putman of Emporia, Kan., Ted Putman of Terre Haute, Ind., and Claude "Bud" Putman of Norco, Calif.; three daughters, Sandra "Sandy" Martini of Las Vegas, Patsy Winkle of Checotah, Okla., and Mary Peebler of Sun City; two brothers, Les and Fred Worrell, both of White City; a sister, Mona Jean Newberry of Junction City, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, White City. Burial will be in White City Cemetery, with an Eastern Star service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, 404 S. Broadway, Herington 67449.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Darryl Wesley Revels
Darryl Wesley Revels, 25, Salina, died Aug. 10, 2004.

Mr. Revels was born Dec. 29, 1978, in Salina. He was a laborer.

Survivors include his father, Darryl W. Tiller of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his mother, Darlene Wright of Salina; a son, Darrion Wesley Revels of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Talisha Ann McDaniel and husband Shaun and Chiereene Nichole Revels, all of Salina; a brother, Jermaine Otis Revels of Salina; his grandparents, Sylvia A. Revels of Salina and Otis Tiller of Chattanooga; and his great-grandparents, Minor and Donna Harris of Salina.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carlson-Ford-Geisen-dorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the education fund for Darrion W. Revels, in care of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Naida Smith
PHILLIPSBURG -- Naida Smith, 88, Phillipsburg, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004.

Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Phillips County. She was a retired social worker and municipal court judge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. "Biddy" Smith, in 1979.

Survivors include a son, William "Willie" of Phillipsburg; three daughters, Cynthia Brashear of Chandler, Ariz., Sherry White of Cedaredge, Colo., and Jill Neese of Dodge City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

There is no service planned. The body will be cremated.

Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church or Phillips County Retirement Center.

Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 Second, Phillipsburg 67661, is handling the arrangements.
