CLAY CENTER — Roine I. Chapman, 86, Clay Center, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.

Mrs. Chapman was born Roine I. Taylor on Feb. 27, 1918, in Broughton. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael, in 1992.

Survivors include her husband, Paul of the home; and a granddaughter.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Manor of Clay Center.

Clifford M. Daws
Clifford M. Daws, 86, Salina, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.

Ervin F. DeWald
RUSSELL — Ervin F. DeWald, 85, Russell, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

Mr. DeWald was born June 5, 1919, in Russell County. He was a farmer and stockman and a groundskeeper at the WaKeeney Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; and a stepdaughter, Charlotte Cross.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Myrt Feagley of Muleshoe, Texas, and Flora Wood of Weleetka, Okla.; a brother, Harvey of Phoenix; two sisters, Geraldine Hurd of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Berniece Weimaster of Russell; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, 610 N. Maple, Russell 67665. Burial will be in Russell City Cemetery, with full military honors by VFW Post 6240.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell, in care of the mortuary.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the mortuary.

Albert Dorzweiler
SHARON SPRINGS — Albert Dorzweiler, 87, Sharon Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.

Mr. Dorzweiler was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Ellis County. He worked for several area farmers.

Survivors include a sister, Cecilia Douglas Camp of Sharon Springs.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Mountain time Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Sharon Springs. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Mountain time in Catherine Cemetery, Catherine.

A rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the church with visitation from 1 to 6 p.m. at Parish Hall.

Memorials may be made to the church and left at the church or mailed to Bateman Funeral Home, Box 278, Goodland 67735.

Genevieve H. Erickson
OBERLIN — Genevieve H. Erickson, 94, Oberlin, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Herndon Covenant Church, rural Herndon.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pauls Funeral Home, 121 N. Penn, Oberlin 67749, and 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the church.

Francis W. Escher
TOPEKA — Francis W. Escher, Topeka, 84, formerly of Herndon, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005.

Mr. Escher was born Sept. 17, 1920, in McCook, Neb. He was a former co-owner of Herndon Cash Store and was a Herndon Postmaster.

Survivors include his wife, Aurelia of Topeka; three sons, Gary and Dan, both of Topeka, and Mitch of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Jo Erickson of Fullerton, Calif., and Ann Palmer of Sabetha; a brother, Loren of Hays; a sister, Rosemary Escher Bates of Aurora, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church, Herndon. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home, 109 N. Second, Atwood 67730, and after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Claudine Heinrich
BELOIT — Claudine Heinrich, 70, Beloit, formerly of Oakley, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley, is handling arrangements.

Susie L. Decker Klatt
CANTON — Susie L. Decker Klatt, 80, Canton, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.

Mrs. Klatt was born Susie L. Rudiger on Feb. 5, 1925, in rural Galva. She was retired from Hesston Corp.

Her first husband, Robert Decker, died in 1991.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond of Canton; a son, Dwight Decker of Canton; two daughters, Julie Hoyer of Canton and Nadine Spence of McPherson; a stepson, Bill Klatt of McPherson; two stepdaughters, Kristi Morgan of Moundridge and Cheryl Ayer of Wichita; a brother, Galen Rudiger of Newton; three sisters, Pauline Smith and Irene Bartel, both of Newton, and Doris Decker of Galva; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Canton Christian Church. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church, Canton Senior Center of Central Homecare and Hospice.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Olson’s Mortuary, 139 N. Main, Canton 67428.

Della T. Lohmann
LINCOLN — Della T. Lohmann, 99, Lincoln, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

Mrs. Lohmann was born Della T. Achterberg on Nov. 25, 1905, in Lincoln. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Christina (Holl) Achterberg; a daughter, Reva Elaine Lohmann; three brothers, George, Wilbur and Loyl Achterberg; and a sister, Leona Achterberg.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Lohmann and wife Martha of Lincoln; a daughter, Arleta Manville and husband William of Valley Falls; four grandchildren, Mark L. Lohmann and wife Marla of Houston, Rachelle Feldkamp and husband Mitchel and Neil Manville and wife Kristie, all of Winchester, and Camille Manville of Manhattan; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, the Rev. Gerald Radtke officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church.

There will be no visitation.

PHOENIX — Clara McMillan, Phoenix, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005.

Myrtice Marie Plinsky
LINCOLN — Myrtice Marie Plinsky, 84, Lincoln, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.

Mrs. Plinsky was born Myrtice Marie Buttenhoff on Sept. 12, 1920, in rural Lincoln County. She was an office clerk and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar.

Survivors include two sons, Robert of Osage City and Richard of Lincoln; two brothers, Harold Buttenhoff and Paul Buttenhoff, both of Lincoln; four sisters, Almira Sloat of Topeka, Margaret Bolte of Lincoln, Ruth Place of Ellsworth and Joy Weber of Perry, Okla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln County Hospital.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home, 111 E. Elm, Lincoln 67455, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Pauline Mary Schwieterman
SYRACUSE — Pauline Mary Schwieterman, 87, Syracuse, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.

Mrs. Schwieterman was born Pauline Mary Bergkamp on Feb. 7, 1918, in Hooker, Okla. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Walter, died in 1991.

Survivors include five sons, Dave, Omer and Kent, all of Syracuse, Luke of Garden City and Bart of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Judy Kocher of Onaga and Jean Huser of Salina; three brothers, Art Bergkamp of Murdock, Jonas Bergkamp of Derby and Melvin Bergkamp of Salina; two sisters, Emma Stockemer of Bainbridge, Wash., and Mildred Bergkamp of Mount Hope; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Mountain time Tuesday at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Syracuse. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Mountain time today at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Raphael Altar Society, in care of Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, 401 N. Sumner, Syracuse, KS 67878.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain time today at the funeral home.

COLBY — Claire E. Swank, 91, Colby, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

Shaylynn Widener
CANTON — Shaylynn Widener, 2, Canton, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.

Shaylynn was born Jan. 21, 2003, in McPherson.

Survivors include her mother, Ashley Richelle Grant of Canton; her father, Greg Allen Widener of McPherson; her grandparents, Lance and Kathy Grant of Canton, Tony and Elizabeth Tipton of Hutchinson and Terry Sinnett of Katy, Texas; and her great-grandparents, Helen Widener of Hutchinson, Lowell and Yvonne Friesen of Galva and James and Edith Huff of McPherson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Galva United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Empire Cemetery, Galva.

Memorials may be made to the Shaylynn Widener Fund, in care of Citizens State Bank located inside the McPherson Wal-Mart.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson 67460, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Helen M. Brown
Helen M. Brown, 92, Salina, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005.

Mrs. Brown was born Helen Marie Smith on Oct. 7, 1912, near Hoyt. She was a rural schoolteacher and a homemaker.

Her husband, the Rev. Harold B. Brown, died in 1979.

Survivors include a son, Robert Brown and wife Beverly of Salina; a daughter, Linda McCarty and husband H.D. of Derby; a brother, Marvin Smith and wife Shirley of Topeka; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Salina Presbyterian Manor. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Hoyt Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salina Presbyterian Manor or Hospice of Salina.

Lola Marie Cox
LINCOLN — Lola Marie Cox, 91, Lincoln, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005.

Mrs. Cox was born Lola Marie Sprague on Sept. 25, 1913, in Lincoln. She was a teacher and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; and a daughter, Karen Marie Krueger.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Honn of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Virginia Lee Cromer of Desert Aire, Wash., and Linda Wrench of Vesper; a brother, Paul Sprague of Salina; a sister, Dorothy Bowman of Salina; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Vesper Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Lincoln City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or Vesper Men’s Club.

Geneva Duff
CONCORDIA — Geneva Duff, 95, Concordia, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005.

Mrs. Duff was born Geneva Cline on Aug. 21, 1909, in Glasco. She and her husband were stockmen and farmers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland W.

Survivors include a sister, Janice Ramsey of Concordia; and a nephew and two nieces.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel, 325 W. Sixth, Concordia 66901, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Lee Eckhart
NORCATUR — Lee Eckhart, 82, Norcatur, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005.

Mr. Eckhart was born June 28, 1922, southwest of Norcatur. He was a farmer.

Survivors include a sister, Lois M. Eckhart of Oberlin.

Inurnment services will be at a later date.
