BELLEVILLE — Gerald “Ted” Fischer, 94, Belleville, formerly of Republic, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, is handling arrangements.

Wayne LaRoy Hamme
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Wayne LaRoy Hamme, 47, Springfield, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006.

Mr. Hamme was born July 4, 1958, in Colby. He worked as a self-employed truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Springfield; his mother, Beulah Hamme of Topeka; two sons, Lloyd of Hays and John of Towanda; two stepsons, Mike Merrill of Lincoln, Neb., and Steve Merrill of Fortuna, Calif.; a daughter, Sarah Hamme of Towanda; a brother, David of Topeka; a sister, Kathleen Holzmeister of Olathe; and a stepgrandson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp, in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas, Topeka 66608.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Gladys Elaine Harris
Gladys Elaine Harris, 96, Salina, died Sunday, May 7, 2006.

Mrs. Harris was born Gladys Elaine Jordan on Feb. 6, 1910, in Lawrence, the daughter of Arthur O. and Leone Gladys (Johnson) Jordan. She was a retired clerical/social worker in Los Angeles County, Los Angeles.

She was a member of VFW Auxiliary.

She married Ross Alzo Harris on Sept. 5, 1948, in Los Angeles. He died in 1991.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur H. Jordan; and a niece, Rhea L. Bess Littrell.

Survivors include four nieces, Dorothy D. Moore, Barbara J. Knight, Patricia L. McCabe, all of Salina, and Jackie B. Cathcart of Los Angeles; a nephew, Arthur E. Jordan of Salina; 19 grand nieces and nephews; 18 great-grand nieces and nephews; a great-great-grand nephew; and a special friend, Virginia Thomas of Los Angeles.

A memorial prayer service will be at 6 p.m. today at Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, the Revs. Allen D. Smith and Larry E. Jones, officiating. Burial will be in Inglewood Cemetery, Inglewood, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 215 S. Chicago, Salina 67401.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

HILL CITY — Mary L. Jackson, Hill City, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

Eugene V. Johnson
ABILENE — Eugene V. Johnson, 85, Abilene, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

Danner Funeral Home, Abilene, is handling arrangements.

Eleanora A. Lewis
HOLYROOD — Eleanora A. Lewis, 91, Holyrood, died Sunday, May 7, 2006.

Mrs. Lewis was born Eleanora A. Cipra on Nov. 29, 1914, in Toston, Mont. She was housekeeper at Ellsworth Good Samaritan Center.

She was preceded in death by a son, Loren, in 2003, and two great-grandsons.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Nagel of Holyrood and Kathryn Cockrum of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Laverna Kozisek of Holyrood and Mildred Riha of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood. Burial will be in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Retirement Village.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Parsons Funeral Home, 307 N. Lincoln, Ellsworth, and 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Edward Massier
ELLIS — Edward Massier, 89, Ellis, died Saturday, May 6, 2006.

Mr. Massier was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Ellis. He was a retired farmer and stockman.

Survivors include his wife, Rose, of Ellis; a daughter, Janice McFather of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Lena Hagen and Margaret Mohney, both of Ellis; and two granddaughters.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ellis. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Wasinger-Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis 67637.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Loren E. “Babe” Minnis
LANSING — Loren “Babe” E. Minnis, 80, Lansing, died Thursday, May 4, 2006.

Mr. Minnis was born June 12, 1926, in Pratt. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service worker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann (Miller) Minnis.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice N. Guice and Monica G. Minnis; two sons, Randall A. and Loren “Dino” E. and a stepdaughter, Francine “Franna” Thompson; two brothers, Frank B. Jr. and Paul V. Sr.; four sisters, Merrienne Eloise Felder, Juanda M. Magby, Peggy J. Marks and Theresa Klugh; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 12 p.m. Friday at Independent Missionary Baptist Church, 601 Pottawatomie, Leavenworth. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the church, Friday.

Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is handling arrangements.

GREAT BEND — Marie K. Myers, 92, Great Bend, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend.

An Altar Society rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend 67530.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.

STOCKTON — Voncile Ostmeyer, died Sunday, May 7, 2006.

Marilyn Kathryn Risley
FLIPPIN, Ark. — Marilyn Kathryn Risley, 69, Flippin, died Friday, May 5, 2006.

Mrs. Risley was born Marilyn Kathryn King on Aug. 10, 1936, in Luray. She was a registered nurse for nearly 50 years and owned and operated the Olathe Hearing Aid Center, retiring in 2002.

Survivors include her husband, Wilburn “Bill,” of Flippin; a daughter, Pamela Melzer of Olathe; a son, Rick Donabauer of Beverly; a stepdaughter, April Rice of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Sandra Chapman of Houston; and two grandsons.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 Ridgeview, Olathe. A private burial will be held.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Twin Lakes Cremation Society and Funeral Home, Flippin, Ark., is handling arrangements.

Roy Edwin Rubendall
NORTON — Roy Edwin Rubendall, 87, Norton, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

Mr. Rubendall was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Oberlin. He was in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and then worked for McDonald-Douglas for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ardith, of Norton; a daughter, Mary Pippin of Cullman, Ala.; a son, Marc of Elsberry, Mo.; a brother, John of Franklin, Neb.; a sister, Alice Anderson of Kiowa, Colo., four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Enfield Funeral Home, 215 W. Main, Norton. Burial will be in Norcatur Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

WaKEENEY — Jack D. Smith, WaKeeney, died Sunday, May 7, 2006.

Jane Stephenson
Jane Stephenson, 80, Salina, died Saturday, May 6, 2006.

Mrs. Stephenson was born Beverly Jane Dunbar on April 12, 1926, in Salina. She was a branch manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 42 years.

She married E. Neil Stephenson on Sept. 6, 1947.

She was a member of the P.E.O., Salina Country Club and the Salina Elks Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Neil Stephenson, her parents, Stuart and Rene Dunbar; and a sister, Jere Brown.

Survivors include a son, Larry of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Ann Arkebauer and husband Tim of Salina; two sisters, Joyce Reeves of Topeka and Jackie Redden of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two grandsons, Chris Wilson of Kansas City, Mo. and Adam Wilson of Lawrence.

A memorial gathering will be at Salina Country Club, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the main dining room. A private family inurnment will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Manor or Hospice of Salina.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Wanda June Totman
McPHERSON — Wanda June Totman, 80, McPherson, died Saturday, May 6, 2006.

Mrs. Totman was born Wanda June Rathbun on June 2, 1925, in Lincoln. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mirrel L., in 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen S. Meats of McPherson; a son, Donald R. of McPherson; a sister, Hazel Jones of Lincoln; a brother, Dale Rathbun of Lincoln; four grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church.

There will be no visitation.

Dillard “Sonny” Trowbridge
QUINTER — Dillard “Sonny” Trowbridge, 73, Quinter, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

Mr. Trowbridge was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan. He was a retired Oakley High School custodian, retiring in 1996.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; a son, Terry of Independence, Mo.; two daughters, Rita Anderton of Independence and Gwen Moore of Quinter; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.

Memorials may be made to Rebecca Morrison House, Salina, in care of Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main, Quinter 67752.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends.

William L. “Bill” Trzicky
MUNDEN — William L. “Bill” Trzicky, 90, Munden, died Sunday, May 7, 2006.

Mr. Trzicky was born March 16, 1916, in rural Munden. He was a retired mechanic and owner of Bill’s Repair Shop.

Survivors include his wife, Lorena of Munden; a son, Merlyn of Munden; a daughter, Linda Splichal of Munden; a sister, Lottie Rataj of Belleville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Memorial Chapel, 1322 19th, Belleville 66935. Burial will be in Ida Cemetery, rural Munden, with military graveside rites conducted by William Fleming American Legion Post No. 345.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s family’s choice.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and Wednesday and 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday all at the funeral home.

Daisy Mae Whitaker
Daisy Mae Whitaker, 67, Salina, died Friday, May 5, 2006.

Mrs. Whitaker was born Daisy Mae Gray on Aug. 15, 1938, in Hensley, Ark., the daughter of Dave Gray and Vera Elizabeth (Mays) Alexander. She was a homemaker.

She attended Allen Chapel AME Church, Salina.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion Herman Otis Jefferson, in 1983; and a brother, Jesse Wright.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Burse and husband James Sr. and Lalita Thomas, all of Salina; four sons, Albert Whitaker and wife Sherry and Seon Whitaker, all of Salina, Alvin Whitaker and wife Debbie of Topeka and Leroy Whitaker and wife Tammy of Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother, Willie Wright of Salina; a sister, Delores Jean Rivers of Salina; 25 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson-Ford-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina 67401, the Rev. Thomas Lindon Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Daisy Whitaker Memorial Fund, 1010 N. Fifth, Salina 67401.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
