ABILENE — Betty J. Dedmon, 74, Abilene, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, J. Charles Dedmon.

Survivors include a son, Daniel W. of Highlandville, Mo.; a daughter, Kathleen Herndon Burkhardt of Grapevine, Texas; a sister, Ann Tapp of Abilene; a stepbrother, Les Morley of Bartlett, Tenn; a stepsister, Betty Spellman of Clay Center; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third, Abilene 67410. Inurnment will be in Abilene Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Dickinson County or Abilene Senior Center, in care of the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

RUSSELL — Robert Dean “Bob” Householter, 71, Russell, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005.

Phylis Jolene Norton
SYRACUSE — Phylis Jolene Norton, 76, Syracuse, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Mountain time today at Methodist Church, Syracuse.

Doris R. Rerick
BURR OAK — Doris R. Rerick, 93, Burr Oak, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005.

Mrs. Rerick was born Doris R. Mendenhall on Aug. 22, 1912, in Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman, in 1975.

Survivors include two nephews and 10 nieces.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at Swan-Law Funeral Home, Colorado Springs.

The Simonson-Williams Funeral Home, 241 W. Fourth, Red Cloud, NE 68970, is handling arrangements.

Edith Reinert
DOWNS — Edith Reinert, 81, Downs, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005.

Mrs. Reinert was born Edith Mans on Oct. 16, 1923, in Osborne. She was a retired telephone operator.

Her husband, Bernard, died in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis of Smith Center and Kevin of Wichita; four daughters, Linda Colson of Wichita, Diane Peters of Beloit, Brenda Koch of Clyde and Sheila Thibault of Lansing; two brothers, Bill Mans and Ben Mans, both of Osborne; two sisters, Maxine Brummer of Downs and Monica Eilert of Beloit; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Downs. Burial will be in Downs Cemetery.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the church, Sacred Heart Church of Esbon or Solomon Valley Hospice.

Ralph J. Walter
BROOKVILLE — Ralph J. Walter, 82, Brookville, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005.

Mr. Walter was born May 6, 1923, in Salina, the son of Carl L. and Rose Marie Walter.

He was a World War II Navy veteran who served on the ship Land Sea Transport 925 and a lifetime DAV member.

Survivors include a brother, Vincent and wife Norma of Wichita; a nephew, Greg Walter of Wichita; three nieces, Loretta Knott and husband Bruce of Wichita, Vicki Davis and husband Martin of Prescott, Ariz., and Sharon Griffith and husband Don of Rogers, Minn.; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Monday at VFW Hall, Salina, the Rev. Charlie Stephens officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Ellsworth Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina, 139 N. Penn, Salina 67401.

All Faiths Funeral Services, 3717 W. Central, Wichita 67203, is handling arrangements.

Charles Andrew Berg
WINDOM — Charles Andrew Berg, 82, Windom, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005.

Mr. Berg was born March 17, 1923, in McPherson. He was a farmer and a mail carrier.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, in 1994; and a daughter, Linda K. Barnhart.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Hollingsworth and Kathy Berg, both of Hutchinson; two sons, Wesley of Windom and Kyle of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Andover Lutheran Church, Windom. Burial will be in Andover Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid, McPherson 67460.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

George E. Horner
ABILENE — George E. Horner, 80, Abilene, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005.

William L. “Bill” Johnson
CANTON — William L. “Bill” Johnson, 72, Canton, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005.

Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 21, 1933, in McPherson. He retired from NCRA refinery in 1995, where he worked in the instrument department. He was also a farmer and dairyman.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; two sons, Steven and Gary, both of McPherson; a daughter, Janet Ortman of Moundridge; a brother, Duane of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Diana Walstrom of Denver; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson. The body was cremated and the cremains will be scattered at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the church or Angel Arms, both of McPherson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson 67460, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Patricia Sue Koehn
McPHERSON — Patricia Sue Koehn, 47, McPherson, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005.

Mrs. Koehn was born Patricia Sue Hunt on Dec. 16, 1957, in Phillipsburg. She was employed at Farmers Alliance Insurance Co. as a quality assurance manager.

Survivors include her husband, Brent James; a daughter, Wendi Dawn Koehn of McPherson; a son, Lucas James of McPherson; a sister, Kathy Hawkinson of McPherson; and her parents, Wendell and Colleen Hunt of Phillipsburg.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson. A private family graveside service will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Christian Church, McPherson, or Ronald McDonald House, Wichita.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home Chapel, 222 W. Euclid, McPherson 67460-4207, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

Robert B. Lichty Jr
DAVENPORT, Neb. — Robert B. Lichty Jr., 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005.

Mr. Lichty was born April 4, 1930, in Hebron. He was a farmer and was also employed at Price Funeral Home, Heb-ron, Urbauer-Price Funeral Home, Davenport, and Ahrendts Funeral Home, Deshler.

Survivors include his wife, Janel; a daughter, Rhonda Meyer of Julesburg, Colo.; three sons, Kirk of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Kent of Hebron and Kyle of Carleton; many grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A private family service will be held. Inurnment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Carleton.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Cemetery, rural Carleton, in care of Price Funeral Home, 210 S. Third, Hebron 68370.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Pauline Bell Mock
EUREKA — Pauline Bell Mock, 89, Eureka, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005.

Mrs. Mock was born Pauline Bell Denner in Greenwood County on Dec. 21, 1915.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, in 1963.

Survivors include three sons, Edward of Salina, and Milton “Dan” and Steven, both of Reece; two daughters, Patricia Lawrence of Eureka and Paula Goodell of Reece; a sister, Ivone Denner of Eureka; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral was Friday at Koup Family Funeral Home, 121 N. Oak, Box 595, Eureka 67045. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

GYPSUM — Augusta G. Nilson, 89, Gypsum, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005.

Robert E. Nordquist Sr
CONCORDIA — Robert E. Nordquist Sr., 69, Concordia, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005.

Mr. Nordquist was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Wayne. He was employed at Natural Gas Pipeline of America, Glasco, as a main operator for shift work.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva, of Concordia; two daughters, Machelle Fisher of Concordia and Shawna Wright of Oxnard, Calif.; a son, Robert Jr. of Hoxie; five sisters, Doreen Couture of Abilene, Marilyn Conner of Omaha, Neb., Nadine Funk of Wichita, Annetta Patton of Clearwater and Pamela Campbell of Concordia; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Concordia. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, with military graveside honors by American Legion Post No. 76 and VFW Post No. 588.

Memorials may be made to Meadowlark Hospice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. Sixth, Box 606, Concordia 66901, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Lenice J. O’Brien, 84, Salina, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005.

James E. “Gene” Rankin
James E. “Gene” Rankin, 79, Salina, formerly of Abilene, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005.

Mr. Rankin was born June 26, 1928, in Willard. He was a carpenter and construction superintendent, retiring from High Tech Interiors, Manhattan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna; and a stepson, Randy Pilcher.

Survivors include his wife, Delores, of the home; two daughters, Raneta Ferris of Manhattan and Linda Jones of Clay Center; a son, Dan of Manhattan; two stepchildren; Renee Boss and Rashelle Hensley, both of Bennington; a sister, Darlene Pierson of Inman; three brothers, William and Gerald, both of Abilene, and Robert of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brethren in Christ Church, Abilene. A private inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m., in Dwight Cemetery, with military graveside honors.

Memorials are to be established at a later date, in care of Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third, Abilene 67410.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Mr. Smith was born July 9, 1920, in Amorita, Okla. He was employed at Wesco Fabrics as a salesman and drapery representative.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian, of the home; and two sisters, Mary Ann Smith of Osawatomie and Maxine Smith Powell of Paso Robles, Calif.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha. Burial and graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Russell City Cemetery.
