BELOIT — Helen Louis Lukens Hodler, 90, Beloit, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.
Mrs. Hodler was born Helen Louis Vickburg on May 14, 1914, in Westmoreland. She was an English teacher, retiring in 1979, and author and newspaper columnist.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Wagner Lukens, in 1975; and her second husband, Rexford D. Hodler, in 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie J. Van Buren of Topeka; two sons, James Lukens of Fayetteville, Ark., and Loren D. Lukens of Seattle; four stepchildren, Mary Ann Galliart of Dorrance, Jean Jensby of Belleville, John Hodler of Lake Elmo, Minn., and Barbara Corman of Rochester, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, 910 N. Campbell, Beloit 67420. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Port Library or First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
John P. Kerr
MAHASKA — John P. Kerr, 87, Mahaska, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.
Mr. Kerr was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Mahaska. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Edith, of Mahaska; a son, Wiley of Clay Center; a daughter, Judith Ann Bond of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Dean of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mahaska Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Mahaska Cemetery.

HILLSBORO — Augusta “Gussie” Kleiber, 93, Hillsboro, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004.
Mrs. Kleiber was born Oct. 27, 1911, in Council Grove. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald V. Duke, in 1957; and her second husband, Vernon Kleiber, in 1982.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Duke of Marion and Gene Duke of Durham; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Hillsboro.

MINNEAPOLIS — Katie Lee Liby, 95, Minneapolis, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004.
Mrs. Liby was born Katie Lee Joyce on Dec. 5, 1909, in Dalton, Ga. She was a cook at Minneapolis High School, retiring in 1974.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon O.; a son, Robert L.; a daughter, Evelyn Baker; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Gerald of Kingman, Ariz.; a sister, Gladys Wooley of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Poland was born Lorene Charlotte Belknap on June 16, 1903, in Denver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Arthur, in 1969; a son, Leo A., in 2001; and a grandson.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty A. Horrell of Denver, Ilene G. Myers of Kansas City, Mo., and Marilyn Gailey of Gibsonville, N.C.; three sons, James R. of Maple Hill, Bernard D. of Webster City, Iowa, and Kenneth F. of Gem; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, Dwight.

Doris Marie Skelton, 91, Salina, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.
Mrs. Skelton was born Doris Marie Fields on July 8, 1913, in Columbus, Ohio. She was a retired cook for Hoovers Restaurant and Burger Boy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Skelton; a son, Donald Heath; a daughter, Faye Marie Heath; and a great-grandson.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur Heath of Nashville, Tenn., and Michael Emerson Heath of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Dorothy Heath-Jones of Salina and Normajene Mays of Columbus, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Base was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Carlton. He was a retired clerk for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad.

Mrs. Daily was born Maynetta Younger on June 24, 1928, in Ellis. She was a professional China painter.
Her husband, Harold, died in 2002.
Survivors include five daughters, Karla Whitmore of Burlington, Colo., Debbie Holman of Arkansas City, Peggy Daily of Ellis, Lorelee Hayden of Hutchinson and Marla Homburg of Hays; two sisters, Betty Herl of Ellis and Judy Smith of Chapman; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Michal Steven Loy
DALLAS — Michal Steven Loy, 39, Dallas, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005.
Mr. Loy was born Sept. 28, 1965, in Fort Benning, Ga. He grew up in Salina, Kan., and attended Salina South High School. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1988. He married his wife, Renee, in November 2000. He was an active member of Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, as well as a strong volunteer in the community. He worked for MCI, Aspect Telecommunications and most recently Telvista Communications as a senior project manager.
Survivors include his wife, Renee; his parents, Linda and Richard Loy, of Topeka; two sisters, Susan Loy of Topeka and Carol Loy of Salina; a brother, Larry Loy of Topeka; a niece, Katie; a nephew, Michael; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, Dallas.

Mrs. McKinney was born Maggie Moran on Aug. 26, 1904, in rural Hardy. She worked at Dewitt Hospital at Auburn, Calif., until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Landin, in 1955, and Ed McKinney, in 1989.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Cathy Smith of Plymouth, Calif.; and a stepson, John McKinney of Greenville, Calif.
