Clarence "Raymond" Morgan

LAMAR, Mo. -- Clarence "Raymond" Morgan, 92, of Lamar, Mo., died at 1:44 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, at Lamar. He had been ill for the past five years.

He was born Aug. 25, 1907, at Barton County, to George Sherman and Caroline Elizabeth Mitchell Morgan. He lived at Rich Hill, Mo., for 45 years, and moved to Lamar in 1991.

He married Reta Callie Scofield on Dec. 11, 1932, at rural Barton County. She survives of the home.

He was a bulk oil distributor who worked for Phillips 66, at Rich Hill for 17 years, and the Morgan Oil Co. for 14 years.

He was a member of the Methodist Church of Oakton and Rich Hill and a charter member of the Lion's Club at Rich Hill for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Morgan, and a sister, Lottie Crockett.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home of Lamar, with the Rev. Bill Perkey and the Rev. Larry Garfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Daniel Funeral Home.

Larry Dean Page

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Larry Dean Page, 54, of Redwood City, Calif., died Dec. 27, 1999, as a result of a series of strokes.

He was born June 27, 1945, at Walnut, to James Albert and Altha Mae Johnson Page. He attended school at Girard until 1958, when the family moved to Redwood City. He graduated from Sequoia High School at Redwood City in June of 1962.

He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the American Legion, Post 105, of Redwood City.

He owned and operated the Larry Page swimming pool business at Redwood City, until suffering a stroke on Nov. 29, 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Page, of the home; a daughter, Shelby, from of a previous marriage; three brothers, Norman Page, of Sunnyvale, Calif., Marion Page, of Penn Valley, Calif., Don Page, of Lawrence; four sisters, Mary Etta Smith, of Farlington, Virginia Price, of Redding, Calif., Alene Geier, of rural Girard, and Brenda Cuthbertson, of Girard; three aunts; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sisters, Lois Polhlopek and Verna Crismas; and a brother, Alan "Sam" Page.

Services were Jan. 4, at Redwood City with burial in the Sky Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Lois E. Puckett

FRONTENAC -- Lois E. Puckett, 76, of 4095 Parkview Dr., Frontenac, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center after a three-year illness.

She was born at Weir, to Fred and Laura Danials Bell. She attended area schools and lived most her life in the southeast Kansas area.

She married Orvil Puckett on Nov. 10, 1942, in Wisconsin. He survives of the home.

She was a homemaker.

Additional survivors include two sons, Richard Puckett, of Longton, and Steve Puckett, of Bernice, Okla.; two brothers, Ray Bell, of Coffeyville, and Erland Bell, of Baxter Springs; a sister, Vona Fisher, of Pittsburg; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Ashmore.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Highland Park Cemetery. Burial will follow the services. Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, where friends may call after 4 p.m. today. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.

Fileda L. Reda

JOPLIN, Mo. -- Fileda L. Reda, 87, of Joplin, Mo., and formerly of Cherokee, died Sunday morning, Jan. 9, 2000, at Joplin, Mo. She was a resident of National Healthcare at Joplin.

She was born Aug. 16, 1913, at Carona, to Nick and Christina Origilasso Castagno. She attended school at West Mineral and after graduation, worked as a bookkeeper for Cherokee Grain Co.

She married Tony Reda on Nov. 28, 1935. He preceded her in death in July of 1991. The couple lived at Cherokee.

She was an active member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and a past president of the Women's Altar Society. She moved to Joplin in 1989 and became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Eileen Fortino, and Christine Kastler, both of Joplin; a son, Mark Reda, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Jim Castagno, of Cherokee; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Battista Castagno, of Cherokee.

Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Joplin, with Fr. Justin Monaghan, Fr. John Harth, and Msgr. John Westhus officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Pittsburg. A rosary service will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., followed by visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Parker Mortuary, Joplin.

William H. "Bill" Schulz

PARSONS -- William H. "Bill" Schulz, 87, of Parsons, died at 2:56 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the Presbyterian Manor Nursing Home at Parsons.

He had been in failing health for the past eight months.

He was born Aug. 5, 1912, at Harbine, Neb., to Gustov and Johanna Mahroon Schulz. He grew up and attended school in Nebraska.

He married Irene Doran on Nov. 10, 1937, at Belle Plaine, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1994. Following their marriage, the couple lived in northern Kansas, where he owned and operated a trucking company.

In 1950, the couple moved to Galesburg, where he farmed and worked for the state of Kansas as a highway maintenance foreman for 26 years. They also lived at Altamont for a time.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church since childhood, but attended the Wesley United Methodist Church at Parsons.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Schulz, of McCune; two daughters, Sharon Gough, of Parsons, and Carol Bond, of DeSoto; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and an infant daughter.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. J.C. Kelley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons.

Robert J. Wintle Sr.

PARSONS -- Robert J. Wintle Sr., 79, of Parsons, died at 1:57 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in the Intensive Care Unit at the Labette County Medical Center, Parsons.

He was born Aug. 26, 1920, at Pittsburg, to Alfred E. and Mable C. Peck Wintle. He attended school at Pittsburg and graduated from Nevada, Mo. High School in 1938. He attended Oklahoma A&M at Stillwater, Okla., and Balboa University at San Diego, Calif.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II as an aviation cadet. He also was assigned to the 15th Air Force, and the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base at Biloxi, Miss.

He married Betty Lou Cook on May 30, 1952, at Eurkea Springs, Ark. She survives of the home.

He was employed by Consolidated and Ryan Aircraft Companies, Continental Can Company, and Lear Jet, in aircraft production. In the aero-space industry, he was the resident engineer for the Martin-Marietta Corporation at various Titan Missle sites in the United States.

In preparation for putting a man on the moon, he was employed as an engineering specialist by the General Electric Company, at the Mississippi Test Facility at Bay St. Louis, Miss. In 1967, he moved to Erie, where he worked at National Gypsum as line superintendent of the 900 area at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. In 1972, he moved to Parsons. He retired from the engineering department of Day & Zimmerman, Inc. in 1988.

He was a member of the Erie Lodge No. 76 AF&AM, the George L. Hendricks Post No. 102 American Legion of Erie, where he was past commander, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the American Radio Relay League. He was active in amateur radio and a member of the Parsons Area Amateur Radio Club.

Additional survivors include a son, Robert J. Wintle Jr., of Parsons; a daughter, Sherry Payne, of Parsons; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a granddaughter.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Bingham officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, at Coffeyville. Masonic rites will be under the direction of the Erie Lodge No. 76 AF&AM. The flag presentation will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons. Arrangements are under the direction of the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Nora L. Connor

ROSEHILL -- Nora L. Connor, 79, of Rosehill, formerly of 716 E. 18th St., died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Lake Point Nursing Center, Rosehill.

She was born Dec. 6, 1921, at Jasper County, Mo., to Ira A. and Sylvia D. Redden Scott. She attended rural Missouri schools and graduated from Alba High School in 1939.

She lived in Kansas City until moving to Pittsburg in 1983. She had been a resident of the Wichita area for the past five years.

She married Z.L. Connor on June 5, 1948, at Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death May 7, 1993.

Mrs. Connor was a homemaker.

She was active in PTA in Kansas City and City Union Mission in Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include a son, Dennis M. Connor of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Claude I. Scott of Wichita; two sisters, Wilma Burnside of Oronogo, Mo., and Mildred Allen of Sterling, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janice Jo Stahl; three brothers; and six sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel, 114 E. Fourth St. Burial will follow in the Nashville, Mo., Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St.

Josephine Marrello Crowe

NEOSHO, Mo. -- Josephine Marrello Crowe, 91, of Neosho, Mo., died at 1:51 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, after a sudden illness.

She was born June 1, 1909, at Capaldo, to Mike and Anna (Serra) Marrello.

She married W.H. Crowe Sr. on Sept. 3, 1932, at Girard. He preceded her in death May 27, 1990.

She moved to Neosho in 1933 from Pittsburg.

She was a caterer for 54 years and retired in June of 2000.

Mrs. Crowe was an honorary member of the Neosho Rotary and Lions Club. She cooked weekly lunches for the Rotary for 54 years and the Lions for 53 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Bill Crowe Jr. of Neosho; a daughter, Ann McCool of Neosho; a sister, Helen Caruso of Pittsburg; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Clark Funeral Home of Neosho, with Dr. Bill Masters officiating. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The casket will be closed at service time and will remain closed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Lester P. Francis Sr.

ST. LOUIS -- Lester P. Francis Sr., 89, of St. Louis, died in late December of 2000, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

He graduated from Arma High School. He also attended Pittsburg State University and the University of Arizona at Tucson.

Mr. Francis was past president of Missouri Automobile Dealers, director of National Automobile Dealers and member of the General Motors President Council.

He was an original director of Mark Twain State Bank.

He was a member of Beacon Lodge No. 3, the Scottish Rite, and the Royal Order of Jesters. He also was past potentate of the Moolah Shrine Temple in St. Louis.

Private entombment was in the Oak Grove Mausoleum, St. Louis.

Catherine 'Grammy' Hribar

CHICOPEE -- Catherine "Grammy" Hribar, 89, of Chicopee, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001.

She was born Dec. 10, 1911, at Chicopee, to Edward and Ellen (Moore) McLuckie.

She married John Joseph Hribar on June 20, 1932, at St. Barbara's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death.

She lived in the Chicopee area all of her life.

Mrs. Hribar was a member of the former St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Chicopee. She had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and St. Barbara's Altar Society at the time of her death.

Survivors include a son, Tom Hribar of Chicopee; a daughter, Mary Ellen "Spiff" Richardson of Chicopee; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Francis Hribar; two sisters, Mary Ellen Lenne and Anne Richter; and two brothers, Edward McLuckie and Alexander McLuckie.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Stroot as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway.

Josephine B. 'Jo' Kelly

HUTCHINSON -- Josephine B. "Jo" Kelly, 74, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at her home.

She was born Aug. 28, 1926, at Capaldo, to Carlo and Damiana Cottito Bavuso. She graduated from Girard High School in 1944.

She was a resident of Beloit from 1960 until moving to Hutchinson in November of 1996.

She married Harold Lloyd Kelly on Oct. 15, 1948, at Benton County, Ark. He preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1994.

She was the co-owner of Harold L. Kelly Supply Company, a family-owned and -operated farm and ranch supply business. She retired in May of 1995.

She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church in Beloit. She was a member of Prosperity "Sharing Sisters" and TOPS No. 430, both of Hutchinson.

Survivors include four son, James C. Kelly of Beloit, Michael E. Kelly of Lawrence, Robert L. Kelly of Portland, Ore., and Stephen M. Kelly of Independence, Mo.; three daughters, Deanna L. Adkins of Mansfield, Ohio, Patricia J. Monty of Nickerson, and Carla J. Auldridge of Salina; a brother, Samuel Bavuso of Rockaway Beach, Mo., three sisters, Rose Smith, Lynn Yankoviz and Mary Ann Youvan, all of Pittsburg, and Jenny Metz of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Carlo Bavuso Jr.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel, Beloit. Father Henry Baxa will officiate. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery, Beloit. Arrangements are under the direction of the Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
