BURLINGTON, Colo. -- Guy Leonard Anderson, 78, Burlington, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004.
Mr. Anderson was born June 30, 1926, in Beverly, Kan. He was a retired farmer and rancher.

Survivors include his wife, Madonna R.; three sons, Scott of Kirk, and Steven and Stanley, both of Lincoln, Kan.; a daughter, Sharon Herman of Salina, Kan.; three sisters, Roxie Jenkins of Beverly, Mary Ann Cooper of Denver and Gail Livengood of Ottawa, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

There will be no service. Burial will be at a later date in Beverly.

NARKA -- Charley E. Blecha, 98, Narka, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004.

Donald P. Bryan
MANHATTAN -- Donald P. Bryan, 78, Manhattan, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
Mr. Bryan was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Lincoln. He operated Don's Stump Removal and Tree Service, Manhattan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois A., in 2001; a son, Roger A., in 2001; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include a son, Jerry D. of DeRidder, La.; two daughters, Linda S. Parker of Benbrook, Texas, and Donna K. Whitehill of Augusta; a brother, Delbert of Beloit; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, 1317 Poyntz, Manhattan 66502. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lincoln City Cemetery, with military honors.

Memorials may be made to Crestview Christian Church or the Manhattan Lions Club, in care of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cleo E. Burke
WICHITA -- Cleo E. Burke, 91, Wichita, formerly of Whitewater, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mr. Burke was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Joplin, Mo. He was a retired car salesman.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include a son, Charles of Gainsville, Ga.; a daughter, Cleora Sue Cooper of Wichita; a brother, Gerald of Wichita; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Testament Baptist Church, Wichita. Burial will be in Whitewater Cemetery, Whitewater.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Watson Funeral Home,Wichita.

Charles Conn Cody
GOODLAND -- Charles Conn Cody, 60, Goodland, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mr. Cody was born July 6, 1944, in Goodland. He was retired from Frontier Equity.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chance Cody.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Cody of Goodland; two daughters, Jamie Cody of Colby and Casey Thompson of Limon, Colo.; his mother, Fern Cody of Sharon Springs; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Mountain time Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Goodland. Burial will be in Goodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Mountain time today at Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland 67735-1555.

Jardine M. Collette
CONCORDIA -- Jardine M. Collette, 95, Concordia, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004.
Mrs. Collette was born Jardine M. Courville on March 26, 1909, in Clyde. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1994; two sons, Lee and Joseph; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Verona Perret and Rita Lutz, both of Concordia, and Joyce Lambert of Clyde; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Burial will be in St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia.

An Altar Society rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. Sixth, Concordia 66901, followed by a vigil at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to VFW Auxiliary Cancer Fund.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruby E. Fees
WICHITA -- Ruby E. Fees, 91, Wichita, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mrs. Fees was born Jan. 13, 1913, in rural Jamestown. She was a retired child-care provider.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, in 1997; and a son, Donald.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Ray, both of Wichita; two daughters, Nedra J. Vestal of Salina and Carol A. Roberts of Liberty, Mo.; a sister, Eva Bergeson of Jamestown; a half brother, Roger Nelson of Jamestown; 15 grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; numerous stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Jamestown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. Sixth, Concordia 66901.

Jill N. Friedli
HOPE -- Jill N. Friedli, 15, Hope, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
Ms. Friedli was born Aug. 17, 1989, in Herington. She was a sophomore at Hope High School.

Survivors include her father, Dennis Friedli and stepmother Eve Hobday of the home; her mother, Avis Friedli Branum and stepfather Craig Branum of Mountain Home, Ark.; a brother, Cory Friedli of the home; her grandfather, Harold Friedli of Herington; and her grandmothers, Doris McDiffett of Alta Vista and Margie Zeiner of Herington.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Herington. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

Memorials may be made to Hope High School or Hope Ball Association, in care of Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Hope.

Visitation will be until the service at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Allen L. Ginther
RUSSELL -- Allen L. Ginther, 43, Russell, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mr. Ginther was born Oct. 5, 1960, in Russell. He was a farmhand in Dorrance.

Survivors include his mother, Helen of Russell; a sister, Elnora Boatright of Dorrance; and three brothers, Don of Luray, and Milton and Glenn, both of Russell.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church organ fund, in care of Pohlman-Heise Mortuary, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today.

Billie Urie Hoss
LAKIN -- Billie Urie Hoss, 80, Lakin, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
Mrs. Hoss was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Ashland. She was a homemaker and farm wife.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred H. Urie, in 1993; and a grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Hoss of the home; three sons, Harold Urie of Syracuse, Norman Urie of Lakin and Dennis Urie of Courtland; two daughters, Sandra Hilger and Margaret Urie, both of Lakin; a sister, Elaine Richardson of Lakin; two stepchildren, Sandy Bustamante of Kansas City, Mo., and Alan Hoss of Omaha, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakin. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

ST. FRANCIS -- Ruth Marie Klepper, 88, St. Francis, formerly of McDonald, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mrs. Klepper was born Ruth Marie Craig on Nov. 12, 1915. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Laverne, in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Rodney of Bird City; two daughters, Anita Burton of Bird City and Julia Wilkens of McDonald; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Knodel Funeral Home, 202 S. Benton, St. Francis 67756-0606. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, McDonald.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gene Lindsey
MANHATTAN -- Gene Lindsey, 77, Manhattan, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mr. Lindsey was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Topeka. He operated Blue Hills Conoco, Manhattan, for 20 years, retiring in 1983.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Peter Lindsey.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home; three sons, Michael of Bennington, John of Cabot, Ark., and Steven of Manhattan; a sister, Dorothy Wilson of Denver; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sedalia Community Church, northwest of Manhattan.

Dr. Spencer Charles McCrae
MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Spencer Charles McCrae, 86, Marysville, formerly of Salina, Kan., died Sept. 5, 2004.
Dr. McCrae was born May 1, 1918, in Montana, and was an orthopedist in Salina for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Sandy; four daughters, Dee Morris, Barb Wilde, B.J. McCrae and Virginia McCrae; a sister, Carol Collins, a brother Archie; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the church.

The body was cremated.

Eldon R. Nelson
LOST SPRINGS -- Eldon R. Nelson, 80, Lost Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
Mr. Nelson was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Lost Springs. He was a retired dairy farmer.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Rose, in 1967.

Survivors include his wife, Isla Rose of the home; a daughter, Donna Hanneman of Peabody; two sons, Dr. Stanley J. of Marysville and Gary of Lenexa; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Burdick.

Mary Pfannenstiel
HAYS -- Mary Pfannenstiel, 90, Hays, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mrs. Pfannenstiel was born Mary Leiker on Feb. 15, 1914, in Munjor. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Celestine "Butch"; and a daughter, Eileen Larson.

Survivors include a son, Ernie of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Imogene Zimmerman of Topeka; four sisters, Agnesine Boucher, Isabella Koerner and Theresa Leiker, all of Hays, and Josephine Gabel of Munjor; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

A Hays Medical Center Auxiliary rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, Hays 67601. There also will be a parish vigil at 6 p.m. today at the chapel, followed by a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church or Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Virginia May Smith
Virginia May Smith, 72, Salina, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Mrs. Smith was born Virginia May Stokes on May 21, 1932, in Nevada, Mo. She was a retired medical transcriptionist for Dr. Norman Macy.

Survivors include her husband, Donald R. Smith; three sons, Mark A. of Altus, Okla., Richard M. of Lindsborg and Kent D. of Salina; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Salina Church of Christ, 1646 N. Ninth, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lamar.
